BN Travel: #JoziWithGoogle – Day 5! Tuke Morgan’s Experience at the First Ever YouTube Africa Awards + the After-Party was LIT
Hi guys,
Tuke Morgan here again 🙂
So I’m writing this from the comfort of my bed in Lagos, going through the pictures and reminiscing on an amazing couple of days in Jozi.
The First Ever Youtube Creator Awards in Africa held on the 11th of November at The Tin Factory in Johannesburg.
We were greeted by a smiling hostess who gave us wrist tags based on our purpose – social media, client, goolger, creator, VIP or guest.
Pictures were taken with the YouTube media wall and then we proceeded inside for drinks and canapé’s before the ceremony began.
Capetown-based Nigerian Keytarist, Jaye Keyz started the night on a high with his covers of Uptown Funk, Mario Theme Song, Sesame street theme song, the South African National Anthem and other exciting tunes.
Then, the hosts for the night, South African Youtuber & Video Game Personality, Grant Hinds and Ghanaian Actress from “An African City”, Maame Adjei came up on stage.
Youtube Creators from all around Africa like Sisi Yemmie, Theodora Lee and Calvyn Justus announced the nominees of the various award categories and presented awards between performances.
There was an orchestra run by Tanzanian Hekima Raymond.
Female Tanzanian Superstar, Vanessa Mdee performed two of her most popular songs. Timaya got the crowd moving with many ladies joining him on stage to show off their dance moves.
Fena Gitu, also known as @fena_menal closed the show with 2 of her hit tracks.
Pictures were taken as the show ended and then we all proceeded to the next building for the after party. There was food, ice-cream and drink in abundance.
The 4-year-old DJ, DJ Arch Jnr showed us a thing too.
Everyone was happy that the YouTube awards were a success. Major shout out to the 4 Nigerian Brands who won awards. Check out the list of winners here.
After we danced the night away, we proceeded to our hotels to pack and get ready for our flight the next day.
That’s it for me, hope you enjoyed following me along as I explored #JoziWithGoogle 🙂
