#BellaNaijaMCM this Week is Anthony Owei of Tonyve Farms & ePoultry Nigeria
#BellaNaijaMCM this week Anthony Owei is an entrepreneur and agribusiness advisor who’s contributing to the development of the agriculture sector in Nigeria.
After the 2011/2012 East African drought, Anthony decided to act, to ensure it doesn’t happen again, beginning with his home country – Nigeria.
In 2014, he set up Tonyve Farms, a “company committed to enhancing food security, wealth creation and employment generation in Africa through the production of hygienic and quality farm produce.”
Headquartered in Yenagoa, the capital of Nigeria’s Bayelsa State, Tonyve farms is in its first phase of business, primarily focusing on animal production, specifically poultry and goat farming.
Tonyve Farms produces chicken eggs, chicken meat, chicken manure (for crop farmers) and goat meat and also offers agro-based entrepreneurial development trainings.
Anthony’s latest venture is ePoultry.NG, “an online platform leveraging on technology to provide funding, technical skills and access to market for smallholder poultry farmers.”
The platform also gives middle income earners access to grow their income via remotely investing in poultry farming without directly operating the farm.
Anthony is a 2019 Obama Foundation Leader and a fellow of the Dutch Government’s Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) for a fully funded MBA in Food Security at Business School Netherlands. He is also a certified Poultry Service Provider by the Foundation for Partnerships in the Niger Delta (PIND Foundation) and Zoetis A.L.P.H.A.
Anthony is contributing his quota to food security and ensuring prosperity for Nigerians, and we’re celebrating him today.
