Dino Melaye Says Remi Tinubu “Splashed” N75 million to Sponsor “anti-Melaye” Protests in Abuja

Following the protests against him in Lagos and Osun states, and the request for police protection from him by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has issued a statement, alleging that Tinubu has rolled out N75 million to sponsor “anti-Melaye” protests in Abuja this Wednesday.

According to Melaye, a civil rights movement, Committee for the Defence of Women’s Rights (CDWR) uncovered the plan by Tinubu.

Melaye, in a post on his Facebook page titled “Tinubu plans anti-Melaye protests in Abuja, splashes N75 million on Kemi Nelson, others,” quoted the National President of CDWR, Professor Taibat Majekodunmi, as saying:

We have it on good authority that N75 million has been released by Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Kemi Nelson through Tinubu’s sister called Funlola. The money is to organise a protest in Abuja on Wednesday against the chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dino Melaye, with 1,000 protesters from Lagos.

The protesters have booked for 300 rooms in some in hotels in Abuja. Why did she not organise a protest against the hardship of Nigerian women and widows. As we speak, Alade market in Ogba area of Lagos has been destroyed and all the women rendered shopless. Oluremi Tinubu did not organise protest about that.

Against the provisions of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kemi Nelson doubles at the State APC Women leader in Lagos and also the zonal women leader of APC in the South West. This will show her greediness and why the Tinubu dynasty has taken over Lagos.

Women were killed in Kano and Abuja and Mrs. Tinubu is the chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs. She did not organise protest over these killings. Mrs. Tinubu has not protested against the skyrocketed price of tomatoes in the market. In the same vein, kerosene is now over N200 per litre and she didn’t organised any protest to that effect.

Instead, she has taken advantage of the prevailing poverty in the land to hire hungry women in the land to partake in an unproductive protest against Dino Melaye. Women like Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Hajiya Gambosa Sawaba, Sarah Jubril, fought for woman race without attacking any man. Oluremi Tinubu should emulate the likes of Margaret Thatcher, Indira Ghandhi, Benazir Bhutto and our own dear Dora Akunyili.

You can imagine what N75 million will do in the lives of widows and hungry Nigerian women. We dare Mrs. Tinubu to go ahead with her planned N75 million protest in Abuja. We will also mobilise Nigerian women against this ostentatious display of wealth while the average Nigerian women wallow in abject poverty.

Melaye said that the protesters have already “stormed Abuja and have booked for 300 rooms in many Hotels”.

Tinubu in her letter to the Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Idris said:

I am Senator Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. During the proceedings of the Senate on Tuesday, July 14, 2016, I had cause to contribute to a matter of national importance. Apparently dissatisfied with my contributions Senator Dino Melaye threw caution to the winds, resorted to vulgar abuse of my person and wanted to assault me.

It was the timely intervention of a number of colleagues which prevented Senator Melaye from unleashing a physical attack on me. However, as the leadership of the Senate did not call him to order in the circumstance, he proceeded to threaten my life without any provocation whatsoever.

In view of Sen. Melaye’s antecedent particularly in the House of Representatives where a brawl led by him led to the untimely death of a member, I have decided not to ignore his threat to my life. Therefore, I am compelled to urge you to use your good offices to provide me with adequate security.

I have no time for the likes of Remi Tinubu. So much ado about nothing. It would be interesting to see the Calibre of women who will protest on Wednesday. When Mrs. Agbahome was beaten to death, how many women protested? When the Redeemed preacher was hacked to death, how many women protested. Enough of this nonsense abeg.

When Dino was jumping fence and misbehaving during the last dispensation, the APC people egged him on. Now, he has become too hot to handle he is now a menace to society. In short, both of them should gerrat.

I am sure Bola Tinubu must be veeeery upset with Remi. According to Remi, Bola asked her not to return to the senate for a second term but “the people” (always the people) asked and begged her to. I do not know of what relevance Remi is to anybody except her husband and children. You were first Lady for 8 years and wife of the party leader your husband must have seen what you failed to see. Now, that the small small boys and men in the party are trying you with yanmayanma l hope you have learnt your lesson.

As for those saying Bola Tinubu will deal with Dino at a later date. Forget it. Nobody is promised tomorrow. Only God almighty know who will wake up tomorrow. Bola Tinubu is too ill and frail to be fighting nonsense fight. He has bigger problems on his hands at the National level. Buhari is not the puppet they expected so, that alone is enough problems for now not Remi’s afowofa. You call a fellow senator a dog and you expect him to clap for you? Remi has been described as a very arrogant woman so, herself and Dino fit each other.

