The fact is that most Nigerian girls are not worth it. The average Nigerian girl is aggressive and hostile and so is not worth the stress. Also, the material nature of most Nigerian girls does not make one bother himself as to how to get the girls.

    • idoublecrossmyheart

      January 8, 2014 at 4:57 pm

Generalizations. Nigerian men are not materialistic? It is a vicious cycle. Would you chase a girl with natural hair instead of a weave of another nationality without makeup wearing flats? I guess not. You get what you pay for. Fine oyinbo girls too dey like good thing.

But I get what you are saying though. But it is not just Nigerian girls/women. I find the desire for money, cars, and the newest gadget amongst Nigerian men appalling and unhealthy. They can be aggressive with their demands for sex too. But I do not condemn ALL or MOST Nigerian men. Just some.

And these days the intellectual prowess of women is not appreciated in Nigeria. All I hear is submissive women this, shutup women that, stroke his ego well, bla bla bla. When women do not feel that they are worth beyond their physical attribute then the only attribute in men they would appreciate is their cash.

What you condemn in others, you condemn in yourself. SHIKENA.

You are very stupid for that comment. You’re ignorant to generalize like that.
Maybe you need to change your social circles if thats the only kind of girl you meet.

I forgot to add, most Nigerian girls do not have a sense of humour. The only time you can make them laugh is with material frivolities.

    • Iris

      January 8, 2014 at 6:47 pm

Shet! Somebody really messed you up…but have you met MOST Nigerian girls? We’re approximately half of population 150 million…maybe you’re not funny enough for them to laugh at your jokes, maybe the girls you’re attracted to happen to be materialistic while you don’t notice the good ones because they aren’t glamorous enough for you. Maybe it’s the kind of people you hang out with. Maybe you focus on her being outwardly materialistic and miss out on other positive qualities she may have that in the long term take over that one negative. If you are still convinced that it is a Nigerian girl thing, then pele. It is well LOL

Please also balance your vlogs with quality tips for the ladies. lol

  12. St. ed

    January 8, 2014 at 3:55 pm

Why should a Nigerian man try to woo a Nigerian lady when all that is at the back of her mind is money, brazillian hair, shopping in dubai and the likes…….
You don’t expect a man to be creative when he knows he can easily get what he wants by a few wads of Naira notes……
Toke is right with the issue of lack of creativity in courting a lady, albeit, ladies can’t have both sides at the same time. Creativity has been sacrificed on the altar of materialism.
Her vlog should also educate ladies on if material possession and flamboyance equates to love…..

    • idoublecrossmyheart

      January 8, 2014 at 4:59 pm

      I do not think so.

If I expect a man to cheat, I will spend my time snooping his phone, email to confirm my fears.

If you expect that women only want cash, then that is exactly what you will receive. You get what you attract.

    • St. ed

      January 9, 2014 at 1:26 am

I know you want to defend the female folk and that’s
understandable but I have had conversations with alot of nigerian
ladies and quite alot don’t appreciate creativity. Just a select
few appreciate creativity in a guy…….. Nigerian girls make it
      just too easy……

  13. Peter

    January 8, 2014 at 3:56 pm

LOL. Please advise the ladies too. Sometimes, the way you carry yourself matters a lot. Some ladies make it look as if dating is an enterprise or business venture.

    January 8, 2014 at 6:12 pm

Judging from the comments that some guys have made regarding the vain and ostentatious nature of Nigerian women, I hide my face in shame…. Thankfully I am married but still worried for the millions of single women who all been grouped under the same umbrella.

@Idak, as the wise sages have told us, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”…

@Goddess & Robin, oya, you both have my blessing (as if you care, abi?). Go forth and mingle (not bodily fluids, oh) and may you both exhibit the honesty, forthrightness and lack of a desire to play games which you’ve shown on this page…

@BN, oya, find a way to score out Robin’s BB pin from that message because the BANS principle is still very much in active operation among singles gals (Babes Are Not Smiling).

I feel you Toke, imagine the pick up line a guy who has been seeing me in my office used 2da “Excuse me, am always seeing you here, do you work here? Re you one of the managers here? Can we go on a date ?”Seriouslyyyyyy! After all that mumu JAMB question/ mini interview in one breath, who would want to go on a date with you. I just jejely excused myself from continuing that conversation.

