Tonye shouldn’t be here and mercy johnson shouldn’t either. Tonye’s outfit is rumpled! And her look though simple was nothing spectacular. Mercy’s outfit, too tight. Joselyn Dumas, Linda Ejiofor should be on this list

    • Sunshine

      March 8, 2015 at 4:51 pm

Agree . Mercys knee is really dark. She shouldnt wear a slit on that side. Front and back slit might be better .As for ms entitlement, Tonye, her outfit is not hot.

    March 8, 2015 at 1:56 pm

A lot of lovely dresses by the ladies even from some people I don’t know. The ones that didn’t even make the red carpet. It’s hard to pick a best. It’s got to be between Genevieve, Toke and Dakota for me. For the guys, I loved Tayo Faniran’s look. I’m not so sure if it’s about the outfit or the way he carries himself. He looked so dapper. For the couples, most definitely Timi and his wife. That lady looks fantastic for a single lady, talk more of a mum of three.

  11. tunmi

    March 8, 2015 at 1:59 pm

I will say it again, those skits ruined the dress. Maybe Rita’s can pass. Toke’s dressis gorgeous from the back but the slit messed it up. And the sheen/sheer/skintight, that thing that is supposed to give a nude look…yeah that, that also ruined Funke Akindele’s pretty dress.

I love red, so Osas well done. Disqualifying the sheen and slit, and the women were gorgeous too :(….Genny and my new fav woman BUSOLA Dakolo and how can I forget Dakore and Adesua, Una well done.

Oreka looks divine. Ehm BN where are the natives? How can a Nigerian blog’s best dressed not include natives??? Yes the women didn’t wear it but the men did and the men that did wore them well too. You guys do realize the importance of image, no fall my hand oh

  12. Tosin

    March 8, 2015 at 2:06 pm

Please, whoever is selecting, don’t select again. Earlier, maybe dreaming, I saw a lot of sleek, sophisticated amvca looks. This photo set looks nice, but more party party.

You may be saving Denrele’s burlesque spectacle for later…but let me be the 969th person to say: werk it girrrl! And anybody who yaps Denrele is yapping me, so don’t.

  13. Mi'De

    March 8, 2015 at 2:07 pm

Why is Kate Henshaw not on this list? She was so perfect last night, from head to toe. Her make up was flawless, everything about her was gorgeous.

  14. o

    March 8, 2015 at 2:12 pm

A lot of nicely dressed ladies are not on BN’s list eg Kate Henshaw, Lamide Akintobi, Tana Adelana etc.

I feel Toke and Mercy have on the wrong type of shoes for their dresses, abi na my eye???

    • Babs

      March 8, 2015 at 3:15 pm

You are so correct about their shoes..

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      March 9, 2015 at 12:17 pm

      It’s not just your eye.

White was a beautiful colour for both of them on the night, though… and BN got a special side eye from me for the photograph arrangements they did there, especially where they made special mention to Toke for bringing back the thigh slit, knowing what the focus will then be on the photo they placed underneath that sentence. You guys know what you did, I will say no more.

Gorgeous women were out in droves and my memorable style picks are Genevieve, Oreka and Busola Dakolo. The three of them had looks that worked out beautifully.

I like Dakore so much that it pains me not to be “in-like” with her dress but there was something about it that seemed more wedding-inspired (bridesmaid-y, perhaps) as opposed to evening wear. Joselyn’s custom-made dress looks lovely but those animal print shoes didn’t do it any justice. Andrea’s dress in its fit, style and colour is very flattering but I found the sheer top took away from the look. If Wana Sambo had lined the top, I would have been totally in love because everything else (and Andrea was one of the few who got their accessories right because her shoes and jewellery make sense) worked very well with the look.

Genny slayed. Dakore wow, that lady is pretty. My Mercy go on my dear. You’re endowed. I think Joselyn Dumas should have made this list too.

  17. Bey

  18. bruno

    March 8, 2015 at 2:23 pm

no no no HELL NO!!!. stop the ojoro.

I don’t agree with some of your picks.

    zina anumudu ke?

denola grey ke? I love denola but he’s dressing is so cliché.

all these people look good but they are not best dressed material.

best dressed should be someone who slayed in the dress department, the hair department, the make up department and accessories department.

osas is my best dressed. she looked stunning, her and her man looked amazing. I will deduct some few points from her because that dress is not by a nigerian designer.

    beat dressed female- osas

    best dressed male-ik ogbonna

best dressed couple- osas and her man (I dont know he’s name)

most improved- emma nyra and mercy johnson

    best +1- timi dakolo wife

best hair- nobody (all the ladies were wearing weaves) shame.

best accessories- osas. her handsome man and her engagement ring were the best accessories.

    honorable mention- genevieve.

worst dressed- ini edo. u committed a terrible fashion sin by wearing a knock off.
eku (the dress she wore to host the red carpet)
uti- dude, stop decieving your self. you dont know how to dress. your tuxedos always look so tight like they are choking you to death.
noble igwe- next time, stay at home like us and watch on the tv. there is a time and place for everything.

P-R-E-A-C-H Bruno! @uti and Some Nigerian brothers not knowing the difference between a well tailored suit and a suit that your adolescent cousin should be wearing since 2009.
P.S i think the men over did it, I mean those print tuxes were a bit too over played, the men seemed like they were competing with the women. Totally not necessary, the classic tux and one colored suits would have done just fine. I’m guessing most of them used stylists so I’ll just address the stylists : the Metrosexual Look is not for everybody.
This is an award show that is celebrating the movies (arts), some of these “celebrities” should have not been invited. It took away the seriousness of this event.

