If you grew up in a Nigerian household, then there is a huge chance that you remember classic Nollywood favourite, Living in Bondage. Well, a little birdie told us that the movie is going to be remade.

Award-winning Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah and entertainment/business mogul, Charles Okpaleke, are teaming up to remake the movie.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • The duo have purchased rights to the movie from Kenneth Nnegbue, and production is set to kick off in 2016
  • It is going to be shot on three continents – Africa, Europe and America
  • The movie will have a star-studded Nollywood cast and perhaps some Hollywood involvement

Sounds exciting! We can’t wait to see how the remake turns out. In the meantime, guess we’ll have to watch the 1992 version while we anticipate the remake:

Loooool! @ Paulo akowasirom ife a hahahahhahaha! My younger bro still uses that line if he wants to form daft. They dare not speak English na…The film will just become useless. They had better do it in Igbo so that people who were yet to be born then will get the feel. It would have been better if they just enhanced the images and subtitled it instead of reacting a new one.

Why??? We have so much stories to tell and yet we choose to go back to spoil a good one?? We are not very creative. Yes Hollywood re-produce their classics too, but I think Hollywood has earned the right to do so. They have told so much stories about themselves already. They make maximum use of their film industry to educate the world about (USA), they promote their military, high school, history, etc. What patriotic theme (or even moral theme) do our films teach?? Yes there are a few good ones BUT we aven’t earned the right yet to re-do classics.

I use to think Andy Okeke was handsome, then I grew up. What happened to Paulo, he was Jerry in Nneka the pretty sarpent I don’t remember seeing him in other classics. Anyway please whoever is in charge should do justice to this movie. If this one works out, they Shou,d think of remaking true confessions and atrocity.

Yes we have pretty good stories that need to be re-told with a new cast to this generation. Movies like Intimate Strangers (Damn Eucharia & Edith Jane Azu killed their characters + superb storyline)
Out of Bounds (you will fear Bimbo Akintola’s sex appeal in this movie, don’t mess with her tutu)
Daybreak (slightly boring but with a good twist to the plot, it should be a good remake. Omotola was amazing in it though, ohh her lanky sexy self then)

Some few Yoruba ones I saw with our neighbours back then such as Saworoide (very relevant with the current state of our economy) and also this very thought provoking one, Orire, brilliant.

There was this movie called Family Ties….I don’t really remember the storyline but I think it was really good. They should remake that! Even Hostages…The helicopter scene could use some technology advancement lol
