It”s funny how we don’t appreciate our own enough. ASA and Nneka comes to mind. They command great respect outside Nigeria. This is d same reason someone like David Beckham is more celebrated than our very own JJ okocha around d world even though okocha is far talented, skillful, and entertaining than him.. The English understands d importance of hyping English celeb to d point where d rest of d world has no choice but to believe d hype, and it keeps working. My point is, let’s support our own instead of always looking for d negative. This way Nigeria can conquer d world.

do we have to cry before we “celebrate”our own? the fact we pay to go to their shows, buy their albums we are celebrating them. its not till we cry like dummies and throw ourselves on the floor before we celebrate them. we have more things to cry about than a fellow being who entertains us, the situation of the country wont even allow you.

Flex, you’re on point. Some of these comments are hypocritical. Think about a foreign artist you love so much because of his music, styles and demeanour. The day you meet him one-on-one and the circumstance of that meeting can be overwhelming. Flavour has tremendous number of fans in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa. Cameroon shots down, Congo, Kenya, Uganda etc whenever he comes to perform. We are different species. Every regime, be it military (Soldiers) or democratic (Politicians) have left us with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); that is why we can’t celebrate other peoples’ successes or appreciate our own. Skepticism has given way to jealousy.
