We always look forward to the AMVCAs – it is an event which is arguably one of the biggest awards ceremonies that unites Africa’s creative force like nothing else.
This year, the inaugural edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards united movie lovers and style lovers across Africa like never before on Saturday 7th March 2015.
Hosted by Nigerian radio personality/BBA Host IK Osakioduwa and Zimbabwean TV star Vimbai Mutinhiri, the star studded awards ceremony took place in grand style at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Best Dressed Women
Nollywood screen goddess Genevieve Nnaji brought her movie star appeal to the red carpet for the 2015 AMVCA.
Genevieve Nnaji was in a mustard floor-length custom dress by Elvira Jude. The dress, which featured off shoulder straps, was accessorized with pink jewelry from Seraphina’s Gem and a pink box clutch.
Styled by Veronica Odeka, Genevieve Nnaji looked every inch a diva last night.
Dakore Akande gave us a reminder of how gorgeous colour blocking can be when done right.
The stunning actress and mother of 2 rocked a purple and yellow dress by House of Dabira. Her outfit was simple but elegant and it is definitely one of our favourite looks for the night.

Media personality Toke Makinwa brought her A-game to the red carpet.
Styled by Harvella Styles, Toke Makinwa wore a gorgeous white dress by Pastiche Couture. We definitely love the neckline detail of the dress.

The Nollywood actress gave us two gorgeous looks for the night at the 2015 AMVCAs but our favourite definitely has to be the first outfit she rocked – a white dress that showed off her famous curves.
The dress featured a slit and a low neckline.
Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas was gorgeous in her custom made dress from fashion brand Pistis paired with a gorgeous pair of leopard print Casadei pumps.
Funke Akindele killed it on the red carpet at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Styled by Yolanda Okereke, Funke Akindele’s green dress had the most gorgeous detailing both in the front and back of the dress.
She accessorized with a nude glittery clutch and a pair of silver earrings.
Talk about another simple dress that was both classy and elegant and Oreka Godis has to be mentioned.
A plunging neckline and romantic lacy fabric are some of the features of her ethereal white dress from Peridot.

Actress Beverly Naya gave us her own definition of style by going the unconventional route in a black Reiss jumpsuit for the 2015 AMVCAs.
She accessorized with a gold watch and ring, a black Russell & Bromley clutch and a gold pair of Christian Louboutin heels.
We expected perfection from Rita Dominic and we got it.
The gorgeous Nollywood diva wore a lovely dress from Nigerian fashion brand Lanre DaSilva Ajayi.
Rita Dominic kept her jewelry and makeup simple as she opted for a nude lip colour with gold accessories.
Andrea Manuela Giaccaglia
Andrea Giaccaglia looked so gorgeous in Wana Sambo.
The Italian/Ghanaian diva rocked a maroon sheer dress that featured a cinched thigh slit.
The dress, from Wana Sambo’s Resort 2015 collection, was a chiffon maxi dress with lace cut-out shoulders and gathered high split detail in front.
One of the red carpet hosts for the night, Zina Anumudu looked simply and classy in a cream coloured dress by Chidinma Obairi.
Her makeup, done by Ranti Omezie, was a two-toned smokey eye complemented with nude lipstick.
Best Dressed Men
Blossom Chukwujekwu was not just the winner of the ‘Best Supporting Actor (Drama) award, he is also a winner on the red carpet as he rocked a black floral jacket and black pants designed by Bosi and Charles.
We always expect a stylish look from Denola Grey and once again he delivered.
The style blogger rocked a unique velvet blazer by McMeka paired with black pants.
For his 2015 AMVCAs Denola was styled by Zed Eye.
Nollywood legend Richard Mofe-Damijo was a delight to see on the red carpet.
He looked quite dapper in his three-piece suit and velvet bow-tie.
We are so used to seeing Kunle Idowu as Frank Donga in a pink shirt that we almost could not recognize him on the red carpet.
The comedic actor for NdaniTV rocked a marsala three-piece suit and he added an extra pop of colour with a yellow & black brooch.
Comedian AY Makun was another gentleman who gave us a dapper look at the 2015 AMVCAs.
Winner of the ‘New Era Award’, AY Makun rocked a black print blazer and black pants.
Best Dressed Couple
We love to spot stylish couples on the red carpet and this year at the AMVCAs there were quite a number of celebrity couples who brought their A-Game…together!
Osas Ighodaro & Gbenro Ajibade
There is no doubt that Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro and her fiancé Gbenro Ajibade make a stunning couple.
The opening act for the night rocked a gorgeous rich red dress from Badgley Mischka. She accessorized with gold bracelets, a Dolce & Gabbana purse and red drop earrings.
Gbenro Ajibade looked dapper in a black suit accessorized with a red brooch.
Busola Dakolo & Timi Dakolo
Busola Dakolo and music star hubby Timi Dakolo are another couple that rocked the red carpet.
Busola looked gorgeous in a teal dress by Fouad Sarkis Couture which is exclusively available from NHN Couture in Nigeria.
The dress featured gold embroidery and an off shoulder sleeves. She accessorized with gold bracelets, a gold clutch and gold earrings.
Timi Dakolo opted for an African touch in a deep blue traditional attire and red cap.
Tonye & Praiz
We could not help but notice singers Tonye and Praiz on the red carpet as the two of them were spotted everywhere together.

They definitely looked good together as Tonye rocked a gorgeous emerald green dress by Elvira Jude with her makeup done nicely by Lola Maja.
Praiz definitely brought his A-Game as well in a monochrome floral print blazer and black pants. He accessorized with a black hat and a blue watch.
Adesua Etomi & Oyekunle Oluwaremi
Green was definitely the colour of the night at the AMVCAs.
Adesua Etomi rocked the rich colour as she stepped on the red carpet in a green dress by Otumemine alongside her date for the night, actor Oyekunle Oluwaremi who complemented her look with a green floral blazer.