  24. Esco

    January 8, 2014 at 8:35 pm

How many of these girls want to gotten creative with. Some of them are materialistic, some of them are short-tempered and have little time for frivolities or mental fore-play, so most dudes just cut to the chase.

The worst are girls who refuse to go on dates with you unless it is to the Galleria to watch movies or some swanky restaurant when they can stuff their faces with carb-ladden food. What is it with some Nigerian girls and refusing to do something different? A few girls seem to think that a date must equal food and film? What happened to peeping the aesthetics, hanging at the beach and watching the waves meet the sunset. Heck, can’t we go to the National Museum at Onikan, so that I could show you Igbo Ukwu Bronze pots, Nok terraculture plus the limousine Murtala was slain in? Or why don’t we head to the National Theatre at Iganmu, and catch an Ola Rotimi play? Nah, she would rather watch a Hollywood blockbuster at Silverbird, but not before we visit the sharwama and popcorn stands.

A friend of mine recently met this girl he really fancied at a get-together. He decided to take her on a date, and wanted to do something different. They both lived in Abuja, so he had a good idea. Or so he thought

He showed up at the girls house, and picked her up. The girl got into the car, looked at the backseat and screamed “What are you doing with a bed sheet?”

The back seats had a basket filled with a loaf of premium sliced butter bread, butter, crackers, Nasco biscuit, cheese, bubbly, baked beans, sausage, ham, some juice, a small Ipod and its deck, and a cloth.

He replied “Nah, it is a table-cloth. I wanted us to go to a park for a picnic.”

She opened her eyes in disbelief “Pick pin? No oh! I can’t go to any park, the sun would make my skin dark. Take me to Ceddi Plaza or somewhere to eat or drop me off.”

He dropped her off. Like a bad habit

I would have melted for that. Naija guys like shallow girls. You get what you lusted for.

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      January 9, 2014 at 1:41 pm

God bless you. Although I’ll temper your statement by saying “A LOT of Nigerian men like shallow gals”. This revelation explains the enduring mystery to me of Runs Babes and how they always seem to land some very eligible boyfriends/husbands. Those chicks appear to have it all worked out…

@Esco, I was actually reminded of your Abuja “pick pin” story featured on your blog, when I was reading some of the comments on this post. I see you got here first… 🙂 The other one which cracked me up as much was the story of your friend, his date and the African mask. Pure jokes…

LOLLLLLLLL!!!!! ……………….Oh my days!!! This had me in stitches!!!

    • memebaby

      January 9, 2014 at 3:04 am

lool so there are Nigerian guys like that ? thats really
sweet. Personally I do not enjoy going to see a movie on the 1st
date. I believe we want to get to know each other meaning we have
to converse. How can you do that in a movie theatre ?… Another
thing is if she’s not interested, she will love to spend your money
by eating at a fancy place or going somewhere BIG because that is
      her #1 priority. smh

    • idoublecrossmyheart

      January 9, 2014 at 12:23 am

Do not USE most Nigerian women. Because I have a tall tale
of TERRIBLE dates with Nigerian men. Most of these dates do not
even have an idea of a date. The idea of a date is stay home and
watch tv. At least these women want to go to the movies or
restaurants. Some Nigerians need to stop with shaming women.
Everything is shaming women. My goodness! If it is not telling her
how to treat her man, it is shaming her for even entertaining his
attention. Can we please start a discussion on some Nigerian men?
They do not have a healthy reputation too. My goodness.

    • Idak

      January 9, 2014 at 10:53 am

I see your point but I do not think you are coming to equity with clean hands.
Almost all BN discussions terminates at the ‘men bashing’ bus stop. It is always about how Naija men are rapists, violators, physically abusive, ego maniac and do not know what they want.
Even the activities of fully grown runz girls are blamed on naija men.

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      January 9, 2014 at 2:01 pm

@idoublecrossmyheart, the example that easily comes to mind is Mercy Johnson’s story of her first date with her husband during which he took her to his place & asked her to cook something.

No doubt, it was some kind of test (Lord only knows why) but I couldn’t help attributing it to the lack of “early relationship romance” (plus even the post-marital one, kwanu) often exhibited by Naija men.

    January 8, 2014 at 11:29 pm

    Very apt.

I once offered to take a girl out on a walk on my local golf course and she showed up dressed like a girl going out to a club. Her face was cemented with make up, not to mention her gigantic gucci handbag. In fact the White guys I was playing with couldn’t help but poke fun at her.

