It’s only ibo people that I know that grows hair out of their forehead….Kilode? can I get some of that please?

      -sincerely, edgeless sister ?

Lol, speaking as a full hair-edged Ibo sister 🙂 I can boldly say that the reason we have such hair is because, customarily speaking we don’t braid tight weaves as much as yorubas do.
We can plait our hair but most of our traditional or indigenous hair styles do not pull the front edges of our hair. We actually make a calculated attempt to include “brush” in our weaving and even plaiting with thread as in was in the olden days.

And so the tradition continues. We see it as a part of facial beauty, to have complete or full frontal hair at the edges and we make very conscious effort to keep the hair that way!.

      Hope this helps!

The bride is not Igbo though, she’s from Akwa-Ibom

@Anonymous, she was just answering the question about why Ibo women have full frontal hair and not whether or not the bride is Ibo. And you may be entertained to realise that a lot of Ibo and Akwaibom tradition are similar! All are south-easterners! From Aba to Akwaibom is 15mins drive! If you choose, you can even walk it in 1 hour
      So chill!

“customarily speaking we don’t braid tight weaves as much as yorubas do.” What an incredibly stupid comment and unnecessary generalisation. I’m Igbo but majority of my friends with extremely long hair are either Hausa and Yoruba. Plus you cannot even generalise like that. I’m Igbo and I make tight braids so it doesn’t follow.
By the way, the bride is not Igbo.

Olanma you are too bitter! Drink Coke and calm down! your comment is full of unwarranted energy!

Seems you walked a lot in the hot sun before trying your comment. Abeg drink cold water or even coca-cola, it will help you. When you are calmer you can come back and comment.

I doubt you are even an Ibo person. LOL! hehehehe!

You’re such a hater….you’re probably so bitter because you’re a failure in life. Women abeg, let’s uplift each other instead of judging each other. The Anna girl seems like a nice, lovely girl, your comment is so mean & uneccessry ?

    • Californiabawlar

      February 5, 2016 at 10:00 pm

But I’m a woman who doesn’t agree with her choices….why should I uplift her? What has she done that’s upliftable? Lol! I’m just saying o! This crap about being bitter or being a hater everytime someone is being pretentiously nice is so silly and dumb….sorry to say. You guys don’t want to hear truth…when you have a young child keep uplifting all their choices okay? You’ll be grandma of many nations in no time.
My own style is not to comment most times! But people can feel free to make Anna a scapegoat in my opinion, a lot of young girls out there might learn a thing or two!

Anna is not so beautiful she is okay. You cannot compare her to the bride who is gorgeous. I have always said this she is not beautiful at all.
