E! held a special red carpet event last night in South Africa as its Africa E! News Special profile series has also been renewed for a second season.

The E! News Special profile series was introduced last year (click here if you missed it) and in 2016 E! will also produce a second season.

The announcement about the show was made last night at a stylish rooftop fashion show party packed with South African celebrities with designer Gert-Johan Coetzee also unveiling a brand-new red carpet inspired fashion range.

Host of the night was Bonang Matheba.

What?! SA celebs are giving Naija celebs a hot chase for their money! This is what a red carpet should look like! And their bodies are banging!!

      February 12, 2016 at 11:33 am

Their celebs don’t eat “swallow” and drink malt by day and prance down red carpets at night hence the banging bods. No hating. Lol

Their celebs actually “swallow” pap. Smh, you guys are shallow.

So which other African Country do you have in mind?

What a ridiculous question. South Africa is not the only African country. Most westerners think South Africa is the whole of Africa. Other Africans aren’t saying they necessarily want to be a part, but that the name should be changed to E South Africa. South Africa isn’t all of Africa.
And to answer your funny question: what happened to countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, etc. ? The truth is, when you think of African entertainment, you think about Nigeria. Although I’m Ghanaian, Nigeria makes African entertainment.

Shut the hell up, am Nigerian and I don’t think Nigeria is ready for this….OH! I just remembered you’re Ghanaian….smfh

Guys, lets be honest o. in terms of architecture, national roads and basic human rights (Living conditions) SA is one of the best in AFRICA o. no be lie. So instead of hating on E, why cant we learn and improve our own here, so we become a little more modern like SA – sha, you just have to see the place to see why its considered the US of AFRICA . Simple things like water and lights and allow me just gist on the comfort of the roads vs lagos traffic haba! lets not hate o. I love my country but for a country in Africa – they are pretty better than most o. How many of us can drink water straight from the tap here na without fear of some dreaded disease coming about. Simple things people o. Congrats to SA and the marriage to E -entertainment

Your comment doesn’t make much sense; I’m sorry. They’re not talking about infrastructure, what does that have to do with the points the commenters are making? I don’t understand how some of you reason or understand things. They are simply saying South Africa doesn’t make up of all Africa, so the name should be changed. You can’t say E Africa and have just South Africa. That’s what people are saying and you’re talking about infrastructure and basic human rights. Basic human right, indeed. Please, read and understand before you start typing irrelevant and insignificant information.

lOL…I thought there can never be anything close to Joburg traffic? Lagos must be very bad hey.

    • Chipo

      February 12, 2016 at 4:57 pm

Duh, there’s traffic in Lagos, there’s traffic in Johannesburg, there’s traffic in New York, there’s traffic in Toronto, etc. Theres traffic in major cities! How does that make the city good/bad? Some of you need to invest in brains, the good thing is; it is inexpensive.

Lol E is clearly clueless. Been watching their E Africa special and it covers only South Africans, with the exception of Dbanj (I’m guessing cause he dated Bonang). Now the party is in South Africa, for South Africans. Lol please South Africa is not AFRICA, and tbh if you want to tell real stories and meet real stars (that aren’t just OAP’s or what have you) Nigeria is a place to start from. But hey, since you guys think we are not ‘tush’ enough, please sit and mingle with the Africans that have the ‘American’ appeal.

well said bella, pple stop hating on south africa. this country like bella said has the best of everything and its a fact, @ christian sister u r ryt wen u said Nigeria could have been the place they could start with but do u guys hv good roads and nice infrastructure? NO. To be honest most red carperts events in Nigeria most celebrities dont really know how to dress for the red carpert. i leave in SA but am not a south africa but celebrities here they know how to rock red carpert events other than other african countries. i also dont like the way they do AMVC AWARDS i think if they are to give south africa to host AMVC i think they would do a better job hosting them than nigeria. Thou i feel they should have invited other African contries so they could be part of the E NEWS even. well done SA

