MURIC wants Falz to remove “This is Nigeria” video or face Legal Action

Muslim Group wants Falz to remove "This is Nigeria" video or face Legal Action | BellaNaijaThe Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked that Falz remove his video for “This is Nigeria” within 7 days or face legal action.

According to The Cable, the request was made in a statement made by the group’s director, Ishaq Akintola.

The video, upon its release, had Nigerians in a frenzy, with some describing it as genius and others saying it was badly done.

The group has described the video as a “hate video,” complaining that it was biased against the Fulani people and trivializes the plight of the Chibok Girls.

MURIC also asked that Falz make a public apology.

The statement read:

MURIC rejects Falz’ explanation that the girls in hijab in his ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance symbolize the Chibok girls because nothing in the video indicates that the girls represent the Chibok girls.

At least none of the Chibok girls have been seen dancing like a drunkard. They are always in pensive mood. Do they have any cause to be dancing? Are they happy?

The video manifests ethnic bias against Fulanis while it ignored the criminal activities of ethnic militia of the Middle Belt who have also massacred Fulanis and rustled their cattle in their thousands.

It is a hate video. This video has the potential of causing religious crisis of unprecedented dimension.

It is an assault on the self-dignity of every Muslim. It is freedom of expression gone haywire.

We therefore demand its withdrawal and an apology to Nigerian Muslims within seven days or the authors and their agents will face legal action if they fail to comply.

Only the scenes portraying police brutality and the money-swallowing snake in the video are near the truth.

We call the attention of security agencies to this hate action.

We remind Nigerians of the outcome of similar provocative actions in the past and their unpalatable outcomes.

The National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB), a regulatory agency set up by Act No. 85 of 1993 to regulate films and the video industry has a case to answer. ‘Shaku Shaku’ video was shot and released under its watch.

Instead of going violent, Nigerian Muslims should take those behind the ‘Shaku Shaku’ video to court in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

We therefore give notice of impending legal action against the artist behind the ‘Shaku Shaku’ video unless the latter is withdrawn and an apology is widely published within seven days.

It’s how people have CHOSEN to use religion. People hide their evil hearts under religion. Falz has freedom of speech and he spoke on all issues happening in Nigeria, he didn’t offend religion or anything. Just brought awareness of the everyday evil happening in Nigeria from all angles and corners.
Muric is a COWARD, and fool why don’t they take legal action against atrocity, and crime committed in Nigeria everyday. If he cares so much about chibok girls, he should take legal action against how some of the girls are raped, protest for their release and put pressure on the government to do better.
If the girls dancing shaky shaky is his biggest problem facing Nigeria then he should go to hell.
It might have looked like falz triviliazed the situation of the girls but to me scene representated the freedom taken away from the girls. They could have been somewhere living their life, dancing and having fun instead been kept in a dirty, dark room raped and tortured.

It’s disturbing ihow Christianity is bashed, made fun of everyday but something is said about Islam, it’s hell. Meanwhile they are causing chaos everywhere. Aren’t the same fulani murdering people across Nigeria yet they claim it’s offensive to speak of their wrong. I’ve never seen such warped, divisive, sick group of people

Hmmmm Muslims are radical. Let no one come here preaching “Do not generalise”. Anywhere this religion is practised there is hostility. To call that video offensive is an offense. MURIC should be sued. Utter trash.

The stupid clown who parades himself as a professor is busy denigrating the middle men while men, children and women are murdered by the Fulanis daily. The idiot thinks his foolery will count him in the good books of the Fulanis. He knows nothing. Wawa.

Kasala don enta market! When will we learn that “the garb does not make the nun”? What is hijab? it is a piece of clothing for covering I guess? yet suicide bombers use it as a cover to do their nefarious act, I am just sick and tired of this religion of piss apologies… peace! I make bold to say again a certain race may go into extinction after this administration or may ultimately lead to the fragmentation of the country unless certain drastic actions are taken, They are now trying to gain control of the waterways. for easy access of herds. Falz, I say again a million thanks to you for taking the bull by the horns.

If the North was not so backward with their beliefs, economic developments, etc… they would have developed their people out of the present deepest poverty levels, those comments are again based on fundamental backwardness of their mentalities which is confirmed by the MURIC statements, kudos to Falz we need those type of authors we are actually showing us the state of our nation using the entertainment space as a great vehicle for communication!

Falz is most def his fathers son. You did a Lot of Good with that video and I loved it. If you don’t like the video, kindly ban it in your schools, prayer houses and homes. We like the video and the video will go down in history as one that spoke the mind of most in a so called democratic regime. plus, I think he was highlighting the issues with the kidnapped school girls but as usual art gets misplaced when religion comes in.

Muric is taking things too far the video is artistic and creative. We need to free ourselves from the mental slavery, confusion and war that religion has caused in the past and is still causing.

Bella naija, how are you guys better than this radical group who hate to hear the truth and want to silence others. You censoring people’s opinion is uncalled for. If you are not ready for the truth don’t post it . Post every opinions, that’s what life is about.

Unless Nigeria is divided along major religious lines, the conflict will remain and there will not be peace.
Take religion out if our political space, make it personal, restructure the country along religious lines or better still, divide it and let’s have some PEACE!

    • Physio Tinu

      June 6, 2018 at 4:52 am

Nnenne. I would like to hear your thoughts about how we should be divided across religious lines. Let’s use eti-osa LG in Lagos state for example…
      Ignorance is appalling

    • Seriously

      June 6, 2018 at 1:39 pm

People speak from their a– sometimes. How do one divide along major religious lines? There’s no division that didn’t lead to war and killings. Nigeria will be in complete ruin. There are a lot of Christians in the north then Muslims I in the west and south. How does one begin to do such disastrous move?

Religion is not the problem, it’s how people choose to practice it. There are several religious countries in the world who are efficient and productive. So, it’s an individual problem. Division is NEVER solution especially in Africa only because there will be numerous divided groups from that. And the deep-rooted problem still won’t be solved.

Africans need to come up with efficient practical solutions, not divisive solutions that will eventually lead to more problems

White garment churches are the most tolerant sect in this country, I believe.
These people have been used in comedy, films, musical videos and the rest, in a negative way o and you won’t hear them threaten anybody…..small Hijab,Muric is choking.

This is a ‘No case’ , MURIC!
A zillion congratulations to Falz for a fantastic work of art. He aptly captured the battered soul of the nation. Exploitation from all quarters!
MURIC, If you can’t live in peace with other people and religions, take a walk to the desert.
‘Lawyer no dey fear courtroom.’ Try, if you can take on Falana (SAN) and son.
