FG Allocates N500 Daily Feeding Allowance for NYSC Corp Members
The Nigerian government has announced that henceforth National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members will receive N500 as daily feeding allowance.
Director General of the NYSC, Johnson Bamidele Olawumi, made the announcement at a House of Representatives Committee hearing on the N4,000 online registration fee mandated for corps members , Leadership reports.
A civil society group launched a ‘Say No Campaign’ to protest the registration fee. It was during the hearing that Olawumi made the announcement about the new feeding allowance.

naija government and yeye. what of the 4000 naira registration fee, are they going to discontinue it. they want to confuse and bribe us with 500 naira. the matter at hand was the 4000 naira registration fee but they decided to divert our attention.

Don’t get excited so fast, that 500naira is for corps members in camp, beginning from batch C who are coming to join the struggle soon. That is, instead of the 1500 formally allocated to coups members for feeding on a daily basis for the three weeks camping, it has been reduced to 500naira daily. Its more like a punishment, I THINK.

Whether you like it or not,its still a good move,at least b4 there was no daily feeding allowance,i also feel the 4000 fee should optional, there are people who will prefer to pay the 4k than traveling to their school with the transport fare and other expenses involve particularly when your school is far and you have to spend the night.

Exactly. I was surprised to hear on the radio that the fee was to download call up letter. I schooled in PH, live in Abuja, and was posted to Ogun, I flew to PH, then back to Abj, and then to Lag, and finally road to Sagamu. I would gladly have paid more than 4k sef to avoid d Abj-Ph return.

Well like every other policy my young self has seen the government made, i can only hope it is for the right reasons and can be upheld. We’ve had enough of campaign-related policies enacted on the premises of getting us to look the other way, so i’m really gonna hope that isn’t the case here because i wonder how a government that wants to give you 15,000 monthly(180,000 in a year) cannot make the online servicing of 4,000 free as well.

but the N4ooo is optional. if you want to physically pick it up, it’s free. if you want to do online, you pay the N4,000. it’s not such a big deal, you just wiegh your options

You people complain over everything. The N4000 actually saved me a lot of money in transport and accommodation expenses. If i were to travel from Lagos to Abuja to collect it, I would spend no less than N12,000 on transport alone. Include accommodation and feeding and do the math.
They were saying it’s not compulsory. Na lie. Immediately I paid the damn N4,060, my callup number entered my email instanta!
Smart people.
