BN Exclusive: New MUD Nigeria Print & Video Ad Campaign featuring Genevieve Nnaji
Since its launch in June 2010, MUD Cosmetics has made significant strides towards establishing the brand as one of the top makeup brands in Nigeria. The MUD Nigeria brand ambassador, Nollywood star, Genevieve Nnaji has played a major role in the emergence of the brand.
BellaNaija.com presents an exclusive look at the new print campaign ads for MUD featuring Genevieve Nnaji.
The accompanying video ad has been broadcast during episodes of Nigerian Idol for which MUD Nigeria is a proud partner. In addition to partnering with Nigerian Idol, MUD is also the official makeup line of the African International Film Festival.
MUD International has a strong focus on makeup education and the development of the makeup industry. MUD is upholding that commitment in Nigeria through the newly established MUD Make-up Artists Association (MMAA) and also via the MUD Makeup School which is in the process of graduating its second class of students.
Check out the print and video ads below.

December 8, 2010 at 9:44 am
I completely concur. Whomever took the pictures and close-up vids of her face is great, but who chose the music and who okayed it? Don’t they see Covergirl and Loreal commercials? Music should be upbeat, voice over should be perky. You’re appealing to women here, people.

If this is an american based product, which I sincerely doubt; (they wouldnt be using Genny as their model, if that was the case) the advert producer should be sued!!! This advert doesnt do anything for me!!!! I will never think of buying this product based on the advert I just saw, and I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way…I love Genny, I think she’s a fantastic actress, a gracious celeb, extremely gorgeous to boot… But this advert aint just cutting it for me.. I’m sorry…

December 6, 2010 at 6:52 pm
I can sense ur pain Tina but pls make it urs alone and try not to speak for others. I think u need to research more on the product and how it came to be in the country before u make dumb remarks about their marketing techniques and choice of model. It is called “know thy market”. Would rather they used lady gaga??
Ayodeji
December 6, 2010 at 10:03 pm
Please why say someone else is making dumb remarks? She said its not doing anything for her! And she said she wouldn’t buy it based on the advert she just saw. How is that dumb biko? and the ad truly has no energy!

December 7, 2010 at 8:52 am
I’ve tried this product and I must say I am impressed with it’s lasting effect, not to mention finishing. Mac has been confusing my – for a long time. Every store u go to there’s always someone to tell u how wrong your foundation or powder (that was just recommended in another of their stores) is for you.
Plus I don’t think they care if Africans use their products or not. Everyday they are signing up one celebrity or another for endorsements (now Nicki Minaj) and they haven’t given a thought to a face that will represent their African clients. Not an Oluchi or an Agbani!!
I care for those who care about me or winning me over and Mud is trying to do that so I will definitely give them a shot.

MAC is good, no doubt. But their make-up artists at selfridges london are rushed off thier feet. Don’t feel like serving; like taking the time to attend to their customers. Customer service is the first priority of any good organisation. So, for anyone that feels mac does not do it for them, then, there is always fashion fair, iman, flori roberts, mud cosmetics, bobbi brown, sheisdo, estee lauder, so many out there that are equally good for black skin.
You go on genny!

When people say it’s not upbeat enough, i’m thinking is she advertising gym shoes, coca cola, hair product etc .Now those i expect a bubbly mood to it not for makeup. The focus of the ad is the her face, that you see the difference; the before and after image. If you get that from the ad, then that’s good. Any thing else is contrary to the point. Simple!
Revlon ad is not any better, the one with Halle berry. They’ve kept that same ad for so long even i get the point, her lips. The before and after pictures of her lips not her voice over for God sakes.
Way to go MUD. Would love to try the makeup, if i can lay my hands on it from Chicago.

December 9, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Much kudos to the girls that brought MUD over to Nigeria, i’m sure they’ve invested alot of money into the project, but my only problem is I wonder if it’s really a big name major premium brand in the US? I’d love to hear from anyone based over there if they use the brand. The same goes for Sleek products in the UK (boots & superdrug stock it), and even Iman in the US (it’s more like an Avon type of franchise through colour me beautiful). But when they land on our shores a big woo ha is made over it because finally we have another brand to use. I give much love to Banke and Tara and Lise who are doing their own thing. Bayo is an amazing Makeup Artist and as I said i’m not hating, they’ve invested alot in the project, I wish them alot of luck. We need more variety in what’s available over here.

Btw way ladies, if you are looking for a more affordable foundation that works magic, try Photo Ready by Revlon. I found it in the drugstore and it goes up the darkest shade called “mocha.” If you are sort of light skinned, you might want to try “cappuccino” before you go up to mocha. I used to use Mac studio tech but that – was only lasting me a month and I’m not made of money, so I tried this one. I tell u, once you pop you can’t stop. For the perfect look, after a layer of photo ready- you can finish it off with studio fix.
GOODLUCK!