@FasholasLover If someone calls you a dog, you call them a pig. Or you call them a fool. Or an idiot. Or “Olori Buruku.” Or something.
That you hate someone so much that you are willing to justify someone threatening them with violence speaks volumes about your character!
Would you teach your kids to threaten to “rape” and “beat” a woman just because she called them names? How about teaching them to have respect for themselves and not stooping to the level of their provoker?
Do better, please. Domestic violence and sexual abuse will never go away until people like you stop glorifying them

Another sheep. By now, you should know l do not care for the herds mentality.
Were you there when he said he was going to rape her? I really do not care if Dino beats Remi. Let’s not make this a men vs women or violence against the female gender issue. They can kill each other for all l care.
You lot that live through me on this blog should start paying me commission o.

Who will the fund the protest for the beheaded. Bridget Agbaheme and Eunice Olawale?

Who will speak out for them? The families are poor and so no one is interested!
Nigerians are hypocrites!!!!! Mrs Buhari called Ayodele Fayose mad and chained dog, he didn’t reply yet Nigeria hypocrites did not reprimand Aisha because it’s blasphemy to say she did wrong nor was Ayodele commended for not responding!

How people voted a Dino shocked me.
Shame on vain Remi and Dino!
Remi should channel her household political frustrations to Buhari not Dino, Saraki and Ekweremadu!

What manner of human beings are these ones, ehn? Is this what you were both elected for? This Dino of a man, what is his problem? I refrained from commenting on this matter but it looks like the man is bent on milking the situation. This is becoming a juvenile affair. Do we really need these senators, people who cannot control their own tempers and emotions, how are they even representing millions of Nigerians? Why is this country like this?

This is very sad as grown adults one should be able to control their emotions and temper. Throwing threats and tantrums willynilly because you have a mouth does not show character at all. I have read the long list of instances Dino has put forward and all I can deduce is that Remi is a bit condescending. So he is told he is a thug and decides to live up to the name, well-done am so impressed.
Please stop embarrassing the country, yourselves and your families.

FEMINISM and women rights have been hijacked by greedy selfish women to fulfill their own personal agenda and promotions, they use it when it is convenient for them while real women who need help are ignored

A woman was beheaded for allegedly blaspheming the name
Muhammed (S. A. W) some months back. No women protest.
Another Christian woman was butchered and killed like a
cow just because she was only exercising her right to
religion by preaching the word of God ( May his name be
praised forever) No women group protest to condemn the
    barbaric act.
Now, just because a Man merely threatened to beat and
impregnate a woman just because she is highly placed. A
group of various toothless women Screaming out the top
roof. Planning a big rally to protest a mere threat.
When are we people going to stop being hypothetical about
Is an harmless threat to Remi Tinubu more important than
lives of those women terminated without a course?

      July 19, 2016 at 11:21 am

Merely? All those cases and bad and yes itsunfortunat the common man does not get justice however there is nothing merely about a man threatening to beat or even worse a male colleague .In a sane society that he would be out of a job and facing charges . By the waydoes basket mouth Dino have a receipt to prove his allegations? Yeah I thought not? He said worse about his ex wives when they exposed his wife beating ways.

Whether or not 75 million Naira was doled out for protests, fact remains that some women protested in Lagos. There are pictures to prove this. I am not against their protests, I’m just amazed that female leaders in this country have kept mute on the deaths of Bridget and Eunice.
Odumakin, Onwenu, Remi Tinubu, Ita Giwa, Stella Oduah, Abike Dabiri, Aisha Buhari, I’m truly amazed that we have heard nothing. Or perhaps they have acted and I’m not aware, someone Please enlighten me. Isn’t the senseless killing of these two women enough to rile up female anger and spur a peaceful protest?

I’m kinda happy it happened to her. When we try to educate pampered Nigerian women of misogyny from Nigerian men and their preoccupation with the female genitalia, they throw an embarrassing fit and reiterate how the lady in question ‘did not carry herself well’ that if she did ‘Nigerian men will respect her’ lmao. The fact that it has not happened to you, does not mean it will/may not happen to you. The other day it was a female lawmaker that was slapped and called a prostitute. If this can happen to women with authority, you can imagine what the average Nigerian woman goes through. Maybe all of you will sit up for once and be your fellow sister’s keeper. Maybe this will teach Remi Tinubu a lesson and ensure she institutionalizes policies that protect the female gender.

So Dino is aware of ‘the hardship of Nigerian women and widows’, lmao I would like to know whether he voted for or against the gender equality bill. He asks good questions, because I’ve asked myself multiple times what Nigerian female senators do at the house. Nevertheless, this does not acquit Dino of his savage tendencies. He must be penalized. The protesters should not be deterred either by his remarks. A day of reckoning is coming for conscious Nigerian women, and I don’t mind if it starts with this.
