Keeping up with Tiwa Savage! Here’s what the Mavin x Roc Nation star wore to the 2016 #MTVVMAs

Tiwa Savage has had an eventful couple of days and we are having so much fun keeping up with her.

The Mavin Records/Roc Nation star attended the MTV VMAs last night and she attended with DJ Khaled!

For the award show she was styled by Remi Fagbohun in a neon green Liz dress from Muehleder‘s FW16 collection. She accessorized with a Charlotte Olympia clutch and a pair of white Valentino strap heels.

All shades of wrong wrong wrong. Tiwa u had one chance to slay at the VMAs and you pick this…
    1. It doesn’t flatter your figure….
    2. the colour is not complimentary to your skin tone
3….absolutely wrong and the cut of the dress…..dreadful.
Be careful with presentation… one wants to be that girl who was formally signed to Roc Nation. Ask D banj. Getting to the top is hard but staying there is the hardest. Now go in peace and pay attention to detail and presentation.

She will blend in like another African-American. Even one of Lisa’s disjointed/mix and match pieces in African print would have nailed it.

The right undergaments would have improved her overall look

All shades of wrong. Her protruding stomach and makeup did not do her any justice.
Why apply so much makeup to her already beautiful face.

But wait o, I have a question. If your stylist picks an outfit you don’t like, don’t you have a right to refuse it?

  20. Bella

    August 29, 2016 at 2:31 pm

Kai, you’ll goin in on Tiwa, but reality check biko, The dress is hot on the model. Learn to dress for your body type, and if not, this is 2016 na, proper undergarments to accentuate and flatter the body, if you ain’t got it, are key o. So Tiwa, nice dress but you should have exercised the waka and pass approach. No be by force to wear am! Not all designs are great on this our African booty body! You dey fail my hand o!

A Naija print would have been so much better. This doesn’t make you stand out at all

Tiwa I like you alot but this is a big big miss. look like you are going for a chat or some casual palce. your stylist needs to be replaced asap

  24. Best Wishes.

I’d been avoiding making thus comment for a long time but really, for the industry she’s in and for the global appeal and stardom she craves, Tiwa needs to not necessarily lose weight but definitely to get a whole lot more toned in her physique, especially her abdomen/tummy and thighs. Her body needs to be more toned, more sculpted and firmer.

As for the dress, even on the model, it’s ordinary. It’s not outstanding in style, cut or finishing.

Tiwa, please get into the gym and start preparing your outfits for your events looooong beforehand, months if possible, the instant you are confirmed for an event, take your entire look seriously and start planning it and trying different things. Your industry is all, or mostly, about superficialities, how you look, no one really cares about your inner beauty.

Frankly, you do not yet have, or, let’s say, your voice, and song-writing skills are not yet developed and strong enough to allow you to inhabit that niche of some other singers who fly on the strength of their voices and/or song-writing skills alone and don’t rely that much on their look, on being sexually objectified and super-glamorous e.g. Anita Baker, Asa, Tracy Chapman, Sia, so, you just have to work what you’ve got to the max, and that is the field you have chosen to play in so you just have to play the game.

And it is a game, Just a game. Never forget that. Don’t let it define you. Play it. Don’t ever let it play you.

    Wishing you all the best.

    • What! What!

      August 29, 2016 at 8:42 pm

Yes her outfit is all kinds of wrong for the international stage and the VMA’s for that matter. Any Nigerian tailor would have done a much better job. I mean our tailors are the baddest right now. Tiwa acts like she doesn’t see how Naija babes dress to weddings. Haven’t you seen the fashion slayage at Naija weddings Tiwa? Any one of those dresses in a brilliant fabric would have been better than this H&M meets TopShop number you are wearing. But why, why, why? I am so disappointed. Please step up image game. Your hair, your make up…boring! You’ve started surrounding yourself with these funny people called friends and society. Remi who? Azuka who? Drop these people that don’t add value to your value please, I mean just stop it.

@Best wishes. She is a damn good songwriter and artist. No argument there. So I totally disagree with you. She can carry a tune which is more than Rihanna, Cassie and a whole load of autotune artists out there running the world can do. Her voice is strong enough and her song writing skills are badass. Please let me know apart from Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys and the two lines that Beyonce tends to throw in for song writing credits how many artists can write a hit song. Tiwa is super talented in that department and she can perform. So take several seats with those comments I beg.

Madam stylist has gone and overdone it this time. Her stylist is a good fashionista but I am afraid she was too much in her own head with this one. Clearly played herself and Tiwa just couldn’t refuse the almighty stylist now could she. Who is the client and who is the service provider here? Sad state of affairs…

All shades of WRONG! WRONG!! WRONG!!!. Tiwa, it’s an award show not an album listening party.
