Jesus was a friend of the gentiles, he shunned the Pharisee (e.g the overzealous pastor condemning Korede) and broke bread with the so called sinners of his time.

I find it hard that the Pastor is question is without sin but has found it in his/her heart to cast the first stone.

    Overzealousness# #itk #GodWin!

@ iphies015, every single I have came across also praise God with that same voice they use in singing worldly songs when they need him. Jennifer Hudson, Destiny’s child, Fantasia, Jessica Simpson etc all started singing in the church and they can still go the other way round. Carrie Underwood sang ” Jesus takes the wheel” and sang ” Cheated” . So there’s nothing to be confused about. After all, God blessed them all with their voice and talent..

No one is saying they shouldn’t be in the house of God. It’s just that, if you view the pulpit as sacred, you will be vigilant about who climbs the pulpit. Me, I blame the pastor not even the Korede. All have sinned but as pulpit minister, certain purification processes have to be done.

How disgraceful! We have failed! What a crime! A secular artist is busy praising God and we haven’t reported him to the ICC?!! But this is a superb crime of international standards! Why hasn’t he been sent to the Hague? Chai, we have failed!!! Didn’t we know that secular artists aren’t allowed to praise God even when he’s done great things for them? How could we allow this? Eyaaaaaaaaaaa….So all of us who enjoyed his performance and praised God with him are going to Hell?!! Chineeeeekeeeeeee!!!(in my Patience Ozorkwor voice)

ppl should stop playing God in the life of others. he can perform in church and there is nothing wrong with it. the church should be a sanctuary not a court room. is high time so called christians take the logs stuck in their eyes.
the God christians serve tells them to love their neighbours no matter who or what they do. the neighbours can be preachers, prostitutes, occultists , musicians etc.
    love and stop judging.

  8. Jay

    April 10, 2015 at 2:56 pm

This is one of those topics that will always come up…..
Please Please Please when you are likening any act or intention of anybody to that of Jesus please remember that although Jesus mixed with unbelievers, He was ALWAYS about His father’s business! There was only one agenda. He did not jump in and out of service to please people or to be accepted nor did He follow their antics in order to fit in- He led them to God at every given opportunity.
So all those calling the concern over Korede’s performance “hypocrisy” should understand that although the guy may be saved and simply sharing his testimony, to serve on the altar of God requires sanctification i.e. set apart for God’s service. Not just on Sunday but continuous living to glorify God in everything you do, everywhere you are- and as a celeb your life is more visible than that of the average civilian which makes it that much more challenging for them.

How do you know or are sure that the alter is of God? The bible says we are sanctified and attain righteousness only through grace and faith of our Lord Jesus Christ not by our self effort. So please stop being self righteous. Even when a man asked Jesus in the bible to tell his brother to share his wealth with him he asked the man who gave him to be judge over the matter. So pls we should stop judging because it will not put food on our table or take away the blessing God has given to this fellow (KB) for example. Judging has no benefit. STOP!!!!

  9. Moyo

    April 10, 2015 at 3:11 pm

Judge not so that you will not be judged, remove the log in your own eye before you remove the speck in your brother’s eye. God help us human beings, we know all these scriptures yet we are the first ones to cast the stone. Let all those without sin cast the first stone. We come to Bella Naija to judge people who don’t even know us> Na wah

  10. Chidinma

    April 10, 2015 at 3:19 pm

Does this song glorify God or not? The scripture states we should leave judgement to God.
So is it wrong to praise God for his goodness? Why do we want to silence praise? Abi the praises dey bite body!
He who has not sinned let him cast the first stone.
As long as anytime he sings, he glorifies God. I go sing the song and i go promote am. #GODWIN

    • Jay

      April 10, 2015 at 3:40 pm

This is exactly the point- one song out of how many?…A lot of people are quick to call it judging and casting the first stone but slow to see how nobody actually mentioned anything about Korede as a person- the concern is about how the Alter of God is being used. We are all free to worship and praise God irrespective of what others see of us, that’s personal and between us & God, but to minister/perform is another thing altogether.

As for me, speaking on this issue it is more out of a concern than out of condemnation.

    April 10, 2015 at 3:31 pm

They’re just being hater…how will you hear a song like #GODWIN and condemn it besides there is nothing wrong with korede performing in church he was celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that person that calls himself a pastor are you meant to judge anyone even if the person wasn’t korede you’re not meant to judge anyone it shows how much of a pastor you are anyways lots of love to korede you’ll always have my support

Testimonies are not just “talk the talk” so, if you ain’t living the Christ-life, you aint really testifying are you?
Forget what some “pastor” said, study God’s word for yourself and let him speak to you.
He created you in the absence of the pastor, didn’t he?

Jesus said “judge all matters righteously”- John 7:24, so I’m not against those that judge in good sense.
I’m not against the ‘redeemed’ pastor’s thoughts either.
Those who say “don’t judge” don’t know scripture, are hypocritical too because they’re judging the person who is judging. Get it?

To Korede Bello, I say Christianity is not a show of wealth or skill. It’s a life lived like Christ everyday, so if you want to be a Christian, repent and put your trust in the lord Jesus Christ.
Forget what the false teachers have taught you, know God for yourself.

Love includes correcting and rebuke. Hebrew 12:8.
Will you say your parents don’t love you just because they rebuke you?
If you don’t know what love means then you don’t know God, but some god you’ve made up for yourself, and that is IDOLATRY.

Yes now. ‘Special Assistant to God on Human Judgement’ – if that was meant to throw shade it missed its mark because that title is true of every Christian
1 Corinthians 6:2 – “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?”

