Vogue gives Taylor Swift a New Look for their May 2016 Cover

US Vogue announced today that singer and first woman in history to win a Grammy for album of the year twice, Taylor Swift is their cover girl for their next May 2016 issue and this would be her third time as the magazines cover girl. Sporting a different look, Taylor debuts a wavy platinum bob wearing a different style of clothes than what she’d usually be seen in.

While speaking on the Today Show, Vogue’s editor Anna Wintour said “We very much wanted to give Taylor a new look, make her into a sort of a rock n’ roll chick“, and that they did.

She’s seen on the cover in a pair of sky-high, platform boots by Vetements with a a sparkly Saint Laurent mini by Hedi Slimane, which Wintour explains is a tribute to the designer who just stepped down as creative director of the fashion house (click here if you missed it).

With the MET Gala coming up with Taylor as co-chair Anna says she’s “thrilled that it’s Taylor Swift, who’s my co-chair this year at the Met Gala”, the theme for this year’s Met Gala is “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” and it clearly a prominent theme in this shoot.

Anna goes on to say, “We were also very aware of the rumors circulating at the time that Hedi Slimane the great designer of Yves Saint Laurent might be stepping down from his post so we wanted to do an homage to Hedi on the cover,” she said. “But we love the way she looks, we think she looks young and modern and different and I can’t wait to see what she’s going to wear on May 2″.
