Omowunmi Akinnifesi and Ohimai Atafo have emerged as the “Allure Style Icons” for 2011. Allure Magazine is the weekly insert magazine of Vanguard Newspaper. Allure is an offshoot of the Allure Beauty & Style column which is the longest running Beauty & Style column in Nigeria. The magazine is headed by Editor in Chief, Remmy Diagbare.
The Allure Style Icons Search began in 2008. For the 2011 competition, a shortlist of 20 celebrities were listed and fans were asked to vote for their favourites. The winners were chosen by votes and a panel of 4 celebrity judges. Entrepreneur, Omowunmi Akinnifesi won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant in 2005 is renowned for her red carpet style while designer Ohimai Atafo has gained a strong fanbase for his daring reinvention of menswear in Nigeria. For several years, Omowunmi was the unofficial “face” and muse of the MAI womenswear brand. The winners will be presented with their awards during a two ceremonies currently scheduled for March 2011.

i love them both. too much pressure on the young girl tho…i mean what else does she do beside appearing at events looking pretty? the pressure to maintain a certain status can have long term effects. She is just a pleasant lady who looks good but i don’t think she goes out of her way to seek these recognitions, which can be rather distracting. media, pls leave the girl alone and let her be.

Seriously she is the best of the best – NO ONE AND I REPEAT NO ONE BEATS THIS LADY when it comes to style and grace – Everything about her screams LADY, GRACEFUL, CLASSY – Good luck to whomever ends up wifing her. She is so classy – its unbelievable. The classiness ooozes out her pores – Very Jackie O ish. I wish all the razz dressers like Mercy Johnson will use her as an example. Bella am curious – do you know if she has a stylist or she styles her self. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST BORN WITH IT I GUESS,.

And i dont want to look like am picking on just nollywood Mercy alone with the NOllywood razz dressers top 10,so let me name the rest; TONTOH DIKEH, UCHE JUMBO, RUKKY SANDA, ADAORA UKOH,OGE OKOYE, SHAN GEORGE, HALIMA ABUBAKAR, UCHE ELENDU,UCHE IWUJI,INI EDO (1 yr ago), EUCHARIA, basically everybody in nollywood – except GENEVIEVE, RITA, STELLA AND KATE (As Omotola – i plead the 5th on that one- she is neither here or there)

Would never consider ohimai atafo in a million years, not with his orange pants, red belt and purple shoes combo.whats with the flamboyance anyway?this guy and mofe atake have the same dress sense.lets just say he has lots and lot of clothes, but definitely not style nor is he the best dressed male in nigeria.

Omowunmi is a stylist dresser granted, BUT I would not call her a style icon as there seems to be something missing that I can’t quite put my finger on; it may be because she is very young and although I am young, I tend to go more for classic and bias cuts- I look more at women like Jordan’s Queen Rania or Halle Berry. Closer to home, I like Grace Egbabe and Nike Oshinowo

Some ppl don’t understand what a style icon is. Ohimai has brought on his own style, he’s starting a trend and if you don’t like his colored pants and shoes pls dye yours black alwys. As for Omowunmi, she’s graceful. Vanguard’s Allure picked them this year, it could be ur favorite next year and pls vote and not yap! The person that listed the nollywood razz dressers should be applauded, on point there, lol.
Omowumi is a pretty but stiff girl, Atafo is okay cos he has carved a niche for himself. That is what style icon is all about.

What most of you dont know is that the ‘rainbow’ guy Ohimai designs MOST of Omowunmi’s outfits! E.g. the black and gold dress in that picture above!

Omo’s just some black barbie, think she shud not let these blogs get into her head cos all i see her do is party n be seen. there’s too much to do in life for such a young girl…Nike Osinowo is a better choice anyday
