Yuck! Whats that on Eku’s head? is hair or what? Naaa, not a fan of that hair at all. Its not appealing, and her face looks like a Toy. Complete Fashion really got it wrong this time. As Ice-Prince, whats that with the shades… Franka Asindi should have known better, you dont need those shades on a Front Cover. You look more like a real ABOKI. Yuck!

I totally agree with you.. after appearing in Britain’s Next top model she still cannot make a fierce pose..Only in Nigeria were rejects from abroad become super stars e.g Tiwa savage, Banky W, etc

Corrector! Did you learn your French from a perfume bottle? Je l’adore is correct. You don’t need to be jealous of people who speak languages you don’t, instead go out and learn. Even if she made a mistake, she is not allowed to try abi. I pray envy will not destroy our nation.

I am surprised at the racist comments against Eku. She is Nigerian. Whether she is black, yellow or white. Please point out her flaws but don’t keep refering to her skin colour as giving her advantage as it only makes your inferiority complex come out. Don’t we have black girls that have won international beauty peagents? And why would it be difficult for young girls in public and private schools to relate to her? Is she an “Ojuju calabar”?? She is young and fresh and in the limelight so she is trending, Simple. When they get tired of her face, they will seek for change but please, no more of those skin colour comments, she is human too.

    • HABBA

      March 19, 2013 at 9:32 pm

no body is hating on her! but it seems like the Whiter/lighter you are the more africans equate you as beautiful, fresh and lovely. i dont know how many times you have been to london and seen an indian girl or black girl on a major billboard. But in africa it is always the lightest with blond weave ( a subliminal message of a white womans beauty being held on a pedestal). simple and short. if you ignore it thats ur bizwax

    • seriously tho?

      March 20, 2013 at 6:25 am

Are you seriously calling ‘racist’ pointing out the UNDENIABLE fact that black people – and Nigerians in particular who are notorious for their skin bleaching – are all afflicted by a bias toward white skin and straighter hair which make them FAWN OVER anyone looking like Eku??
Do you know what racism even means?? Going by your definition, pointing out prejudice and discrimination is racist which is utterly ridiculous!!
Get the hell outta here with your “Whether she is black, yellow or white”!! Most women in Nigeria bleaches the skin and wear straight hair to look like Eku, they do not try to get darker with kinkier hair !! Stop the madness please!
To be mixed raced or affiliated with anything white in Africa is to be assumed to be beautiful and assumed to be rich. You are in denial and utterly ridiculous if you cant face this fact.
“don’t keep refering to her skin colour as giving her advantage as it only makes your inferiority complex come out” Nope, you are actually wrong, to speak up against it requires a lot of courage to stand up to this bull. You are talking about inferiority complex as if most of us are not afflicted by it in one way or another. Goddamit, open your eyes, we live in a country where people aspire to look white and live a white lifestyle.
The fact that you would try and deny this, shut down all ‘skin comments’ rather speak for your inability to deal with the obvious. You would rather bury your head in the sand and pretend that we are not all still deeply mentally affected by colonialism.

My dear @ Opsy…tell them oo. They’re acting as though if they were Eku, they’ll reject the offer if presented to them. The girl is pretty, whether white skin or black..deal with it

Eku normally looks so good. Not feeling her cover photo or the second one. The model looks nice though

  29. Dolapo

    March 20, 2013 at 9:19 am

The comments about Eku are just ridiculous. She is light skinned and skinny, get over it. If you don’t like, do buy the magazine. Simple.

    • Dolapo

      March 20, 2013 at 9:24 am

In fact, if its darker skin and curves you relate more with, there is a magazine currently out which has Toolz Oniru on the cover – buy that one instead and free this silly debate!

    • seriously tho?

      March 20, 2013 at 2:49 pm

      Denial Mchewwwwww
      SMH
This still doesnt explain the skin bleaching and hair relaxing craze.
This debate is very important! It is important to face this kind of issue face on, just like racism! It wont go away on its own.
I have seen too many women close to me who got their skin burnt and life almost destroyed because they are constantly made to believe by this color-stuck society that they are less than!
I just cant believe that people would deny the existence of favouritism towards light-skinned and mixed-raced people in our society. This is unbelievable!
You are so uncomfortable with it that so you are trying to shut down the debate. You cant even offer any counter arguments of quality other than “free this silly debate”
      SMH o

    March 20, 2013 at 6:52 pm

@seriously tho, u must be really stupid and insecure with your yeye bitter comments. Is toolz or countless dark skinned girls used as cover girl light skinned, u better get over your insecurities and work on your self confidence ode. Is Nike oshinowo light skinned or genievieve they highly esteemed and on every guys dream. Eku works hard to get where she’s is today not ciuz she’s mixed. They r lot of dark skinned girls who r hot cakes and highly wanted, is Naomi Campbell white skinned. She’s one of d hottest n most wanted model in the world. Am very fair skinned , but it’s the way you carry yourself comport yourself and your self confidence that matters in life. Warren buffets wife is Asian. So many like that. No one cares about your skin my dear. Most of the successful corporate head women are dark. Work hard, go out with confidence . People relate to you the way you want them to.

    • seriously tho?

      March 21, 2013 at 4:02 am

      No arguments, only adhominem attacks.
Calling me stupid then citing Naomi Campbell as an example of diversity, as if tokenism was diversity SMH
You are incredibly ignorant and it hurts. So one or two black models in a world of only white models shows that racism is dead right?? Pathetic!!
“Most of the successful corporate head women are dark.” Where exactly did you pull this made up rubbish. And even if it was the case are you seriously comparing corporate function and modelling activities where one is based on mental and intellectual abilities and the other is 100% based on look? Are you serious??
The fact that there are many dark-skinned people famous in a overwhelming dark-skinned populated country does in NOTHING negate the fact that being light-skinned you are more likely to be given exposure because colorism exists, it favors certain individuals over others and to deny this is to beyond ridiculous.

BTW I am not insecure enough to denigrate anyone to make my point clear. I never did insult anyone here, you started it. How much do you really feel secure in yourself and what you say for you to insult a stranger on the internet and attack the personality of a person you have never met?? Is this what you call carrying yourself well?? You behave like a ratchet girl off the streets, please!! Unable to articulate any proper thoughts, yet only spill out insults.
“No one cares about your skin my dear” But you havent still managed to explain to me why most Nigerians women bleaches their skin tho!

BTW Bella, why is my comment not posted yet?? I am being insulted and personally attacked here. Why cant I reply to defend myself?? Why post comments insulting me and not giving me the chance to reply?? Is this fair??