“With this size of back, there was no need for Don to come down with his golf back, as his clubs could easily fit in” they joked.

Hear her: “oh that would be cool. It would be nice to see what a golf club would look like in a gucci bag”

A couple of weeks later, one of the boys used a marker to write “Gucci” on his bag, and you can imagine the look on my face anytime I run into him.

Be rest assured that it was the last time I hung out with the chic again.

    • idoublecrossmyheart

      January 9, 2014 at 12:18 am

You decided to take a girl out on a walk on YOUR LOCAL GOLF
COURSE. What stupid DATE is that? So it is ok for you to show off
your GOLF hobby and not OK for her to show you one of her handbag
collection abi? See men. Did you carry her in keke napem? Or was it
in your latest car acquisition? I am not trying to defend her
clothing choices because some Nigerian women and men usually dress
inappropriately to events. But you started it with the date on a
golf course. Any man who takes me on a date on a golf course with
his buddies as a FIRST DATE….not only will I help his friend
write gucci on his golf clubs, I will use those clubs to slap gucci
across his face. Next time, do as invites do, write “dress
casually” or “formally”. You failed to do your duty. You invited
her, you inform her of the dress code. Not everyone is as
golf-friendly as you. And for the record, NO ONE NEEDS A WHITE
MAN’S VALIDATION. Nigerians and their white-worshipping. At least,
she had a sense of humor. You did not know how to laugh.

    • Purpleicious Babe

      January 9, 2014 at 1:07 am

I think its fair to say some guys prolly thought the babe
was decent hence the approach. Some ladies also know how to act the
part in the beginning n show true colours later. I guess
dudes/ladies need spirit of discernment to know who is fooling

guys like shallow girls. its as simple as that. I used to
think something was wrong with me. I am attractive. I don’t want to
say very but I know that I try small sha. ok not small.. maybe big.
lol. anyways but I never met guys who ticked my box. or if I met
ones that seemed that way they were the typical rich spoilt idiots
i’ll rather die than hang out with. but I changed my perspective
and I am happy to say I am with a real man who knows what it is to
be a man. not all that rubbish u see around. these days men just
want a trophy wife. someone pretty, slim tall who doesn’t mind if
they cheat. who is ready to kiss their ass at every opportunity she
gets. in short they want an ode. and most ladies don’t want to be
play that role. the ones who don’t mind playing the fool are the
gold diggers. so oga grow some sense. change some things about
urself and I am certain u would meet a real down to earth matured
lady who knows what life is all about…. how does that saying
go….. d one that says u are what u attract or whatever.

Forget Nigerian men and their rants. How many of them would go for a decent babe? @Don J was the day she visited your golf course the first day you saw her? Have you not seen her with the heavily plastered Mary Kay face? Was it not part of what attracted you? See Nigerian men want all in one made person but they refuse to understand that an advantage you see on one side is a disadvantage on the other side. For eg my crazy cousin came to me that he is in search of a decent girl that he will have a relationship with and eventually marry. He even warned me that he didnt want a materialistic babe. I obliged this boy and introduced him to a couple of my friends now see his excuse…
    1. why does she not make up with all these fine things girls use?
    2. Why does she not fix her nails?
    3. She is always on braids, does she not like long hair?
    4. All these your friends are too quiet, they dont club?
and other orishirishi nonsense questions on top of different beautiful and hardworking babes. Imagine my frustration, then i decided to take him to a runs chick i attended the same sec school with imagine the instant attraction cos the babe was glittering and shimmering. I laughed in my heart, i gave him a parting warning ‘Make sure this one works” Nonsense! I suffice it to say that this is the mind set of majority of the Nigerian male specie. A babe is shimmering and shinning with a job that pays 50k, has her own house and carries Gucci bag and you think relationships are not business matters to her.. My friend park well.

so true…they all whine i like a girl who is not too glammed up but they will be salivating over the girls with the 22 inches weave, her face like a black up ad, wearing 6 inches heels.
imagine my surprise when i was chatting with a guy and he stated that beacuse im carrying my NATURAL hair, guys around me believe i dont give a hoot about being in a relationship. what has natural hair got to do with relationship?
most Nigerian men are just want a cerebral thinker with hair like beyonce, body like Kim and a dress sense like Kimora…i wish you well

      you get sense die!!
Meanwhile, you willingly threw you cousin under a bus? You bad o?