      Where are you from?
By the way, it was painful reading your irrational comment. Weren’t you thought the use of punctuation marks in high school? If you work or have a business, I wonder how you write reports.
No one is hating on South Africa, quite frankly there’s nothing to hate in my opinion. Not everything is “hate”, is that the only word in you guys vocabulary? That word is used carelessly these days. AMVCA? Are you kidding me? Clearly you have no sense, you’re probably a South African who thinks everything African should be South African. Please put your brain to good use, no one is “hating” on South Africa. Other Africans are particularly saying you cannot have a program that states Africa, and have only South Africa. That can’t be too difficult for you to understand. South Africa isn’t Africa, the name should be reclassified to E South Africa. It’s not even a big enough deal for people to “hate”. Really.

I am Nigerian, love my country and celebrities to the core but I ain’t even gonna front, SA ladies look much better on the red carpet sans bleached skin and fat tummies.

What has the weather got to do with the fact that South Africa doesn’t make up all of Africa? Why are some of you so petty? What an unintelligent comment. This isn’t about Nigeria or South Africa, or the outrageous points you’re making. South Africa doesn’t make up all of Africa, (Nigeria included). A lot of other Africans pointed that; the fact that South Africa isn’t all of Africa. You’re busy talking about weather and fashion. It’s so incredibly shocking how shallow many individuals are, smh.

    February 12, 2016 at 1:24 pm

But then again they’ve got really good weather. With Lagos and Abuja sun, uneven skin tone is a big problem and we are constantly trying to even out our skin tone.

Great event with beautiful people though it coincided with our State Of The Nation Address. It’s good that E! is seeing and recognising the booming African entertainment scene.

As for the “South Africa is not Africa” congregation, SMH! What’s your point really? must E! host launch events in all 50+ African countries for you to be happy and satisfied? I’m afraid that would be a total waste of resources and time. Unfortunately or fortunately, at the PRESENT MOMENT South Africa remains the most ideal location to host WORLD CLASS events in the African continent. That actually transcends beyond the showbiz industry, a big chunk of foreign investment into Africa goes to South Africa. That is all due to the business climate that South Africa provides coupled with many others factor (e.g infrastructure, political conditions, safety & security. Hopefully other African countries are learning and improving too. To E! hosting this do in SA with SA celebs and personalities made business sense (just as it would to any sane business-minded person). There’s no need to be emotional or buthurt over this!

    • Chipo

      February 12, 2016 at 4:51 pm

You have no brain, I’m sorry. South Africa is a business climate? I’m from Zimbabwe and anyone who knows anything about business or economics will tell you in terms of money, Nigeria has a huge market. We can hate Nigeria all we want, they have the best economy in Africa and that’s why against all odds, investors fly in to invest from all over the world. Secondly, it’s no secret that in terms of entertainment, Nigeria is number 1 in Africa, it’s the fact. The whole of Africa knows this, There’s no African country you go to that the citizens aren’t familiar with Nigerian entertainment, music, movies, etc. I mean, even their movie industry that was number 3 in the world has now become number 2. In terms of acting, Nigeria is probably one of the few or only African country that their movies are known and their actors are recognized worldwide, I hate to admit it but it’s the fact. But that’s far from the point, other Africans are not saying it’s compulsory all African countries are included (if that’s what you drew from the comment then you lack comprehension skills), they’re only saying that South Africa doesn’t make Africa and that’s the simple truth. Some naive westerners actually think South Africa is all of Africa. You cannot have a show that says Africa and have just South Africa. That’s the point. Better it’s renamed to E! South Africa. In terms of money and popularity, and no offense, E! made a huge mistake using just South Africa.

      BongzZulu_RSA ,
Did you just put SA and security in the same sentence? I hope you do realize that SA has the highest crime rate in the world? Also, no one is talking about weather, beauty, infrastructure, or whatever. They’re just saying this should called South African, not African. To be honest, as far as entertainment is concerned, I’ll rather watch a paint dry than watching South African entertainment. When you think of African entertainment, South Africa is certainly not the country that comes to one’s mind.

And SA is not Africa typical of American ignorance.
