Meet Sope Aluko, the Nigerian in “Black Panther” + her Stunning Deola Sagoe Outfit to the World Premiere

Sope Aluko is the Hollywood actress that you need to know.

After landing a coveted role in highly anticipated movie “Black Panther“, the Nigerian/British/American actress popped up on our radar.
Sope Aluko was born in Nigeria but primarily raised in the UK. She has dual-citizenship in both the US and the UK, and speaks four different languages, including her native language, Yoruba.

In the past couple of years, Sope has had roles on Netflix’s “Bloodline”, NBC’s “Law & Order SVU” and “Parks & Recreation”, and guest appearances on USA Network’s “Burn Notice”, “Graceland” and Lifetime’s “Army Wives”. Her film credits include supporting roles in feature films like “Identity Thief”, “Pitch Perfect 2”, “96 Minutes”, “Grass Stains”, “The Good Lie” and more.

Sope is a mother to two teenage boys, and currently splits her time between Miami and Los Angeles.

Last night Sope looked gorgeous as she attended the world premiere of “Black Panther”.

She stayed true to her roots as she rocked a green laser cut outfit from leading fashion brand Deola Sagoe. She accessorized with a bracelet by HStern, earring from Neil Lane, a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes and a Tyler Ellis clutch.

She also posed with other stars of the movie.

Nice. But how can all these Nigerian actors in diaspora bring their influence in Hollywood to bare positively on Nigerian film industry ? Anyway, bravo for using a Nigerian designer at that big platform.

No they can’t actually. And I depise when you guys say things like this. People in Nigeria are complaining BITTERLY about the state of the nation yet you guys never fail to shame people who found their way out. Do you know how much talent there is already in Nigeria ? What has become of them??Pls everybody do what you can to save yourself or survive in the black hole we call a country. And if you’ve managed to escape you better stay where you are. Just look at Atiku thinking he can become the next president. I don’t know who cursed this country but it shall never be well with them and their generations unborn, including Lord Lugard and his entire ancestry. (This wasn’t an attack on you btw, just tired of hearing come back come back when there’s literally nothing to come to)

Have you seen the movie “GET OUT”? That’s a typical description of the situation in Nigeria. Our country kills dreams, except you literally “GET OUT”.

Question makes no sense. What influence do Nigerians in Hollywood have? This woman is almost fifty, do you know how long it must have taken her to crawl her way to get a non major role in a major almost all black cast movie. The seasoned ones have not even been given due recognition. The question should have been why can’t they come back home to collaborate with the home based actors here. Other than the Star Wars guy uk based Naija guy and Uzo from OITNB, which other nigeria is making it in the movies in America? Hollywood is snobbish, they want young fresh and marketable with natural talent. The dress is a PR disaster for Deola. This should have been an opportunity to showcase her design. The dress was not ironed and the woman wearing it should have been on higher heels. Looks like sura the tailor made it and even the whole look was a wash.

Nope! She was raised for years in Naija along with her sisters. Her parents live in Nigeria (well, before her pop passed away) …she identifies as Nigerian, married a Nigerian, travels to Lagos often, so dont get it twisted or pop a blood vessel. She is Nigerian!

no body needs my opinion oh.but the theme was african royalty.the komole iro and buba would have been a smash hit.

    • Lilo

      January 31, 2018 at 2:51 pm

Komole is overrated, overpriced and underwhelming. Take Deola Sagoe out of that whole get up – you think anyone will wear that crap?

I actually don’t think the dress is bad. Very simple and pretty. What I don’t get is why she has a lanyard on her neck like a press pass or like she was sa granted some acccess to the premiere sa. The woman was in the movie for Pete sake.

I think that is what separates the real stars from the wanna be. Another error, there were four or five other Nigerians in that film and they too should be given a shout out, Please check the full cast. My cousin was in the movie too. I think someone was trying to absorb all the glory for a movie that has a good mix of Africans and African Americans. I hate it when people do that.