Loooool! Idak nwanne m forgive me. That boy was so clueless and always rubbing his oil coy working status on my face. Telling me that he needed a ‘classy’ chic to match his ‘beauty’ and wealth. showing me pix of his so-called friends chics. I have stylishly told him to be careful and I have joked about dancing in the rain with rain coat. But he says he is experienced. my dear I rest my case. I cant direct someone almost 10yrs older than I am.

Lmao, same thing i did to one of my Single Bosses. He Saw a pic of a flashy runs babe on my phone and fell inlove, meanwhile i had been trying to hook him up with my descent bestfriend since forever.
Goodluck to both of them, by the time the runs chick is done with him, his eyes would clear.

Meanwhile come and introduce me to that your cousin ohhh lol, i think i have what he is looking for. You just have to have a bit of everything and combine the cerebral thinker with the fashionista. 😀

@camo and @lila, una don answer well (and have cracked me up in the process, no be small “why is she always on braids, doesn’t she like long hair?”). And I so agree with this statement – “most Nigerian men are just want a cerebral thinker with hair like beyonce, body like Kim and a dress sense like Kimora…i wish you well”. 🙂 🙂

  33. Don J

    January 9, 2014 at 10:15 am

@idoublecroossmyheart – I am struggling to find a correlation between playing golf and showcasing her Gucci hand bag. No where did I mention that it was wrong for her to showcase her face or bag. My point was that for the terrain her dressing was way out of line. You need not be told that you ought to be dressed sporty to a golf course. It clearly depicted a lack of exposure and inability to vary her style to suit a mood or terrain, which in fact is a common trend with Nigerian girls. And what makes you think that it was our first date? Our first date was rather informal as it was a lunch date; thus, we both wore our professional look, an area I’d admit Nigerian girls tend to get it right. It was based on this experience that I foolishly suggested that we shed some weight on the golf course upon which we can have a second date at the club house. Little did I know that it was going to be a date from hell. And the white boy validation talk? Cut out the crap because the same white people you criticize are role models for my Nigerian sisters – accent, weave, Gucci Bags, etc

      January 9, 2014 at 12:37 pm

Don J dear, since that was not your first date are you saying you didn’t converse enough on your first date to ascertain the level of her exposure? I agree with @idoublecrossmyheart you both were showing off. if not how can you invite someone who doesn’t obviously play golf to a golf-course? If not to showoff? The babe got the memo of showing off and arrived in style..loooooool!

    • whocares

      January 9, 2014 at 1:58 pm

lmaoooo at she got the memo and arrived in style. lool. Is it safe to assume that she came in a clingy dress, heels and Gucci bag? If she did, maybe she was dressing both for your walk round the golf course and the eventual date? Ladies have no problem walking in heels, and Gucci bag does not obstruct the mouth used to converse, or the leg to walk. LOOOL. I know I am taking the piss. It is just so easy to do.

Don J wanted to show off and met his match. we don’t golf in Nigeria, its not our thing biko. and its not even a sport we are sooooo interested in.. so apparently, Don J is a showoff, what’s wrong in her dressing like she was going to the club? who told u dat she doesn’t have clubbing dates after ur showoff thingsss? then secondly, since its not ur first time of having a date with her, then u should have developed a little rapport hence, when u saw her dressed like that, u should have told her to change ni. please swerve, u are just a showoff too

*back to normal voice* And no be me talk that sumtin about a dating site, oh! Na anoda commenter been suggest am. My own suggestion to BN was to add a community forum so that all these interesting people who visit the site get a chance to network. But “perraps” who knows what kinds of promising partnerships (of the non-homewrecking variety) could be gained from such a forum? 🙂

    • whocares

      January 9, 2014 at 3:50 pm

Community o, match-making o… something has to be done!!! BN this is a money making avenue for you as well (im sorry I am always thinking of how to make money off things) But let me explain.. People consider you and your readers to be classy, so you can start a match-making site, or community. You will continue your practise of screening comments etc and leave the rest to people? huh? huh? You will have to organise date nights for people of course and that is where your kaching! comes in..

And abeg what is the relationship between taking a walk and actually playing golf. What was her role to be @ the golf course if you knew you were going to be playing golf with friends. You should ve told her to come with friends na so that the equation will be balanced. Except you were trying to indimidate her on ur own turf n she don show you say naija babes no dey carry last.
