The annual Genevieve Magazine Pink Ball held last night, Saturday 18 October, 2014 at The Dorchester Event Hall in Victoria Island, Lagos and the event was filled with the crème-de-la-crème of the society as several A-Listers gathered together for a worthy cause, Breast Cancer.

BN brought you the first photos yesterday and now we are bringing all the glam pictures from the event.

With a theme of pink, the venue was lit up with bright lights and beautiful décor.

The dress code for the night was ‘a touch of pink’ and we loved seeing several people adhere to that dress code while interpreting the central colour in their own way.

Guests at the event include Rita Dominic, Betty Irabor, Nkiru Anumudu, Ruth Osime, Omawumi, Toke Makinwa, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Julius Agwu, Bola Balogun, Agbani Darego, Mai Atafo, Ono Bello, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Seyi Shay, Mocheddah, Fade Ogunro, Ruby Gyang, Oc Ukeje, Chris Atoh, Latasha Ngwube, Ugonna Omeruo, and the list goes on.

Nigerian designers Mai Atafo and Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi both showcased never-before-seen collections designed especially for the Pink Ball using gorgeous pink fabric for both men and women.

The collection showcased by LDA was truly gorgeous and she used Toolz, Fade Ogunro, Osas Ighodaro, Rita Dominic and Seyi Shay as her models for the night while Mai Atafo used OC Ukeje, Chris Attoh, DJ Exclusive and Julius Agwu as his models for the night.

A waist-shaking performance by Flavour rounded out the night.

BN Style was on ground to bring you all the FAB Guests at the event.

Most of the ladies dressed horribly. Nigeria still has a long way to go when it comes to dressing for formal events. Just because it’s a pink ball doesn’t mean you should just wear any pink thing hanging in your closet. Most of the makeup too, terrible. Ebuka is the best dressed male. Ibiere and Julius Agwu look great together.

    October 19, 2014 at 7:27 pm

Yay! Thanks BN for clearer photos. Now my full analysis

If you missed my earlier review (unfortunately filled with grammatical errors, click here – http://www.bellanaija.com/2014/10/18/first-look-stars-socialites-flaunt-their-genevieve-pink-ball-dresses/

Ruby Gyang – You look beautiful. Please show off your curves in another outfit next year.

Tonye Garrick – Love the hairstyle and the jewelry. The make-up is a bit harsh but I was love smokey eyes. The outfit is a delight but as she posed it made her look a bit larger than her normal size, which is not good at all.

Toke Makinwa – On second look. This is quite not up to par. She can do better than this.

Eunice Efole – Oh My! Were you forced to attend? Your tailor should have made the belt more accentuated to the waist so as to bring out your curves. Styling wise, it is not bad.

Ibiere Agwu – Simple and chic. Since she isn’t exactly a celeb but just a supporting act to her comedian husband, it is a nice look. But if she were a celeb, this Virgos Lounge is not only boring but has been worn thousands of times by different people.

Chee – I never have high hopes for Chee at any event, She sticks to the same silhouette A-line skirt, denim or tight mini skirts. But this is quite a change and I am happy she is switching it up. Thank God the crop top wasn’t too revealing because as a woman of a particular size certain parts of the body should be concealed. I like the styling but if I could change anything, It will be that hair of yours. It seems she was running late, so she told her sister to help pack her locks into an up do.

Grace Egbagbe – There always something so graceful about this lady. I like her, but I am sorry this dress isn’t working completely for you, Your lovely meat under your arms are so glaring and it looks like your girls have been really pushed up so tight. I can hardly see her lovely lady curves. It got lost in the fabric. What is really working for this look is her hair and earrings, simply gorgeous.

Florence Ita Giwa – Mama o fe gba, Senator, you look glam o. I can’t deny. She probably told her styling – “Listen, there would be young girls there, so I must come out looking fab o” and the styling rushed to a boutique, picked out this pink dress that covers her bosom and armpits with an Avant-garde neckline and a ruched bodice which has jewels and a flowing skirt. As we all know High class Nigerian female politicians (yes you Patience Jonathan) love to dress up with jewelry upon jewelry, so it was expected she would wear drop earrings, a bracelet, a diamond wrist watch, a diamond ring.

Vanessa Banigo – She is so pretty. I love this Jewel by Lisa look on her. From her swept-to-the-side locks, pink lipstick, emerald and pink earrings, to the dress which features her decolletage and slit that shows off her legs, Def one of the best dressed.

Latasha Ngwube – It must be tough being Latasha and dressing up for events. But having seen pictures of America Ferrera, Octavia Spencer and Adele, dress their bodies so well being women of a particular size, I have to let you know Latasha, this is quite scary.
The dress itself makes it obvious that you are a woman of a particular size. I doubt stripes and glaring double couloured outfits are right for you. If this was probably an emerald green dress it would look so nice. Better luck next time.