  22. Dija

    April 10, 2015 at 5:19 pm

Ona you have spoken well. The fact that there are mixed reactions shows there is something wrong with it. The church is not for entertainment, Modern day churches are too concerned about filling up the church that they would do anything to do so. God is not concerned about numbers that’s why he gave the parables “Heaven will rejoice over ONE soul”.

These days people do not want to accept the truth. Put “God” in anything and the church will come running/dancing, meanwhile the bible has said “test every spirit” The Church/Christians are constantly looking to fit in with the world, meanwhile the bible clearly says that Jesus was persecuted and for that reason you would also be persecuted for following Him. But many Christians do not want the persecution.

@NagosBigBoi, for God, the condition is “seek me and you shall find me”.
Today is the day of salvation to anyone who chooses so, and the urgency is what true preachers like us try to make people understand.

korede ‘performed’ a song in the church
    1. is the altar a stage?
    2. did he do it as a member of the congregation or as an artiste?
    3. did he do it for worship or entertainment,
i strictly advise that the Church be treated with sanctity and sacredness. Nobody has the right to pass judgement but can correct when something dosen’t seem right.

      April 10, 2015 at 7:49 pm

Those are really important questions. Many of us are trying not to judge but we have to be concerned. Where do we draw the line? A line in the original recording talks about popping champagne. He performed same song at AY Live that same day. So the question is this -in what capacity did he sing in the church? A praise leader, a minister or a performer? The answer may provide clarification on this issue.
A church behind my house had a programme on Easter Monday. To my amazement, secular songs were played during all interludes. God help us

We all lose focus sometimes. Organisations do so too when they are trying to copy other orgs and don’t stay true to their original mission and in the end they fail. We must understand that there is a place for everything so we do not lose focus. What is the essence and purpose of the church? Is the church loosing her focus? Did the apostles of old apply any sort of gimmicks before people got saved and all.. let us not forget the lady in the scriptures who prophesied that Paul and his colleague were of God yet her inspiration was demonic. The kingdom of God is not of food or drink its in the demonstration of power, where the power of God is lacking we result to other things to keep ourselves in the mood to “Worship” him. The truth is God would not send down fire and brimstone on the church because of a worldly performance but rather it will limit HIS presence in such a place . And about hypocrisy if I may ask , when am at home on a weekend and i wear just my undies and walk around my house and then wear iro and buba on sunday to church does it make me a hypocrite? or what if i wear a bikini to my office on a monday morning will my head of HR congratulate me and say ” Young lady you have done well”? There is a place for everything, we must learn to analyse things in context and intelligently. Let a church be a church and let a club be a club. When you mix it up you dont get the proper results. Shalom

    April 10, 2015 at 8:42 pm

Who can judge and what is to be judged? 1 corinth 5:12 “What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?” A christian can judge what happens within a christian community because they are bound by the same spirit and therefore a christian can call a fellow christian to order. However, a Christian can not judge an unbeliever that is left to God. why, in a family of brothers and sisters when a sibling does wrong any member of the family has the right to call such a sibling to order and set him right back on track and do not put the family to shame. However, that same person has no right to interfere in matters outside his family.

If all judgement is left to God, why should a judge in court sentence a criminal to death or any form of penalty? By what standard does he do such or law does he operate?

So before any one says no one has the right to judge you lie. To judge means to form and opinion or estimation after a careful consideration. Every day we judge one another when we form an opinion of others based on what they have done or do. We conclude on some people to be good, bad etc. But the question should be, by what or whose standards do you form your opinion? I arrest my case, but i encourage that anyone who must state his or her case should always do so intelligently and not out of sentiments. Consider the case in a whole

    • maiden

      April 10, 2015 at 9:13 pm

Well said. Apparently, the phrase ‘Do not judge’ has been overly abused. People do not know the difference between judging and identifying a wrong or correcting/calling a person to order. Another abused chant is ‘Hypocrite’.
I guess the world prefers u see ‘evil’ and look away.

    * 7 sons of sceva mentioned “Jesus”, but were tortured by demons- Acts 19:11-20;
    * Cain’s OFFERING was REJECTED by God- Genesis 4:3-5;
    * Nadab and Abihu offered ‘strange fire’, which was punished- Leviticus 10:1-3;
    * Ananias and Sapphira’s offering was wrong, and so they were punished also- Acts 5:1-11.
So, if y’all want to disobey the fact that we need to cleanse our hearts (and lives) before we offer anything to God, be my guest!

I was a good singer/vocalist when i joined our church choir and so i felt confident that it would just be a matter of few weeks before i mount the podium and use both vibrato and falsetto to sing to the glory of God. My brothers and sisters, it wasn’t as i so confidently thought. Before i was even allowed to join others to minister on the podium, i spent many months eating, sleeping and breathing the WORD. Not until my Pastor saw i had become fully persuaded, was i allowed to LEAD worship. Ministration no be beans o. Korede you are talented, but may not be called yet for that big stage of Baba God

First of all I dont consider that Godwin song as a Christian song.I think is to show appreciation to “God”.many Christians are too superficial,it is high time you searched ur bibles, the altar is for the priest.in the bible God killed uzziah because he saw ark of covenant shaking,he wanted to prevent from falling he touched it and he wasn’t a levi and God striked him.this is the era of Grace God can use anyone to do wonders but he doesn’t joke with his altar. All dose pastors that climb the altar and still commit sin, they bring doom on themselves.I don’t think korede should perform in a church.you can say it is praising and worshippin God but is he accepting it.remember Cain’s sacrifice.
