AKA’s South African Fans Call Him Out for Saying ‘I feel more respected and welcomed in Nigeria than I do in South Africa’
South African rapper AKA was in Lagos for a couple of days as he attended different events like the One Mic Naija and also made a few radio stops promoting his album.
While the 27-year-old rapper had quite an exciting experience in Nigeria, his South African fans are not too pleased with him after he let out his frustration about the media, feeling unappreciated and more via his Twitter account.
He wrote:
No … I am not back on Twitter … My life is muuuuuuch more enjoyable without it … I’ll just check in from time to time mmmkay? Thanks

I appreciate all the fans and family and miss the interaction with them on a daily basis … That is the ONLY thing I miss about Twitter.

It just got to a point where people couldn’t say anything bad about my music, so they resorted to focusing on my tweets to discredit me ..
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
Media isn’t interested in reporting about my tour, or my successes or my triumphs, they are more interested in “What will AKA tweet today”

I always used my personality, humor and intelligence on Twitter to connect with people … Now media uses it to crucify me.

If you want to “know me” … Listen to my music … Everything you need is right there …
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
My Twitter account has provided media with countless articles, inserts, blog posts etc … Better I don’t share my personality anymore.

If you check my social media activity you’re going to find pies and negativity and bull**** instead of what I’m ACTUALLY well known for.
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
Anyways, back to regular scheduled programming …. Nice and clean, un opinionated Twitter …
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
It will never be enough … I’m representing my country in Africa and to the world and what do I get? Disrespect, backlash and negativity
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
I feel more respected and welcomed in Nigeria than I do in South Africa. And that’s the sad truth ….
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
Ok, last vent … I’m done …
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
Just had an enlightening pep talk. I’m back on Twitter ? … And I’ve got it all figured out …
— AKA (@akaworldwide) April 28, 2015
A few rotten apples shouldn’t spoil the fun for everyone … I’m committed to spreading positivity and love to my fans … ?
