I didn’t change to Islam because of any Man – Liz Anjorin

I didn't change to Islam because of any Man - Liz Anjorin

Liz Anjorin

Nollywood actress Liz Anjorin has addressed rumours making the rounds that she converted to Islam because of a man.

Speaking to PUNCH’s Sunday Scoop, Anjorin said:

“If I changed to Islam because of a man, why am I still single? People just like to say all sorts, but I’m not bothered anyway. This is my second time of going to Mecca after my conversion; I went first in 2013. My name remains Liz Anjorin, but I adopted the Muslim name, Aishat, and that’s all. My father was a Christian, while my mother was a Muslim. I only decided to follow my mother’s path.

I’m a private person and people don’t know much about me. If you check my Instagram page, you would see that my mode of dressing has changed. But as a celebrity and entertainer, I can wear anything to showcase my talent, which is work-related. I don’t need to write it on my forehead that I’m a Muslim.

I think Islam is the most accepted religion for Yoruba nollywood. They feel they gain more acceptance when they are Muslims.

Or maybe its just peer pressure. I don’t buy the “I changed to mummy’s religion” story

The article is not comprehensive enough. OK, she hasn’t converted for a man. Agreed. But what influenced her most to change to her mother’s faith ? We are interested to know.

Changing her religion to Islam was based on self conviction and seeing the truths as it is. Taking to her mother’s side is not because of the mother perse but just a coincidence and nothing more than that.
