It’s another day of the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week 2015, and BellaNaija Beauty has been exclusively taking you behind the scenes of Maybelline New York Nigeria makeup artist, Bimpe Onakoya‘s return to the exciting fashion week.
We kicked off two days ago, where we saw Bimpe create flawless looks for the Marissa Webb showcase, then she went on to do makeup at Jason Wu, and give top model Jourdan Dunn a flawless look for NYFW.
Today, it’s all about bold eyes, plus-size model features and Alek Wek!
When we asked Bimpe which model she would love to do makeup for in a recent interview, she said Alek Wek. Even though she eventually got her wish, Bimpe got to do it all over again at the Chromat featuring Intel Collaboration fashion showcase on Friday 11th Sept. 2015.
She prepped Alek for the opening show, giving her bold blue eyebrows and bold short streaks of red eyeshadow under eye – the themed makeup for the show. The colours are very Spring/Summer appropriate, and are a welcomed alternative to the typical shimmery, glowing makeup we usually see for the season.
The Chromat showcase was headed by the celebrated supermodel, but that was not all that got tongues wagging. Fashion stakeholders as well as members of the press were pleasantly surprised, as the fashion label featured 2 plus-size models – Denise Bidot & Sabina Karlsson – on its runway.
The brand has been getting kudos from certain members of the fashion industry, as well as members of the plus-size community.
The models showed off colourful swimwear which matched the makeup…
…and a signature haute couture piece that closed the show.
Alek was the model of choice to showcase the couture pueces and talk on the collection at a ‘Fashion meets Technology’ panel with journalist, Nina Garcia; Intel New Technology Group General Manager, Josh Walden; and Chromat designer, Becca McCharen yesterday
We still have days of fashion to go, so don’t forget to keep it locked on BellaNaija.com/Beauty for of Bimpe’s journey to fashion week!
