Youth Corper may be Heading to Jail for Having an Affair with a Married Woman

A recent graduate completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service, Bonaventure was arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Monday for allegedly committing adultery.

The Eagle Online reports that the husband of his alleged lover made a direct criminal complaint to the court against the defendant on March 24.

The accused who resides in Abuja was arraigned on a one-count charge of committing adultery with Mrs. Anozie.

The plaintiff, Mr Anozie of Kaduna State made his complaint through his counsel, Obioma Achilefu.

The offence contravened Section 387 of the Penal Code Cap 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963.

The plaintiff said the defendant, knowing that he is legally married to Mrs Anozie, committed adultery with her on December 18, 2014.

He said he called the defendant on the phone and the defendant confessed that he had sex with Mr Anozie’s wife once.

According to Mr Anozie,he “warned the defendant to stay away from his wife, but his warnings fell on deaf’s ears.”
He explained that the defendant on August 18 2015 sent transport money to his lover (Mrs Anozie), who was enrolled in a tertiary institution in Anambra State, to visit him at his residence and she did. She stayed with Bonaventure in his house from the said date till August 28.
He said the defendant repeatedly committed adultery with Mrs Anozie despite his warnings. He explained that the act wounded his “heart beyond measure”.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, admitted Bonaventure to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till August 30 for hearing.
