“No retreat, no surrender” – Abubakar Sidiq says after his release from EFCC Custody
The Economic and financial Crimes Commission has finally released popular political blogger, Abubakar Sidiq Usman.
Usman was arrested on Monday morning at his residence in Abuja by officials of the EFCC. A statement by the EFCC on its Facebook Page said that Sidiq was arrested for “offences bordering on cyber stalking”.
The statement added that Sidiq was “being questioned over the alleged offence which contravenes sections of the CyberCrime Act”.
However, reports say that his arrest was in connection to a story he published on his website which the EFCC deemed critical of its chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
The release was confirmed by one of Sidiq’s friends in a series of tweets.
Today has taught me a great lesson.

The stringent bail conditions set for @MrAbuSidiq‘s release was lessened. One of us was able to come and sign as surety for his release

Thanks so much to everyone that spoke out against the impunity and abuse of office showed by Mr Magu of @officialefcc.