All of you ranting up and down about BN not selecting the right people; well, this is her blog and she can decide to do whatever. I wonder who made you guys an authority in fashion. Best dress is relative depending on how you see fashion.
If you don’t like BN’s pick, you might as well create a style blog and dish out your fashion opinion. celebrities go through stress to look good and all you guys do is just rant nonsense. Constructive criticism is allowed, but don’t yap way bcos you are behind a device.
Bella I think is high time you organised an event for your Bn commenters, let us see their fashion sense. Every body is now a fashion police.

forget buying weaves and clothes and concentrate on your skin
I’m not saying she should bleach, she can make her chocolate skin very attractive

Me I enjoyed the show , eku’s dress for the red carpet interview ehn! Very bad one, I think Ik is a very cocky person, he was outrightly insulting people, den there was a time when kemi lala asked d awardee recipient to HUG ME! I laffed ehn! Una go carry all d oyinbo tins full stage, dude dint know he had to hug everyone he met on stage, plus genevieves blunder cannoT be overlooked, after proudly saying “always tale amstel malta, it has low sugar, am nt saying d is cos I was asked to, its d number one low sugar drink, then she went ahead to say, d winner of dis award wud get 6months free supply of maltina, yeah, drink n get fat,” and she even demonstrated with her hands over n. Round her stomach, yeah, drink n get fat! If na elsewhere, she don lose dt endorsement deal! But her dress n skin? sooo onpoint! Kate henshaw was allll n everything! N I liked d way Olu jacob n wife were clapping n cheering people on!

Btw BN how can you describe Funke Akindel and Busola dakolo’s outfits as green, am not seeing any shade of green on those outfits, could it be from my eyes or from my computer screen. Anyways, i can see it was a colorful event.

best use of colour- kate henshaw in that banana yellow gown. I loved the colour I loved the african print on the neck area and the back of the dress was divine. I love a gown that has a train.

safest dress- toke makinwa. that dress was so safe and very predictable. white is probably one of the safest colours to wear on the red carpet. we would pretend we didn’t see those ugly shoes yuck.

you can do better award- denola grey. handsome denola, u can totally do better. pls stop with the clichés.

WTF award- denrele. MAKE HIM STOP PLS.
eku edewor’s samurai hair- that hair was the elephant in the room. what was that about. so distracting. ugly dress ugly hair. her skin was glowing tho.

dishonourable mention- vixen. gurl what went wrong. that hidoeus neon pink gown was painful look at.

Lovely list. Everyone looked stunning including mercy Johnson but please take a look at her left foot! Those shoes didn’t suit the dress especially the part that her last toe was partially sticking out didn’t do those curves justice. She’s still got the good bod tho…

1)Mercy J, please note that only slim people can pull that style off. Go and check the records. No beef but it’s true.
2)Yaaaay, I know the designer of Dakore’s dress. Young talent. Thumbs up girl!
3)BN , where are Kunle Afolayan and Femi Jacobs? So it’s only those who are trying to do copy copy tux styles that you know abi. When will you people have a good esteem of our African identity. That’s how you also put Belinda in Controversial dresses. Like seriously? Don’t you guys have a proper fashion critic? And you didn’t have to rush. You could have waited till tomorrow, provided you’ll have done your home work properly

  53. nnenne

    1) Mercy J, no beef but from the records only slim ladies can pull that style off. Yes, because of the legs
    2) I know the designer of Dakore’s dress. Young talent. As in young. Go girl
    3) Am I the only one who sees absolutely nothing extraordinary about Osas’ dress. I think her body just helped.
    4) There are some Asoebi Bella dresses that look more red carpet worthy than some of these styles
    5) Please where are Kunle Afolayan and Femi Jacobs? So it’s only copy copy tux guys you know abi? When will you guys have a good esteem of our African identity? That’s how you b put Belinda on controversial dresses. The babe did something African and dope!
    6) A handful of people are missing on this list and some are just not supposed to be there. Why did you guys rush? We would have preferred that this was posted tomorrow, provided you did something thorough with a good fashion critic.

Genevieve looked amazing. I don’t personally see anything wrong with what she said. If u actually think about it, it was referring to the 6months and obviously if u drink malt everyday for 6 months, (hence y she said it after duration)…u will get fat. Also, no she won’t lose her deal because it was meant to be a joke n even at that it was not even directed at d drink. Too much of anything is bad. pple relax. Just cos she advertise for them don’t mea..i actually respect her for that. She is real! just saying. Best dressed for me is Genevieve!

    1. Genevieve looked gorgeous. So graceful

    2. Toke’s dress was nice but looked more bridal to me

    3. Joselyn from Ghana rocked did but abeg Ghana chicks!!!! Did you guys see Lydia Forsyn in the black and white dress???? Terrible. She should wear it to host visitors in her home. Nowhere near any red carpet.

    4. Mercy Johnson’s knees are black so what?! If she bleaches too the same people will talk. Na wa for naija!!!

    5. Beverley Naya – beautiful. Elegant!!!

    6. Andrea G – the Ghana chick. Always has to show us her bra. You might as well tell us the brands for her bras too jorr. Abeg. Sexy doesn’t mean showing your bra or body.

All in all, good selection for the women. Congrats to the winners!!!!

    April 13, 2015 at 12:39 pm

Love Genevieve’s look. Would ave preferred different earrings
Why is Mercy Johnson on this list? And Toke Makinwa
    And Funke Akindele?
Why is Andrea Giaccaglia’s hand behind her like she’s holding the dress into place. Didn’t it fit properly?
AY needs to clean up. That hair, the beards, ugh. Like he polished it with shoe wax.
