Over 60 people have been killed by Boko Haram in Yobe State in fresh attacks.

The terrorists attacked Kukuwa – Gari in Gulani Local Government Area of the state, Punch reports.

Spokesman for the Yobe State Police Command, Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed the attack. However, he was unable to confirm the casualty figure.

“I can confirm that there was an attack at Kukuwa village and the police and other security operatives were able to repel the Boko Haram attackers. We are not aware of the high death toll,” he said.

Abubakar Aliyu, a member of a local vigilance group in the area told newsmen that over 60 people died.

“Most of the villagers were drowned in the river which was flooded by the downpour while others were shot dead by the terrorists. The terrorists invaded Kukuwa-Gari village and its environs on motorcycles and trucks and started shooting at every possible target.

Some of us in the local vigilance group and some security officials could not withstand the Boko Haram terrorists’ firepower as they were over 50 and were heavily armed.

I was able to hide in the bush for two days, when I came out, many dead bodies which is far more than 60 were seen close to the river bank. Most of us could not communicate with people in Damaturu, the state capital, because telecommunication masks have been blown off by the insurgents,” he said.

Buhari, wake up? These Boko haram attacks is getting out of control. What are your plans and strategies to eradicate them? While we are reading headlines every second about you probing last administration, we need headline about actions taken to stop these deadly attacks.

I have noticed how the cries of outrage that plagued the previous administration because of boko haram attacks have died down. Even the comments on blogs on boko haram have reduced, even in newspapers. There are no more cries of “clueless one”. Why is that? Mr. Buhari said he would crush boko haram in two months (if i’m not mistaken”). He didn’t say he would negotiate, or bargain with them, he said he would crush them. By next week, he would have spent three months in office and it seems like these animals have gotten bolder with the attacks. Everything that Jonathan did to tackle Boko Haram is the same thing Buhari is doing now. So what exactly did he plan to do differently that made him declare “I will crush Boko Haram”? SMDH. Where is the BBOG group? Why is no one protesting? Innocent men, women and children are dying every day and now it seems like it’s a normal thing. I am really ashamed of this country. Someone lied to Nigerians with the promise of change, almost 3 months later, nothing has changed and we are all quiet and making excuses. What new policies have we heard of? What is the new thing that has been done? If someone were to do a 3 month report card, what would be on that report card? Big shame.
