Akinola Davies Jr’s “Lizard”, Bukky Bakray, Wunmi Mosaku have been Nominated for the 2021 BAFTAs

The British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTAS) has released its 2021 list of nominees and Akinola Davies Jr‘s short film “Lizard“, which recently made history as the first Nigerian production to win a short film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, has been nominated in the Best British Short Film category.

Other nominees for the 74th awards include “Rocks” for Best Casting and also for the Outstanding British Film alongside “His House“. Also nominated in the category are “Calm With Horses“, “The Dig“, “The Father“, “Limbo“, “The Mauritanian“, “Mogul Mowgli“, “Promising Young Woman” and “Saint Maud“.

Bukky Bakray was also nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in “Rock” alongside Wunmi Mosaku for “His House”, Radha Blank, (The Forty-Year-Old Version), Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman), Frances McDormand (Nomadland), and Alfre Woodard, (Clemency).

Also nominated in the Outstanding Debut by a British writer, director or producer category are Remi Weekes for “His House” and Theresa Ikoko and Claire Wilson who are also nominated in the Best original screenplay for “Rocks”.

Bukky Bakray and Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù have also been nominated for the EE Rising Star award which will be voted for by the public.
