Tried to get into MJ but not feeling it at or her character at all. She has more issues than a newspaper, don’t know if she was trying to portray a positive image of a single, aa female but she fails miserably. I find her whinny and very petty. Maybe I’m too european to relate to her colour/racer issues. I think that’s a good thing imo.
Switched off one episode when they were arguing about being black and successful in Africa vs America.

They try too hard with their sociopolitical slant ! People just want to watch a show and enjoy it. They need to cool down on the black consciousness thing.

I think the show has done a good job of bringing drama and sociopolitical issues to the table. It can’t be drama and fun everytime. Besides, there are many fluff shows for people like you. Why don’t you stick to those?

The issue here is that Becca and Bimbo would rather T.V. Portray sitcoms like sex in the city. How be it that when an black woman has a starring role such as being Mary Jane she’s trying too hard or fails to portray what being single is in our culture. Being MJ doesn’t or wasn’t intended to speak to every single woman’s situation. Moreover shed light on the many complexities we still face as women in the workplace, socially, and where it matters most family. This series shed much needed light. So no one is asking you to be a Single black female. You don’t have enough melanin for that. This series takes you into the mind and life of one successful black woman.

Very good show, definitely in my top 5. I just don’t like the adverts for the upcoming season and why she got to take her clothes off on the rooftop. Why are sisters always sexualized? She’s successful, smart, educated and rich, why do she gotta still take her clothes off? For more publicity, ratings or popularity? BET should know better

I love this show. Excellent performance by Ms. Union and the entire, stellar cast. What I most love about the show, is its depiction of real life. In a lot of families, there is that one member who makes it, and is usually the one who carries the weight and has a lot of balls to juggle and keep afloat. The other thing I love about the show is, life happens. Some times as people of color, things happen in our lives that does mirror what is going on in society, the world. It is nice to see those facts acknowledged. Can’t wait for the season premiere!