Nkiru Anumudu – You know what? I l think you look smashing. From all the fashion posts we have seen on BN, Nkiru is a huge fan of Burberry Prorsum. So it was not a surprise to see her pick a look from the Spring 2014 presentation for the British brand for this event,
Going against the “pink” rules, she definitely stood out in this nude long sleeve blouse and stunning bejeweled sheer skirt. It is simple and chic, befitting for a society woman giving the youthful gals a run for their money.
For years, Nkiru’s signature look has been this long way blonde locks, it needs to be changed but I think that’s what she likes. Her make-up was toned down today, instead of the heavy smokey eyes, she kept it simple and added pink lipstick to match the theme of the event. My problem with this look is that is comes off too matchy matchy in some way. Perhaps the addition of nude heels makes it more disappointing for me.

But ride on girl in your Coscharis.
See her skirt on the runway – style.com/slideshows/fashion-shows/spring-2014-ready-to-wear/burberry-prorsum/collection/45

Yvonne Ekwere – She is growing up. Yvonne is known for ALWAYS picking dresses that are skin tight, leather, but this is fab.

Tomi Odunsi – Pretty girl, could have done better dress.

Mo Abudu – Hmmm? I love orange, I love pink. I actually love that they can and are combined together but I am not in total awe of your dress. But you look nice.

The woman after Teni Sagoe – KILLING IT!

Ruth Osime – The most important thing in life is surely youth. And in our every day lives, we see women who can’t come to terms with the fact that somethings are better left to be worn or seen by crazy teens.
Let’s start from the head, you don’t need this look. Haba, it was cool in the 90s when Sharon Ojong wore this looks for all her movies but this is 2014. You are 50 but this hairstyle ages you by far. Just leave it black and keep it sleek if you intend keeping the low cut or better still find a good wigologist to help you find something that fits your head.
Lipstick – nice, smokey eyes – no mam. It is so not good.
The blouse is too casual. It would be great if you wore this on an outing with your friend Betty Irabor for dinner but not to a ball.
I actually love the pants. It is so chic. I wish you could have incorporated with something that will make you stand out. I wish you wore a cape blazer, those pants and minimal make-up. That way at least, we know you wanted to look fashionable.

Omawumi – You clean up nicely. Nice dress, are the Ankara-wearing days to every event thankfully finally over?

Lisa Omorodion – You and your clan make it obvious you have money to spend. Please hire a stylist.

Data Okorodudu – This look is so dated. I remember a Genevieve Magazine cover with Genny, Ini, Kate and Rita D and it looks like one of the looks they wore. Mind you all. That cover was like 2007.

Laura IkejI – Please get it right. You have changed the world rules that a lady in black is always classy to this lady in black is just awful. The hair, why? The dress should have brought out your curves. But if you still want to look like hootchie mama, ride on.

Beverly Naya – Love it from the black, although it is predictable that you would choose a backless dress and hate it from the front.

Michelle Dede – This could have been one of the best looks of the night but it was not tailored well.

Chinyere Adogu – I adore this look, the execution is just sloppy. The pants are the problem. I don’t even mind the satin material.

Linda Ikeji – Linda chopping life Ikeji. Please less on the chopping because it is showing on your body. No one would believe you were formerly a model. I understand that women’s bodies change over the years but you have the resources, please hit the gym. The dress is actually nice but it is too pageantry and ages you. You look like a mother of 3.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu – Is it just me or does Ebuka purposely pose to the right to push out his butt? Come one dude. Nice suit.

Gbenga Adeyinka – “Shine, shine bobo”. Please less shed a few…

    Lynxxx baby – Mwahhh!!!

Dimeji Alara – He knows what he likes and it is always black. Please try and make us happy to see you at events next time. Remember when he wore this spiked blazer?

Denola Grey – You should have been my pick for best dressed male but I would have to give it to the lynxxx. The pants is making you look bad.

Yup – The best dressed couple is Stephanie and Linus Idahosa.

Girl, you went through the list! Anyways, Linda has always looked matronly to me, thing is, she has some lovely pieces, but just can never achieve a high fashion polished look – I do not think it’s a matter of weight, it just that she does not have that je ne sais quoi. Toke’s dress reminded me of a prom dress with the chiffon piece, but I think I saw some pics with the chiffon removed, and it is actually a nice dress. I love Ene Lawani’s outfit, perhaps my fave, and I quite like that Mochedda and Eku decided to go more youthful with their looks. Agbani was regal, and it’s lovely seeing a major player with a more traditional hairdo. Special mention for the Miss Tourism lady, lovely pantsuit. Overall, more style winners than losers.

Did I read well that ‘…the most important thing in life is youth….’????…

And vixen looks grown up and stylish? …..girlll, the only thing that came to mind when I saw her was Ebola bat! In times such as these, u must apply caution to the cape wearing…cos if it goes wrong……it will be very wrong.

Disappointing looks for me were Eunice Efole and Betty Irabor considering their easy-to-dress bodies.

