Black Model addresses Diversity Issues after being dropped from Fashion Show
Just when we thought there was a higher level of diversity and inclusion of blacks in the fashion industry, Top British model Leomie Anderson gets ushered out of a fashion show because the designer didn’t feel like using more than one black girl.
Leomie who has been a model for seven years and is well known as one of the Victoria Secret Angels on Saturday shared her ordeal on Twitter, explaining the unsubstantial reason the designer dropped her from the show.
“He can’t find anything for you, you can go” along with a tanned Brazilian model. Once he selected a mixed girl with curly hair the quota

In a couple of tweets she later deleted, Leoime said she had been confirmed for the show and when she showed up watched six other white models get their fittings done before she was told to leave.
On the BBC Woman’s Hour today, she discussed diversity in fashion highlighting that the issue has gone on for too long.
She said on the radio show with Jane Harvey:
At this point in my career, I feel like me being silent is me not standing up for other young girls who are coming up in the industry. I remember when I was younger and I wasn’t saying anything, I’d be going down the runway with my face looking grey, I’d be crying backstage because nobody wanted to do my hair or someone said a comment that was really offensive to me and I didn’t say anything.
I feel like there have been a lot of situations where black models have been made to feel like second class citizens during Fashion Week or during their jobs. The only what that we are going to move forward within the fashion industry is by having new people, new blood, new ideas and a fresh perspective. A lot of the mistreatment that we go through is because fashion is a very old industry.

Abeg enuff of akatas complaining about white-owned stuff!!! Victoria Secrets caters to white beauty first or beauty with European standards.
Indians have their fashions shows and movie industry (ZEE WORLD, Bollywood) and they doing just fine!!!
Same for Naija entertainment , whether it is music or Nollywood. We decided to celebrate our own and see how we’re now a force to reckon with, out there!!!
Even the Latinos are gradually taking over with their telenovelas or telemundos, or what do call those series again?
All these akatas, American or British, CREATE YOUR OWN “SECRETS” and stop whining.
They can’t do your hair? DIY or get another fellow Victoria black model to help you; Oh i forgot, you are busy cat- fighting each other as to which black model will strut the runway.
IF UNA LIKE, KEEP SITTING THERE CRYING BACKSTAGE OR ON BBC INSTEAD OF TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR DESTINIES!!!

The truth is racism will always be here! You have to make up your mind that nothing nobody says discourages you or reduces your esteem. KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
