Nigeria is not ready to be serious. This is no joke anymore and we should stop making jokes out of it.
She needs to stop speaking in public if she doesnt want to learn how to speak good english.

yes……she sounds funny…..incoherent….but is our dear general buhari any better. ..I can’t understand anything he says……and Nigerians are ready to vote him for president…..yet here you all are making fun of the 1st lady. #hypocrites

Actually he’s way better as he was able to express himself well above retardation level unlike our noble president and his wife. speaking good and correct English is quiet different from understanding the language. GEJ speak English but i don’t think he understand the language fully.

    • To fake Nigerians

      February 9, 2015 at 10:33 pm

MOST OF THE OVER-COLONISED FOOLS LAUGHING AT HER [because her parents sent her to schools they could afford where SHE LEARNT to speak as she does] HAVE MOTHERS OR GRANDMOTHERS WHO SPEAK IN A SIMILAR MANNER: Hypocrites!!!

I have a message for you minions of English language – IF YOUR PARENTS SENT YOU TO SCHOOL AT HER PRIMARY SCHOOL & SECONDARY SCHOOL, YOU MAY HAVE ENDED UP SPEAKING LIKE HER.

Perhaps, it may take one more generation for the slow ones to realise that English language is merely a lingua franca for non-native speakers… Whether you speak it well or not is a function of your educational background – and therefore not a laughing matter… Put conversely, that you speak excellent English ”no be property”*

WHAT IS BY FAR MORE DISTURBING & DISGRACEFUL IN OUR COUNTRY IS THAT SOME LOST SOULS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO speak and spell their native language excellently – with idioms and proverbs to boot*** I find that those ignorant ones [who have been well and truly colonised] are the ones that laugh the loudest!

      STOP CHASING SHADOWS.

Really? But she is supposed to be a UNIVERSITY GRADUATE for crying out loud? Until some months ago, she was a PERMANENT SECRETARY in the Bayelsa State Civil Service.

She is the wife of the president of the most populous black nation on earth, Nigerians are known to speak eloquently….peoples mothers and grandmothers aren’t wives of president and as such don’t need to speak publicly for the world to listen…. my issue is when the young generation speaks so low like this then we probably cant have good leaders we would always present a lack of leadership person like Jonathan. #SHAME

..i am very certain stubbornness is embedded in this woman and hardly takes advice even from her husband. A courteous woman would heed to advice or at least be ashamed from the aftermath of the drama, ” there’s God ooooo” ..

The bible had said it all, “iron sharpneth iron” . And i won’t be surprised if our economy and democracy keep dwindling if this is kind of iron that sharpens our President on a daily basis…There’s fire on the mountain oooo my Naija people…

    • To the simple minds

      February 9, 2015 at 10:51 pm

THAT A PERSON DOES NOT SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT INTELLIGENT.

If you went to University in Nigeria, you would have found that the quite a lot of the brightest students are usually those from very poor backgrounds who do not speak excellent English.

You, who writes excellent ‘non-native speaker’ level English; did you graduate top of your class at Uni? I know you didn’t, cause the very bright ones already know that AN EXCELLENT ENGLISH SPEAKER IS NOT = TO AN INTELLECTUAL!!!

If your parents were of the same social status as hers, and sent you to a primary school and secondary school similar to the ones she attended, you may have ended up speaking like her…

If you have an open mind, you would not assess her short-comings from a place of condescension and odium; but rather look at it from a logical point of view!

Incidentally, how well does/did you grandmother or great-grand mother speak English?… That’s a few degrees of separation*

    • Ready

      February 9, 2015 at 11:34 pm

Calm your bouncing tittays and stop creating new names to rebut truths on the internet. Evidently, her grammar isn’t the only problem here, it’s her inability to construct a coherent train (pun intended) of thought. I would like to request that you calmly point us to a decent speech or intelligent initiative that she has made, rather than going on this your campaign of calumny where you talk about people’s grandmothers.

Mama Peace 2019!! We must continue the Jonathan Negacy! We must all join the Tray….because e go leave us behind oh!

If Hillary can do it why not Mama Peace. She would have had an awesome pedigree by then:
    – a distinguished civil service career
    – distinguished permanent secretary
    – the best First Lady we have ever had and the longest serving May 2010 – May 2019
    – future foreign affairs minister June 2015 – June 2018

At least we will never be sick if she becomes president because “laughter is the best medicine”!

On a more serious note: when Bill Clinton was running for president he said that if elected America was going to get “two for the price of one” – meaning himself and Hillary. With GEJ and Mama Peace we definitely got 3/4 (three quarters) for the price of one.

I find it sad that we continue to pick on this woman, that she is semi-literate or literate yet speaks the ways she does is an indictment of our educational system. After a while, it stops being funny and borders on cyber bullying and misogyny the way we keep making fun of her. Nigerians voted her husband and alas she is his wife. We need to campaign for him to send her to polishing school or something

  42. Vic.

Lord have mercy, abeg na who born this woman? How Many years in public domain or office, from days of vice governor’s wife…to governor wife …to Vice President wife and president wife yet no good communication skills , why can’t she be trained on public speaking. GEJ will get lots of votes from women because he is a modern man who believes women should be heard.
Beside every successful man should be his wife.
If you are one of those men who lock their wives up, please stop! This is the 21st century.

If APC cares so much about English language they should not have picked Buhari. He is supposed to be the president for heaven’s sake.

Our grammatically correct Nigerians know there are lots of people in Nigeria who speak like this ( don’t even get me started on the university degree thing, we know that’s not a factor here), Patience just happens to be married to the president.
    P.S I love this woman.

I see no reason why Nigerian pick on this woman. I think your problem is that you see alot of Nigerian movies. Everyone must no be perfect, you should know that. And Jonathan cannot divorce her because of her diction.
Most of the people that crucify this woman cannot engage in reasonable discussion that will be geared towards national development. At times I even query myself about the intelligence of those that criticize this woman; is it not all these guys I see that update nonsense in social media? Please spare me that nonsense.
