This story about Workers selling their Boss’ generator to Pay themselves is sad and hilarious

Unfortunately, too many Nigerians can relate to this story.

Twitter user @Deji_Blissfield had shared a tweet criticising bosses who do not pay salaries on time but somehow manage to live wealthy lifestyles. He wrote:

You haven’t paid your workers’ salaries for 6 months!!! You send the same workers to the bank to deposit your kids’ school fees in millions. You fly your family out on vacation to Dubai. But you’re quick to call our leaders wicked, SHUT UP YOU FOOL!!!! Thunder go fire you!!!

Sharing his experience, another Twitter user, @norquer, wrote about how workers from his old place of employment had sold their boss’ generator while he was on a trip out of the country to pay salaries he owed.

My formal boss was owing his staffs 4months salary, he travelled to the UK then to Dubai. His workers sold his Mikano generator and paid themselves before he came back from his trip.

It’s so sad, yet so funny.

@‘You get the gist abi’? Yes, the typical Naija “manage am” mentality.

@Sakura, doubtful it’s a typo. Is “staffs” a typo too. @boss’ response (which got a lot of likes) merely typifies the typical classic Naija “manage am” attitude, because the sad reality is that getting things right (not to mention excellence) is often deemed a luxury by many Nigerians.

      True talk @BossToo.
I’d like to think it’s a typo and I do agree with you that the default mentality of the majority is that hard work and a job well done is for fools, the smarter you are the less work you do. No work and plenty money means you are blessed.

I paraphrased your sentiment, forgive me if I’ve taken it out of context.

I just love smart employees. Tit for tat. The madness has to stop.

The sad thing is the employees would be arrested and thrown into prison by their boss
