*popcorn crunching coke swilling* Waiting for the yapping to commence. I wasn’t there but I saw multiple tweets all complaining about how HIGH dude was on stage, how disorganized the whole affair was etc. BN dey report different tory but then again y’all might not want to lose your “exclusives” with Mr. Davido so you will not report anything less than a stellar performance from homey.

Wow. This is how propaganda works. There are so many media outlets saying that the event was shut down by NYC police due to capacity. The police shut down the event because it was time for the event to end. In the United States of America, if a venue is meant to close at 4am that means that the guests need to be out of the building by 4am. That is why clubs turn on the lights and send guests home about 15 minutes before the time the venue is supposed to close. The police shut down the party at 3:45am. That being said, the event was very packed and people could not get in, even those with tickets.

Davido started performing at around 3:30am. He did not even get to his most popular songs like “Skelewu” and “Gobe’. An event should not be advertised as a concert if the artist is only performing for 15 minutes. I heard he made up for the mess in NYC when he was in DC. That is good for him. But, these promoters will continue to do the same thing over and over again because they don’t really have any competition. I am happy I got free entry into the NYC event. Next time I will stay away from Nigerian events in Brooklyn.

lol…i stopped doing Brooklyn events long time ago…some rass promoters creating rass events

    • Dami

      April 2, 2014 at 3:04 am

Agree with this 100% !!!! They advertised the event as a “concert” when in fact it was just your usual African party with an appearance from Davido. I’m done with parties outside the city, trashy venue, and he performed for not even 20 minutes. I blame the promoters anyway.

Definitely! Classier. On a normal day u can’t compare British and American fashion. It is only the celebrities in the states that know how to dress.

A lot has been made of the high turnout and how it was so high that the show was shut down for safety concerns. Congrats to Davido and his promoters for the apparent success. I’m not hating, the engineer in me is uncomfortable with incomplete data. No one has reported on the capacity of the venue and whether the organizers under-estimated demand or were skimping on expenses and so went with a smaller than wise venue. There’s a big difference between selling out a 200 person capacity hall and selling out a 50,000 person arena. It’s like comparing growth rates without reporting on the base that this growth is calculated from.

Look at all the ratchetness….ah ah even the venue looks like one run down building. Wires hanging everywhere.

    – If it’s not in Manhattan, I’m not showing. All those brooklyn, bronx, Queens venues be shady as hell. Venue in the hood, run down building, and charging crazy prices for tickets. On top of that the artist will show up late and perform for only 15mins.

Once day naija promoters will learn quality over quantity. Put on a good show and people will be loyal. Not sure who organized the flavor concert in NYC, but i will go to any event those people host. Flavor’s NYC concert was the most organized concert i’ve attended in this yankee.

    • random

      April 2, 2014 at 7:50 am

I was at flavour and you are lying. Mediocre is mediorce.

He came 2hrs late (better than Davido I guess) and the venue wasn’t packed probably why it appeared organized. And Flavour sang like 5 songs so no police had to drive anyone away.

    • NaijaPikin

      April 2, 2014 at 2:07 pm

Aha…..you sure you went to the same concert? He wasn’t late, he had opening acts. And it was a largeeeeeeeeeeee venue hence why it wasn’t stuffed. Enough room for everyone to breathe. And he performed more than 5 songs, i have my videos as a good reminder.

Haha! I see some Bible-thumping-hand-raised-praising-Church-Going Christian sisters and brothers (you know who you are, I see you), along with some poseurs (that is the correct spelling) who constantly fake. The Lord be with you LOL. But seriously, I weep for our youth – my generation. If this is what really gets us going, consider our future screwed. Not saying that one cannot have fun. But hey, ‘parry’ is the only thing that shacks Africans.

As for me, i know majority of these people prayed and cried to God to get their visas.

They travel and become something else. Hope some people now know why God has not answered their prayer to go abroad? He knows what will become of many.

What is it?! It’s a club like atmosphere for goodness sakes with people there to have fun & see Davido! This is not an Asa or Bez concert! Did they steal your water? I’m normally found in bookish, erudite settings but was planning on heading to Davido’s concert in Dallas with my merry group of pan Africans now I’m not so sure before you people start roasting people you don’t know because they have bad taste in clothes. It’s sweet to judge from behind computer ba? Just sickening. Sickening.