      Lots of ill fitting garments,

Too many of the ladies look artificial. So unapproachable. Kudos to Tonye Garrick for rocking her own hair, and Agbani Darrego’s cornrows are super sweet. Denola Grey was born to model! If I were Ralph Lauren, I’d hire him in a heartbeat.

eku looks nice but not original… we saw that look on the emmy red carpert earlier in the year. osas def best dressed classy n youthful! that hint of floral stitched pink is on pizziont. miss chinyere in the pink jumpsiut i guess she was going for the easy chic look …. but umm she didnt nail it, the aura wasnt there! mocheddah looked lovely very original and occasion worthy she rocked the hell out that cape. nkiru amadu def!!! looked good!!! gosh the whole top and and skirt put together so effortless. latasha looks lovely in that swirl wrap maxi! perfect look for her shape. omawunmmi looked smashing but im disappointed shes always playing it safe. aunty gbemi ah ah u picked a wrong place and event to rock that white siut look.

But what is this “bae” crap you guys have picked up lately? This gutter language needs to stop for real. What the heck is bae? And you wonder why 3000 + failed the Law School exams? It’s because some of you have chosen social media as your primary means to learn basic English and educate yourselves. It’s not every gutter slang that your stumble upon on the internet that should become your everyday vocabulary . The fact that Kim kardashian, Stevie j, Jocelyn , Ray j etc use certain trash lingo doesn’t mean you should adopt it…these are all college drop outs who are not worth emulating. Pls stay in school young boys and girls,

I thought I was d only one curious/irritated by this ‘bae’ thing…..sounds like the pronounciation of a toddler whose speach is still taking shape…. but adults just keep going with it…. *still sipping my tea*-literally!

      October 20, 2014 at 6:43 pm

And how is it your business, if she has chosen to use the word bae? Is everyone a Lawyer? That you hate it, gives you no right to judge anyone.
Its really irritating when people take to cyber bullying to tell people what and how they should talk and behave. Let people be themselves abeg.
She chose to use a social media slang on social media does not in anyway imply that she uses such slangs at work.
In nutshell! mind your freaking business and stop judging! Jeez!

Seyi Shay, bless God. Tonye Garrick, lovely. Most people, mmua.
There are two kinds of red-carpet looks, in my opinion: the nice look and the “overtry” forced look.
What was the Pink Ball for/about? Hugs Eku. Osas always a goddess. etc etc.

Germaine chill out naa it really isn’t that deep!!! Social media cannot affect your English you either have it or you don’t. And I would have you know that the Bar final exam in Nigeria has VERY little to do with English and a lot to do with your ability to cram/memorise stuff, reason very fast and accurately and answer questions to the point. I am a lawyer so I know. So have some chamomile tea BAE #okbyeee

Osas Ighidaaro’s skin is just flawless. I really wish Fade Ogunro would learn her body type and dress accordingly becuase she’s such a pretty girl that aside. A lot of amazing looks, a huge yes to Tonye Garrick for trying something relatively different, i’m here for it.

Thank you. I applaud you for eloquently stating what I have been trying to say for years about Fade. Nothing seems to suit her all because she hasn’t mastered her frame to figure out what works for her. She has a very different build so what everyone is wearing May not necessarily work for her. She needs to work with a stylist to help her figure out her high points

Everyone looked stunning and thats why i love my fellow Nigerian ladies we always make an effort to look great. I just have to say this though, Tonye garrick looked amazing. I dont know if you guys noticed but why was her picture the only dark one? 90% of the guests stood at the same spot and got bright pictures but hers turned out dark…makes you wonder…a sabotage?? Oh well You still stole the day Tonye garrick.

So does all this pink actually do something? Will women be educated on what to look for and most importantly, how to look for the lumps and where to feel for the lumps? A PSA featuring all these people (radio and tv) would have better served the purpose.

Exactly my question yesterday……It is all about breast cancer, abi? So where are the women that are to be sponsored for breast cancer treatment and so on. Would you believe that the funds are not even available to treat these women? Or believe that they have not gotten the 100 women to sponsor? (plenty they hospital o!) Or that they want to start treating women from diagnosis stage? So these women should wait for you to get money before starting treatment? For crying out loud, the year is almost ended which means the money will be available by 2nd quarter of the year, abi? & do you realise that early diagnosis is the cure? So please explain to us why we paid to do cancer walk, explain to us why we should have paid 25k to attend the ball and who is gaining from payments and yet you cannot start treatment this year.

Eku Edewor was trying too hard to copy JLo but whomever whatever tailor sewed/copied that outfit from JLo did a very bad job , no attention to detail, the seems were puffed up. If you want to copy a high end fashion find a good tailor so you don’t look stupid or just wear what you have that has nothing to do with another person’s fashion and then you will be able to make it your own

How come no one is talking about UGONNA’S copy copy dress?? As usual most of these so called designers didn’t come up with their original ideas? Ugonna definitely copied Zac Posen.. Lol. Anyway I guess you would call yourself a boba fide Designer because you watch Reality Tv shows like Project Runway etc.
    Just my thoughts FYI……
