7After the mega success of his movie “30 Days in Atlanta”, Enterprising star comedian AY Makun is set to release a new project titled “A Trip to JamaicaAnother Akpos Adventure” soon.

The official release tells us, “The movie which is the second installment of the Akpos franchise is billed to raise the comedic bar set by the hilarious ’30 Days In Atlanta’ which set the record as the highest grossing cinema movie in Nigeria till date.”

1Shot in Nigeria, the United States of America and Jamaica, the film showcases Akpos (AY) and his fiancée Bola (Funke Akindele) as they travel across the Atlantic to visit family, they unexpectedly end up on an adventure. From Nigeria to America to the beautiful island of Jamaica, this is a movie that is both designed to keep viewers reeling with laughter as well as bridge the gap between Hollywood, Nollywood and Jamaica’s film industry.

25“A Trip To Jamaica” features Hollywood actors including Eric Roberts and Dan Davies while the Jamaica cast includes Paul Campbell (of 3rd World Cup) and Rebecca Silvera (Former Miss Jamaica). Ghanaian and Nigerian stars Chris Attoh, AY, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe Etim, Patoranking, Cynthia Morgan and Ras Kimono shine brightly.

The movie which will surely appeal to the teeming international ‘Akpos’ fanbase is directed by Robert Peters, and written by Dianne Diaz and AY.

“Mr IBU in london”, “coming to america”, “30days in Atlanta”, “basira in London”, now it is “AY in Jamaica”……. Me thinks this is fast becoming an overused troupe?

That is how AY is juggling between being a comedian and an actor. good job AY but must you fight in all your movies? hope this does not become a trend.

the idea is great – take us on a world tour.
the 30 days film – i was told it was sooo funny , that i had to see it , i tried and tried and slept and slept trying to see the funny in it. i’d watch it for Chris Attoh, to see Jamaica and Jamaicans, and for Funke Akindele (if she’s not overacting the funny). I’d skip it for Nse Ikpe – dunno what she did to me, fatha lawd, she’s like my Naija Beyonce, can’t stand for some reason. already the cry-cry photo annoys me. AY as a brand means nothing to me, i think he used to do AY Live and he brings/brought comedians together, like i said the film of his that i tried was impossible to love. But SOME PEOPLE REALLY REALLY LOVED IT, so I’m not hating, just stating, as per Roger Ebert review.
    Good luck y’all.

I agree with you, I’m still trying to understand what all the hype was with 30 days in Atlanta. It lacked major substance.

Look ehn Tosin, that 30days in atlanta is actually a stooopid movie! There was so much hype about it, a friend and I got it on youtube to watch. I could not believe the pathetic storyline and the ignorant portrayal of how Nigerians act when they supposedly travel for the first time. That idea of shouting at everyone on the street because they are kissing or have stubborn kids makes me cringe in embarrassment! Why on earth would I want to show that to my American colleagues/friends? To inform them I come from a ‘bush’ continent or what? Or that we have no idea of what is outside our continent? This kind of movie is why some people say in surprise ‘you speak English well for a Nigerian’..of course I speak English well. That is our common language! I can bet my last dollar this new Jamaican movie is going to be another idiotic movie!

Can’t you guys appreciate someone’s work for once in your entire lives. Everyone is here typing nonsense. AY this, Ay that. If you all like criticise him from now to tomorrow, he will still be making his money and living large.

30 days in Atlanta not funny my foot. Thousands of people out there saw it funny and appreciated it. So, stick your ‘not funny opinion’ in your side pocket. Sadist…

It is not that serious. Are you suggesting that you have liked every single movie you’ve seen in your entire life? We know the answer to that is no. So if you have ever disliked a movie (which you most certainly have), then you are also a sadist!
DO you see how immature and irrational your comment sounds? I just watched 30 Days in Atlanta Yesterday (thanks BN) and I was so surprised at how mediocre it was. I had to pause it several times just to finish it. Based on the hype, I was expecting it to be funny, witty, and well-written. I have seen other Nigerian movies (comedies) that are far superior to this one. I guess when you have the cash, you can buy interest in a movie. The only positive about that movie is Ramsey Nouah – his acting was more authentic.

My dear the Waffi audience understands the 30 days in Atlanta and I watched on my KLM flight and I was laughing all through, because except you have lived in Delta and understand pidgin English and Waffi slangs, you will not understand how far! Moreover the movie was showing inflight with top box office movies! I am not a nollywood fan, I would rather watch yoruba movies, and AY Akpos series is hilarious as long as I am concerned. I am so looking forward to cracking my ribs with the Jamo version and Jenifa on fleek! Una problem too many for Nigeria, that is why you guys are so up tight and cannot enjoy and have fun! The guy dey enter Hollywood small smaall! Una dey there! Ay can milk the Akpos series as his cash cow and so far he is not borrowing your monies to produce, just care less! You are free to critique the series but same way those of that enjoyed it are happy to watch more and most of you on here should channel your aggression towards your failed leaders in Nigeria who have kept youths jobless for decades! AY don escape with him family!I do not know AY personally but he has done well for himself,at least horned his talent and passion,he did not sell his conscience during the last elections but focused on his trade and now he is exporting his skills abroad, he did not buy or sell o! He did carry money to China to buy fake goods, but just exporting his gragra Warri talent! So look inwards and find your passion and translate to cash! Jenifa(Funke Akindele) is doing same and before you will know the whole world will be watching our shows!

I really enjoyed 30 days in Atlanta. It was hilarious. The Opinion of persons who felt It was not that hilarious is their Opinion. And these differences in Opinions make a balance for the Producers to see where they may have gotten it all wrong, where they can make amends and where they have scored an A+. I believe Positive Criticism with possible solutions on how the Movie should look like be encouraged and emphasised instead of criticizing alone. AY Thumbs Up. I am really impressed. Looking Forward to this Movie. I just Pray Aba and Alaba Boys will not make your movie loose worth.

Pessimist they are, critics all the way. What is wrong in showcasing your talent, Ay is doing fine as well as Funke and if theirmovies are not funny to you make ur own funny movie…. Fuck off sadist!…
