“Mr. President is not ill, he is not in hospital” – Lai Mohammed

Lai Mohammed

Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday said that, President Muhammadu Buhari, had become a victim of his own transparency in relation to his current vacation abroad.

The Minister said this while addressing State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the eagerness of Nigerians to know Buhari’s health status.

According to him, the President is hale and hearty and absolutely in no danger.

“I can say it without any equivocation, Mr President is well, he is hale and he is hearty; no question about that. I want to assure you, Mr President is well and he is in absolutely no danger.

Mr. President, like I said elsewhere, is probably a victim of his own transparency.

He was going on leave, he did what the constitution said he should do, transmitted it to the National Assembly and Acting President was put in place.

And he said ‘while I am on leave, I am going to conduct some medical tests’ which many, or all of us do without announcing it,’’ Mohammed said.

Mohammed said it was surprising that in less than six hours after Buhari got to London, he was pronounced dead by some people.

He noted with regret that even those who saw the President climb the Aircraft in Abuja claimed that he was flown by an Ambulance.

The Minister recalled that the Acting President had spoken with Buhari on a daily basis and had re assured Nigerians about his talking with Buhari.

“I can assure you that the President is well he is hale and hearty and there is absolutely no cause for concern,’’ Mohammed declared.

Reacting to insinuations that the Ministry of Information ought to be releasing hourly bulletins on the President’s health condition, Mohammed said there was no need for that.

“Mr. President is not ill, he is not in hospital and there is no reason to give anybody any bulletin about his health, pure and simple,’’ he said.

The minister noted that all organs of government were working with the Ministers carrying out their normal duties across the country noting that there was no cause for alarm.

A twitter user @derianoforbes just twittered this below:

“1. My cousin working in a hospital in London says @MBuhari is in coma in private ward. He went through a surgery and it was unsuccessful.

That his doctors had adviced him earlier to resign and attend to his health. Apparently the first surgery was also unsuccessful.

Buhari is not in his residence at the Nigeria High Commission. He is incapacitated. He never wrote and sent that letter to the senate himself.”

      … the tweet concludes.

People on twitter are telling him to go anonymous so that the DSS will not go after him and his so called cousin not to Lose his job since this information is HIGHLY sensitive. His twitter account has been suspended today even as we speak. The tweets are no longer showing but you can see people commenting on the news. Some blogs had already carried it. We are waiting…

Well guess what Lie Mohammed – your explanation is even worse. He is hale & hearty and has chosen to abscond from duty when people in Nigeria are hungry and protesting on the streets? You are trying to tell us that Buhari is well but chooses to feed fat at the expense of Nigerians in London when most cannot afford to eat?????? Nigerians are truly mumus………God help us

Maybe for once you are not Lie but Lai M… But what does your story tell us of the president if you are telling the truth?
That he is arrogant and insensitive if despite all the drama around, he is ok and does not deem it fit to help make the work of aides like you easier (lets not talk of assuaging the concerns of the teeming Nigerian populace and concerned likely investors) by showing his face to his country people, even those who chased him to the UK.

Wait, do working people in Naija even get vacations? This concept can’t be that strange. When is this guy due to come back?

    February 9, 2017 at 2:51 pm

Honorable Minister of Information. Mr. Lie, Lie Mohammed. You know what your problem is? You are a lie, your name is a lie. Everything about you is a lie. If President Mohamodu Buhari is not I’ll. Then why are doctors in Great Britain running medical tests upon medical tear to determine what is wrong with him. We Nigerians urged him to come back home. Or should we assume he has abandoned his office. Mr. Lie Mohammed you are a very bad spindarella for this government. Mr. Chukwumerije was better than you as a spindarella. Just my opinion.

I wonder how these Nigerian government officials sleep at night
It is public knowledge (maybe not) that Mr President has cancer, and has had it for almost 5 years. His hospital in London (in Hampstead, connect the dots) has all the details. Those Nigerian high commission people too aren’t helping matters.
How can they in all god conscience knowingly deceive the nation they were elected to serve??
I am tired of the crap in this country. Na wah
