Empowering Women by Changing their Wardrobes! Watch Funke Fowler Kuku on ‘Heart of the Matter’ with Omilola Oshikoya

Leila Olufunke Fowler & Omilola Oshikoya

Omilola Oshikoya & Funke Fowler Kuku

From a woman with Stage 4 Breast Cancer to another living at Dustbin Village, Funke Leila Fowler Kuku is on a mission to empower as many women as she can with her Dress for Success Nigeria Initiative.

Funke conceived the idea after going through a difficult year herself after which she decided to do something for other women going through rough patches – even if it is making them happy with their wardrobe.

The Heart of the Matter with Omilola Oshikoya aims at featuring amazing people making a change in the world in their own special way.

On this episode of HOTM, Omilola chats with Funke on her journey to empowering women by changing their wardrobes and giving them an amazing make-over experience.

It is truly an inspiring clip.

uhmmmm hunny, she has long dropped the kuku name. who wants to be attached to a cheater and abuser for the rest of their life???? they are not together anymore, please let her be.

Dear Funke Fowler (Leila ko, Sheila ni) – Are you really the founder of “Dress for Success”??. It thought it was an existing initiative that is replicated around the world. idk sha. It must be American, cos it was on an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians and Basketball wives. No one is saying u cant use the name but don’t copy them to the T and form Madam founder. Why not use “Executive Director”???
anywho, love what you are doing. Beautiful heart and beautiful woman. This is wat I call “money find road”, cos she is using her wealth with a purpose.

Why are people like this?! Her full name is Leila Olufunke Fowler. She was named for her grandmother. The Dress for Success initiative while inspired by others was founded by Funke in Nigeria. Simple. Go away with your passive-aggressive ITK self.

@hmmm – it wasn’t founded by “Leila Fowler”. biko learn the meaning of “founded” in regards to starting non-profit initiatives. busy body, Leila is simply the executive director/ Nigerian partner and not the founder.
Nigerians sha love to make themselves important with titles. Please address me as “Resident commenter ITK”. thanks!!!

It is an American thing. I can’t believe how she shamelessly stole it. I will report her. Pilferer!

The name of the organization as been changed.
However, from a copyright and trademark perspective, unless an organization registers their trademark internationally, it can actually be used.

Gorgeous girls. The canary yellow dress is beautiful. Funke. Hmm elegant as usual. Good initiative. A smile and a cuppa is enough to uplift a woman going thru stress. At times just a phone and invitation to lunch or window shopping or shopping. goes a long way to a woman facing difficulties. From a stressful job. Abused marriage. Infidelities. Not feeling attractive again. Weight loss. Job loss. Inadequacy. Fatigue or loss of a loved one. Pls lets watch out for ourselves. Particularly those living in western world. Its easier in nigeria i presume cuz of family support. It can be lonely out there.

    First things first….

I checked as miss kuku mentioned and its not connecting….oh wait, she forgot to mention WWWDOT what ever the website is…..Yet u people wont let the NSCDC man rest..She a very ‘literate’ woman made the same mistake some dude was ridiculed endlessly for……

Also, these women in the video, are they from the trash dumps as she kept mentioning in the interview? Although this is a good thing, how can she just steal idea and name of business from a foreign well known brand? Isn’t it plagiarism nii? Can I develop an app and call it facebook nii?

Nigerians stay behaving badly….. Find an innovative name for ur business….and don’t go about stealing other peoples business models. Anyhoo…thank u for the good work in progress….Still needs some work.

I think her dad baba tunde fowler is in charge of taxes in lagos. apparently these people keep stopping from shop to shop asking for money and we don’t see what they use the money for. Sometimes they charge taxes beyond what the state declared. Even sometimes asking for taxes that don’t make sense. anyways her family have stolen enough money then they give the people less than 1% of what is stolen. We nigerians are not fouls abeg remit all taxes paid by nigerians into proper use instead of using it to promote your business or initiative. we deserve good roads, schools, hosiptals, education and these is not what our taxes should be used for to promote a politicians daughters business so crap.

This comment is for Omilola, not to put you down but just as an advice. Your tone through out the interview was monotonous, additionally you repeatedly asked her the same questions. You should be more attentive and engaging in the interview and add some voice dynamics.

I am shocked at this interview. She used the word “And” like a million times, I was turned off. Very pretty and elegant lady still.

Why can’t we women support and encourage each other . This lady is doing something beautiful from the goodness of her heart to support stressful women or women going thru a bad patch in life . No matter where she got the idea from .she’s doing something . Strong people left others up and not pull people down . We’ll done Funke and God bless you .

Fake ass. First she pronounces her own name Funke like that, then pronounces Ayodele funny, and then ‘mistakenly’ pronounces Project Ayodele properly at around the 5:00-minute mark. I stopped watching. Sorry, can’t deal.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Read up on what others have done and improve on it . I just can’t stand it when people especially ladies think they have to pull another woman down. . Look at men always supporting each other no matter what. . That’s why they are a stronger team. . We need to support our dreams and efforts . I came it late last night made the previous comment I had to finish it this morning . Funke I don’t know you but my God will bless your heart . Ladies out there lift each other up and build a stronger sisterhood .

I don’t know much about her personality, but if the comments are any indication, then na wa. Either way, the initiative is great and Funke is doing a good thing. I was really inspired hearing the women’s stories.

Well done Funke. You are also eloquent. You have a passion for clothes Sonora refereshing that you have married your passion with a positive social goal. Only thing you need to do is smile more 🙂 you remind me of Victoria Beckham who used to receive a lot of criticism because she didn’t smile often. Lol .

May God continue to be with you. I’m sorry about your marriage but the best is yet to come for you. xxxxxxx

funke we understand to an extent that you are a spoilt rich brat, who just has to cry to daddy (tunde fowler lirs money)and get what u want, I think funke is bored and needs where to channel her energy…. does she give out all her designer garbs. (innocent question)
i do like that shes pretty, tall , long hair bla bla , but seriously Funke does all these come from a genuine place and not for something else.
