As it is true with all successful off-plan real estate sales, the right composition of location, quality, price and timing is essential. The management of Sujimoto made good on this front and reaffirmed the common knowledge that a great product, in this case real estate, will always sell itself irrespective of dwindling economic fortunes, as there will always be a demand for quality accommodation, especially a building positioned to be the tallest residential in Lagos, located on the prestigious Bourdillon Road.

The LorenzoBySujimoto XII-XII-VI event hit a home-run and sales are off to a great start with 19 of the first batch of 22 units sold out. The event which was widely represented by thought leaders and the crème de la crème from different sectors of the industry, Sunny & Betty Irabor, Sally Mbanefo (Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC)); A-List musician, D’Banj made a surprise appearance and showed great interest in the project. Nkiru Anumudu, Muri Tukur, and legendary actor Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) were amongst other notable Nigerians.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Gbolahan Lawal commended Sujimoto for their innovative project which according to him will change the face and skyline of Lagos.

He noted that for such a young company to have made such a monumental achievement in such a short while is very laudable. He also added that the state government will continue to do its best to support forward thinking organizations like Sujimoto Construction, by providing an enabling environment for private investors to thrive.

Speaking at the grand unveiling ceremony, Sijibomi Ogundele (Managing Director of Sujimoto), said that the company visited more than 40 buildings in Lagos and Abuja, traveled across three continents in search of quality and inspiration.

We went to Dubai and saw the beauties of Downtown, traveled to Tokyo to the prestigious suburbs of Ginza and visited some penthouses in Manhattan, New York. We have learnt from the best and we know that the world belongs to those who create something rare, and not the norm, those who go the extra mile; those who think big, and build big.

Nigerians will forever remember the 12th of December as the night a young real estate company – Sujimoto Construction, set a high standard by raising the bar in luxury real estate.

What is foremost in my mind watching this video – The Emperor’s New Clothes. The things that they can use to “bobo” Nigerians sha. Controlling your appliances on your phone have been around since which year. The homes of regular folks in the West use this and it isn’t a big deal. In Nigeria, it will come with a 5 billion price tag. Temperature controlled water, wait let me call my folks in Florida to give more details. As for the luxury kwa, even with CGI images, it doesn’t scream luxury to me o, more like the resorts in Sharm el Sheikh, and not the 5 star kinds. Maybe Nigerian standard luxury sha because penthouses in New York look waaaaaaaaaaaay better than that, the Trump tower apartments for example, and dollar for dollar, this place will cost 50 times more. That is how a 600M home looks like something even Barrats will finish to a better standard of quality. Well done Siji, carry go for bros. If you can sell sand to people in a desert, I say more power to you. I will not run down anyone’s hustle, but enough of the wash abeg. The people who can afford this know it is wash, because they will have seen better or even own better, but sha, they must have property in “the lorenzo”. That is how the Alara building costs……… add a B to to the end price tag and one will wonder what the “luxury” is all about.

While I agree that this is all wash, these facilities are a luxury in Nigeria, hence the price tag. All this comparison of America to Nigeria is completely unnecessary. The important thing is we are moving in the right direction in terms of technology and the rest. As of now, this is the in-thing in Africa. It would eventually become obsolete but as of now, it is worth the price tag to these investors. Plus you have to take the location into consideration. It is Ikoyi.
And about how the CEO got the money, I read a bit on his background. He was a venture capitalist. He would definitely know a thing or two about raising capital and building businesses. He has probably worked hard to build an investor base who fund these projects. I think he should be lauded for being entrepreneurial in this age where a lot of people are waiting to be handed jobs.
He seems like the real deal to me.
Instead of criticism maybe we can all learn something about how this man developed a successful business in Nigeria at his age.

Many will think you are a hater for this statement but you have spoken the truth. This building i guarantee you will never be showcased in any building publication outside Nigeria. He is proposing luxury when the rest of the world are proposing building usage efficiency. CO2 tracking, natural light and natural ventilation usage, building that produce their own energy. Its really sad people capitalize on Nigeria’s design and engineering ignorance.

”Dbanj made a surprise appearance and took great interest in the project” – Abeg tell Banga Lee to shift. He has not finished paying off his debt yet.

