From Sketch to Red Carpet! Omotola’s TIME 100 Gala Red Hot Look

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's Time 100 Gala Look - BN Style - May 2014 -

One thing is for sure – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde could not be missed at the TIME 100 Gala.

The leading Nollywood actress arrived at the Jazz, Lincoln Centre, New York City on Tuesday 29th April 2014, in a one-of-a-kind custom red dress by Iconic Invanityread it here.

With the help of her stylist Ezinne Chinkata, Omosexy accessorized with drop earrings, and black bracelets.

Nancy Nwadire, the creative director of the Nigerian fashion label tells BN Style all the deets on the frock.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's Time 100 Gala Look - BN Style - May 2014 - 01

Nancy says;

We wanted something very different for Omotola in terms of colour choice, silhouette and design for the 2014 TIME 100 Gala event.

What came to mind immediately was a modern tailored look. We went for structured shoulders with cut out details and a straight silhouette for a modern edgy twist.

The scarlet red dress was made of Crepe Deschine silk.

Ezinne also explains that “Nancy ran a white belt/band across the dress to cinch in the waist. An edgy twist was achieved by running a panel from the neckline to the bottom. We added a touch of our signature with minimum black embellishment at the white borders to make a contrast.”

Talk about making a statement on the red carpet.

I don’t know why this look was criticized at all, i so so love it on her. Its fresh, clean cut and different from what we are used to seeing her in. Thumbs up to the designer and her stylist.

As per her weight gain, i dont know what the fuss is about. Like every normal African woman its a struggle to remain slim. Its usually a yoyo journey so please people should give her a break. For someone who looks like her daughters big sis and not their mum, i think she has done fabulously well abeg.

@every normal African woman… I guess the really slim/thin African women that can never gain weight are not normal. How can they be?

you took it off my mouth Sexxie. it is a beutiful dress but not for Omotola kindda body shape. the style made her shoulder luk big and uncomfortable while d waist down is just ok. probably without sleeves would have been better on Omotola. Am sure this gown will be fabulous on Lupita cos of her body frame. but it is actually a beautiful designed gown. very different.

Compare d design and the real person…..such a BIGG Difference!!! Hips, waistline, eye lashes and shape of face….I guess Ezinne shud av considered d body structure of OmoT before adorning her….nice design on paper but a no-no in reality!!!

  5. Love it

    May 2, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Love this!!!! OmoT carry go, nothing do you.

Decency is the word in this world of nudity.

Exactly! the dress is okay but not okay for Omotola’s physique. Everyone is a stylist i know but Ezinne should know better than ket omo sexy haunched shoulders and a white panelled dress. The same way this dress would make Toolz look fatter as they have almost the same body structure

    • cos i say so

      May 6, 2014 at 4:56 pm

why do i think E zinne did this intentionally

Nah, I don’t like the dress on her. I liked the design, but seeing the actual dress… nuh uh. Her shoulders look really huge and the dress just doesn’t sit well on her.

    May 2, 2014 at 1:30 pm

I love Iconic Invanity but this didn’t werk. This isn’t for Omotola. She killed it…. not in a good way.

Wait, was she trying to match the red carpet and back drop? Please Iconic Invanity can do better. The dress does not compliment anything about her.

I was not feeling this dress on Omotola at all. However seeing it on the sketch, i can see where the designer is coming from and how they would have tot it would look brilliant on a lady. Unfortunately, that lady is not Omotola. With her body shape, the dress only made her look huge plus the drop at the bottom does not look well executed. Oh dear, i still got love for you tho Omo sexy.

Great dress and I get the “Time Magazine” theme of the dress, but only a stick thin model body can pull off the dress, that’s why it looks great on the sketch, but not on Omotola. However, compared to some of the other outfits she has worn to other events, she really tried with this one, so thumbs up Omosexy!

Ezinne Chinkata is a terrible stylist,,,, she can’t even style herself
She does terrible jobs all the time………*long hiss
Please do a Google search on her and see for yourself

    May 4, 2014 at 11:49 am

I can understand why the dress was designed for Omotola it was meant to be sharp and cutting edge. One thing about styling though is that you have to be flexible, a dress might work on paper and the day before but on the D day look quite off. THIS IS WHERE you make the tough call or why you have options. Omotola I seriously want to be your Stylist and I have the necessary qualifications #justsaying.
