Isi Atagamen Fall Winter 2014 Collection Lookbook - BellaNaija - July2014002

Earlier on this year we got a taste of Isi Atagamen Fashion Label‘s take on fashion for working mothers with Ariyike Akinbobola, now the Nigerian fashion brand is here with a brand new collection – “Isimeme“.

Owned by model turned designer Isi Atagamen, IAFL’s collection which translates as ‘Bright Future’ is birthed out of the joy of acceptance, and the new age at logger heads with tradition.

According to the brand:

This season’s collection is designed with the intention of showing the limitlessness of the IAFL woman. She’s comfortable with tradition whilst staying chic. With inspiration from the 30s/40s, fabric manipulations, textures, 3D appliques and a refined combination of the brand’s signature, we have the birth of “ISIMEME” (bright future)

The collection is filled with various hand-made African prints and fabrics including batik & aso-oke infused fabric with organza and lace. Its dresses, jumpsuits, capes, jackets and more pieces have a traditional appeal with new age cuts and inserts that give a structured twist to each piece.

IAFL will also be showcasing this collection and launching a pre-sale campaign at the 3rd edition Call the Tune with Vogue Talents.

Honestly, the concept needs more work. The footwear did not marry into the arrangement at all. It looks as if no one put a thought into the footwear not to even it was an afterthought. Or just maybe the feet of the model did not go well with the footwear the designers had in mind.

It’s called Constructive criticism. How can anyone improve in life, if all we give them is “green light” in areas that needs improvement.? Maybe you should watch “Project Runways” to understand the importance of a constructive criticisms when it comes to a designer.

It is Nigerians like dis that do us proud. the white dresses are splendid and the clash of modernity and the Yoruba/ Africa concepts. I love the long white dress with the twirl of gele at the waist…nice one

I think this designer is creative. you can see it come off the silhouettes. The sleeves, culottes, jumpsuit, turban and ethnic look is definitely 30s /40s ! good one. I also see a hint of the designer trying to make the looks more contemporary. I think this designer is good but needs to work more on cut and the perfect finish.