Sujimoto has really hustled to the top but I need to know his backers before I put him on my list of idols. Any Arab investment he got was definitely not at ground level. Only few ever know the true story. Regardless though, he has done well. There is a lot of money in Lagos and I won’t be surprised if the units sell out but we can’t verify that. After all, there are so many empty luxury flats in Lagos.

Actually, the most sought after street in Nigeria is not Bourdillon in Ikoyi. It is Aso drive in Maitama. But of course a lot of us who live in lagos do not have a clue about anything else outside Lagos. Moving on, this seems very nice. the model of the building does look interesting. Would be nice if you named your buildings with African names/inspiration. Afterall it is in lagos and targeted at the Nigerian market. If its going to have a tourism appeal to it it would be nice to make name it something african. Just a thought.

They should have taught the dude doing the voice over how to pronounce Ikoyi now. Lol

    – I wonder how the new tight controls on forex will affect this project.
    – I wonder how the fear of buhari’s corruption probe will affect buyers interest.
    – I wonder how many residents will be brave enough to swim in that 17th floor pool (we are Nigerians afterall)
-I wonder if staff will be foreign or local
    – I wonder who is providing financial backing.

    A few wonders of mine.

CALL ME A HATER – I AM A NATIONALIST -UTTER NONSENSE !! – Lorenzo ke! Lorenzo ni. See these are the things that get my blood boiling. I am not trying to hate on anyone’s hustle BUT tell me how this will help the nation. Wealth in this country is not being spread out and TRUSTTTTT ME at this rate , the robberies are going to get RAMPANT. In this 21st century where we cannot even boast of good roads, a functioning health system and the likes…. We are here building buildings in the name of one family that lived in Florence during the early renaissance(yes I know my art history) – na wa for us oh. These are buildings or apartments (finished with substandard materials from China) that most people who need housing the most in Lagos and Nigeria will not be able to afford. It’s the same old vicious cycle and it continues- who are those going to buy these properties? – government officials, the foreigners that are slowly but surely overtaking Nigeria (yes I said it), and yes “the high and mighty “in our society. And then the apartments will be exclusive and rented out in dollars when our currency is naira and it goes on and on.
Nothing will ever be equal in this world but the gap between the haves and the have nots in Nigeria is too wide- and this impedes true development. God open our eyes and let us all be responsible in this country so if we are ever put in a place of authority and power we will lead with VISION TO BUILD OUR NATION. BN postttt my comment oh. My 2 cents

God bless you june. Dont mean to hate o but sujimoto who are you fronting for? Who is the target audience of your luxury apts. Cant be the average nigerian. Only thieves can afford this i just dont get it..a country where majority of the population earn under a dollar a day…even in these trying times you say units are sold out….i am so struggling to comprehend this . If this is ill gotten wealth then God is undergoing a wealth transfer so that people who truly deserve to have it will so beware…. prov 13:22 the country is broke you are talking luxury woh 2016 is the time for basic

Seeing projects like this make me feel that a lot of Nigerians have no regard for urban planning codes. To a lot of people, it is just about the money, so they can deface any residential area with any concrete monstrosity their funds can put up.

Bourdillon Road used to be one of the most serene, peaceful and orderly areas in old Ikoyi. In those days, most plots consisted of detached houses and semi-detached duplexes sitting on an acre of land, with well-manicured gardens, borders of flowers and lots of trees. In the 80s, the fences were wire mesh types which gave way to high concrete fences, as security deteriorated and became an issue of concern.

Today the peaceful ambience of Bourdillon is gradually being destroyed by high-rise buildings that do little or nothing for the environment, as more trees and foliage are uprooted daily to make way for these concrete complexes. Worse still, is that most of the premises of these high-rise buildings end up looking cramped, by the time all the flats are occupied and each tenant/occupant parks their 2, 3 or 6 cars/ SUVs, in every available parking lot they can find.

Slowly but surely the money bag developers have conspired to destroy my old neighbourhood, and the town planning authorities have helped them in their quest to circumvent building codes and authorised layouts. Tomorrow, we will wake up and wonder why so many districts in our cities are so chaotic. It is sad.

There are two categories of people who will comment on this post. Some will hate on him and some will be inspired by him. If you are inspired, you will work harder n pray you join the few on top. If you are hating, you will be negative to him and the problems of the country will cloud your attitude and you start repelling the wealth you should have attracted hence you join majority of the people in the downhill. Choose your side. The problem is not the problem but your thought about the problem.
