The 2016 Governors Awards held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom on Saturday (November 12) in Hollywood.
The event was star-studded and attended by Naomie Harris, Lupita Nyong’o, Ruth Neega, Nicole Kidman, Jonah Hill, Richard Gere, Janelle Monae, Common, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Chan, Tom Hanks, Chris Tucker, Ryan Reynolds, Casey Affleck, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, Meagan Good, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo and more.
Jackie Chan won an honorary Oscar that evening after his decades-long career saw him in over 200 films. During his acceptance speech, Jackie talked about admiring Sylvester‘s Oscar statue during a visit in the past.
He said, “I touched it, kissed it, smelled it. I believe it still has my fingerprints on it…Then I talked to myself, ‘I really want one.’ Finally, [Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs] called and I said, ‘Are you sure?’ I want to thank all my fans around the world because you’re the reason I continue to make movies, jumping through windows, kicking and punching [and] breaking my bones. Thank you so much!”
