“I’m a Beautiful, Elegant & Smart Girl”: How 9-Year Old With Albinism Stood Up to a Bully
The Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, and the Open Society Initiative for Souther Africa held an event today in SA, to mark the International Albinism Awareness Day 2019.
The programme had individuals share their stories, as well as photographs showing the realities of people living with disabilities in South Africa.
One of the powerful stories was that of Hannah, a 9-year old girl with albinism, who opened up about being bullied, and how she stood up to the bully to let him know that she’s beautiful, elegant, smart, and a great person.
Watch:
Hannah is a 9-year old girl with albinism and she just beautifully articulated why she is the same just like the rest of us. A new generation of activists rises! #AlbinismDay #JustLikeYou Cc @CHR_HumanRights @AmnestySARO @osisa pic.twitter.com/BxHcC4LuoT
