Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi christened her new collection – “The Modern Age“, the runway presentation took place on Saturday 12th March 2011 at the 2011 ARISE Magazine Fashion Week.

The collection began with monochrome pieces with dazzling standouts such as a sequined jacket which was paired with a 50s inspired prom dress. The collection transitioned to introduce even more shimmer and pieces which featured innovative fabric pairings – embellished brocade, a melange of lace and handpainted silk. Our favourite looks from the collection were the final two which were modelled by Millen and Agbani. Floor-length dresses in handpainted silk ‘goodness’ juxtaposed with sequins and lace respectively.

As one guest proclaimed after the show, “LDA has transitioned to the next level”. We agree.

Yeah…LDA officially shut the flipping fashion week down with this collection! Outstanding!

      • Ginika March 22, 2011 at 8:44 AM

Ginika has just liked your statement. You took the words out of my mouth. She has evolded and all I kept saying was, LDA is a lady and it shos in her designs.g

        • Ginika March 23, 2011 at 12:19 PM

          *Forgive the typographical errors

    • chichi March 16, 2011 at 8:49 PM

Wow, love her designs. Finishing superb, tailoring on point, beautiful and unique, stunning collection!! Up and comers should all take note.

    • Ready March 16, 2011 at 9:07 PM

Many of the clothes are pretty, but many look quite dowdy. I feel like her demographic is a much older group of women.

      • Q-Styl March 17, 2011 at 8:22 AM

Thank You!!! I got a bit bored with some of her designs. They are fantastic, but I agree that the target group might be for the older gens.

    • ladybird March 16, 2011 at 9:10 PM

I beg to differ. The fabric seem too heavy and old ladylike, except for the short and troussers

      • Ib March 17, 2011 at 12:27 AM

well thats why you see 1st ladies and professional women rocking her designs…if u see the price tag ,u wouldnt even be saying anything…her style is classy and elegant.

    • Anya March 16, 2011 at 9:18 PM

This woman is talented. I take back every “hateful” thought or remark I made in the past!

    • Lady Jaye March 16, 2011 at 9:37 PM

this time around, LDA didn’t do it for me.

      • El Bee March 16, 2011 at 10:31 PM

I know right, not really feeling them. Apart from few,the rest just look odd to me–boring colors and it seems the styles are for older folks.

    • Gbagaun! March 16, 2011 at 9:42 PM

Love LDA, her designs are different but there’s sth just so feminine and delicate about them. Love the collection, beautiful/alexander mcqueenish. So pretty!

    • Blush Nigeria March 16, 2011 at 9:54 PM

Love both dresses Chika wore. Fantastic LDA, you stepped up your game.

    • Sarah Brown March 16, 2011 at 9:54 PM

      • Ib March 17, 2011 at 12:33 AM

OMG!!u know i was just saying to myself that agabani looked really good in in both outfits…so they are actually two different people….WOW!!

    • prism of an immigrant March 16, 2011 at 10:34 PM

      Best collection thus far.

    • myHairmyBeauty March 16, 2011 at 10:39 PM

LDA is a true visionary, I love her attention to detail and the hair-pieces as well….I blogged about. http://WWW.myhairmyBeauty.wordpress.com

    • THE AMAKA March 17, 2011 at 12:12 AM

that lady is soooo Agbani’s twin.
her collection was NICE, not what i expected though. the thing i love about LDA is that even though she changes it up all the time, she still maintains her signature. she has a noticeable signature about her designs, which makes her stand out to me rather than others.
others may have cute pieces….but not very memorable.
      NICE.
      9/10

    • asanwam March 17, 2011 at 12:21 AM

    • biola March 17, 2011 at 12:54 AM

i just don’t like LDA. some dresses were really nice and shes really talented but most of them were one kind of strange. but its nice that she has a a unique style. you recognize her clothes even in ur sleep.

    • Helen March 17, 2011 at 9:39 AM

Real, wearable clothes that the average woman would like to wear. What a refreshing change!

    • makioba March 17, 2011 at 9:58 AM

Really Nice and wearable!!! Loving it Lda

    • Rapunzel March 17, 2011 at 12:42 PM

The fabric designs make this collection, other than that, the designs are neither unique nor innovative.

    • bebeee March 17, 2011 at 12:58 PM

LDA is known as ms prim n proper definately for the debutantes. going for tea party, picnics, or dining wit the royals….kudos sha but not my style

    • foolish talk March 17, 2011 at 1:30 PM

      finally.. standing ovation for LDA.

    • Foxtrot © March 17, 2011 at 1:42 PM

Where do they get these so called “models” from? Nice collection – Lanre always delivers. But the models…………………..and can Nigerian designers please pay a little more attention to hair and make up! it makes a difference.

      • someboRRy March 17, 2011 at 3:01 PM

onuku! cant you see agbani darego? former miss world?

pls free the models abeg *rme*

      • The real miss pinky.. March 17, 2011 at 3:04 PM

What is wrong with the models?

      • Folake March 21, 2011 at 10:17 AM

Are you for real foxtrot? models, hair and makeup?? Most of the models are international models. I think the models, hair, makeup and LDA designs looked fab on the runway.

    • Foxtrot © March 17, 2011 at 1:43 PM

Ps: Lanres dress is the best of the lot ……………I wonder why? ;-)

      • MizzCJ March 18, 2011 at 3:01 AM

LOL! i was thinking da same thing!

        • MizzCJ March 18, 2011 at 3:08 AM

But then she has a fuller body…! #justsayin

    • Chibaby March 17, 2011 at 6:53 PM

This designer pratically used colorful lace materials to design styles I’ve seen before. Some of them are nice though.

    • honey March 18, 2011 at 2:27 AM

      very ladylike. beautiful.

    • adenike March 18, 2011 at 8:50 AM

Quite an impressive collection.I wish i could lay my hands on those shorts..

    • jazmin March 21, 2011 at 11:03 PM

am loving Africa fashion week but the casting for this particular show leaves something to be desired. The models look nice but they come off almost aloof in the runway pics i dont know how this happened for this show.

    • The Diva March 22, 2011 at 4:47 PM

not for me thank you, I prefer for my fabric to be more practical and wearable, and for the style to be less dowdy, but she must be doing something right for some people the way they rock her clothes!

    • Aiyeola Adebayo Michael March 30, 2011 at 11:52 PM

I love the fabrics and the designs. LDA is really telanted.

    • mee April 1, 2011 at 3:24 PM
