Same Onyeka Onwenu that performed for Abacha then, why am I not surprised?! Wherever the money is, that’s where people would flock.

By the way, Jonathan = zero charisma

In whoever we support we should think about the future of our children. Thank God these people(so called entertainers) live in Nigeria. Politicians can easily relocate to any country to spend the “loots”.

This future is very very near.

Common Nigerians are really suffering. The poverty at the grassroot is disheartening. Poor power supply, fuel scarcity, terrible roads, poor health care facilities, no portable water supply etc.

If the rich continue this way, then they should be prepared to have sleepless nights. The poor will one day feed on the rich.

May we God save us from heartless leaders. But before God saves us, may we open our eyes and mind and may we save ourselves.

The politics played by President Jonathan is quite ironical. Here is a man presiding over a nation that is currently experiencing insecurity, insurgency, civil unrest amidst great economic gloom and he has time to meet “entertainers” one more time too often. I would have expected he would spend the final days to March 28 speaking to representatives of the real sector i.e. manufacturers, agriculturists, energy, construction, telecommunication, financial services, health, education, aviation and other stakeholder of the economy to discuss the current state of the economy and the strategic plans for these sectors if reelected. I mean, these are the employers of labour en masse and the drivers of the economy, Is it not obvious that without quick intervention within the shortest possible time, the citizens of this nation would wake up to a full blown crisis.

Think about it this way, every N10,000 in your bank account today has been shrunk by 25% compared to the USDollar since the naira was devalued late last year, effectively, you have N7,500 for your N10,000 considering purchasing power. Let our people be wise and not be pawns in the hands of politicians. Nollywoood/Entertainers are very important but this is looks like theatrics and I am beginning to suspect President Jonathan suffers from denial syndrome hence his love for noise to fill his emptiness by surrounding himself with praise singers and sycophants

Did you just wake up? So you are not aware that that was the first interactive session the president held? With the business community? You have to be better informed.

I don’t even know where to begin. I watched this on tv and looked like they had fun, but that one does not even concern me. After all the fun and laughter, I pray for a good and honest leader for our country. GEJ looks like a humble guy though, at least from his body language.

    • Sigh!

      March 16, 2015 at 5:04 pm

Is humble in his body language, yet he is depleting all our savings for events like this…..

Everyone has right to who they would support but my question for these entertainers is : if my president didn’t donate money( that they even fought one another over ) to their sector or does not doles out cash to them would they be screaming this Transformation and continuity?
Also why did he take one year before consoling the families of the Immigration test with N5m and job offer and Mr. Culprit is living large? we will have a better Nigeria if each and everyone of us cuts some slack on our selfish attitude. The Nigeria of our dream will continue to be a dream if we are only concerned about oneself.

I guess we will start saying Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia were paid to attend…..let us be honest with ourselves……if Buhari attended this same kind of event, it would have been seen as Buhari bridging the gap between government and the entertainment industry by the APC supporters but now that it is Jonathan people will start saying he paid them to attend and vice versa. Jonathan has been involved in the entertainment industry since he entered office so this is not just an election thing.. When he started the YouWin programme, was there election? The YouWin awardees are now employers of labour themselves. And that can be attributed to the Jonathan Administration. I am the first to admit that he did not do as much as we expected but even if you are an APC person, if you can put your hatred or whatever you feel aside for one minute, you would see that the man made some progress. Admitting that he made some progress does not stop you from voting for whomever you want. Its fine to want change because he did not meet your expectation but when people say he didn’t do anything, i just shake my head. These insults are really unnecessary. I believe that we can get our points across without trading insults.

I wonder why all of these endorsements of the entertainment industry by the president only come up during election periods. It’s not as if he’s supporting them by building sustainable capital infrastructures that would help leverage the immediate and future aspirants of the entertainment industry. This show of failure and wastage is misplaced priority.

Nigerian Entertainment Industry like every other industries in Nigeria is growing despite the government and not because of the government. Enough of this show of shame and stop wasting our resources on vanity fares.

My own point in all this is that we have 36 states in Nigeria and all the show business as being holding in Lagos almost every week and a lot of money involve, why Lagos alone, of what impact is all this going to have in suffering Lagos, when not taking some of this event to kano Kaduna and Abuja, or is it only Lagos we have entertainers. May God save this country

even bella naija is for PDP…… i wonder how much…….. just wondering!!!!

      March 16, 2015 at 7:48 pm

BellaNaija is not “for any party”. We have ads for PDP and we have ads for APC on our site. All ads are properly invoiced with records as we do with all other advertisers. We have not received any cash or kind payment from any political party beyond that.
We regularly feature editorial features on both sides of the spectrum.

While we encourage everyone to get involved and passionate about politics in Nigeria including voting, becoming a member of a political party and even running for office, it is reckless to make false accusations.

I watched this and someone ali baba stated that giving these entertainers funds and monies is not what will develop this sector rather developing a structure that would allow them grow by themselves ,removing piracy by a structured plan in place and what is this???

If the government develops basic neccesities e.g power , these people that pirate they do this becos there is no other jobs..creation of employment, uncorrupt institutions that will catch and punish offenders without collecting bribe, prosecuting this whom are caught.

GEJ best anwer was that they should create more cinemas…………..smdh

    I have lost all hope!!!

    • anonymous

      March 17, 2015 at 10:11 am

No dear, he said ‘he would make stricter laws and penalties for offenders’ because the current penalties for offenders are too lenient.

He talked about Cinemas because it was immediate way to ensure film producers get proceeds from their works.

The reason we have had bad leaders is that we LOOOOOOVE propaganda.

    March 16, 2015 at 10:11 pm

Hello, STARGAZER, I am sure you have become rich over the Jonathan Administration, none of you family members have been kidnaped or killed. You are eating well and cheap from the agricultural sector Jonathan was said to have improved, and your family members have been given jobs. I am also guessing you have constant electricity, good water and ply good roads. You probably don’t also have a tall fence, gate or gateman and you can vouch for security. Your children or siblings have also graduated from federal universities without unnecessary strikes, and none of your relatives are in the Army that the government has not equipped well. If I am wrong in any of these then you suffer from self deceit and you are not mindful of other Nigerians who want change.

    • Douglas

      March 17, 2015 at 1:05 am

My own question to you is, if Buhari becomes president, in 4 years there would be STEADY power supply, direct employment for EVERY Nigerian youth, Boko HARAM COMPLETELY dealt with, corruption COMPLETELY dealt with. EVERY one of your family will live in a Nigeria that is heaven on earth, no problem whatsoever, our education becomes like that of the US and so on..infcat mosquitoes will stop biting us?. If your answer is a bit shaky for any of those, then you would see reasons why we will stick with GEJ that despite the shortcomings, he has done massively great and the foundation he is laying is better till someone else comes in 2019. Thank you!

Well, the Power still lies in every individual PVC!.
These people are just a small percentage of a Whole Nation. I just hope their fans/followers are wise and educated enough to know their right from their left!

So they can do numerous shows and performances ….at the expense of PUBLIC FUNDS ( which I am sure most of us have not thought through…. PS: The Treasury reportedly is LOW!)

The same artists, we literally believe and stand up for the average masses, are the ones that will invest the money in housing and education for their children abroad (in most cases).

Nigerians Be Wise! …It has been 15 years of near-mediocre democratic governance… Let us take the bull by the horn and Exercise Our Civic Right Wisely!

…as someone said -“You can change the audience, tweak the venue, change the subject even but an incompetent president won’t start answering you intelligently”
