BN Beauty: Meet the 38 Gorgeous Contestants representing their States at the 2016 Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant

The 40th edition of the Miss Nigeria pageant is almost here and they have unveiled the thirty-eight contestants who will represent the rich heritage of the thirty-six states in Nigeria plus the FCT. Other activities planned for camp are courtesy/facility visits, the international beach soccer courtesy of PowerHorse, and mentorship by a renowned WIMBIZ member, amongst others.

These selected contestants will be Judged based on the following criteria; punctuality, etiquette, daily tasks and also the Green Girl challenge.

Sharon, blessing,Joy,Cordelia,Anna very beautiful names but what happened to tribal names chioma ,Ene,Ngufan and the list goes on. I think we should start bearing, giving cultural names as first names maybe only names . You are supposedly going to represent Nigeria and you are bearing an English name as your first name ???Nigerian parents have a lot of mindset adjustment to do. who says there is no translation of Joy in igbo, igala, ikwere etc we need to harness the habit of being proud of who we are and where we have our roots .

    • Shao

      December 17, 2016 at 8:46 am

English is part of your history, your culture.
Try as you may, you cannot erase that!

Yes I have an English name, does not make me less Nigerian or a less-proud-Nigerian. I’m living abroad and can’t wait to tell people that I’m Nigerian and I’m doing us proud in my career.

What about those drug dealers, fraudsters etc caught abroad with Nigerian names? You see how having cultural names doesn’t make a proud or good Nigerian.

Hey, me too!!! Who says a girl can’t be Elijah….or Xerxes for that matter?

    • sam

      December 16, 2016 at 12:16 pm

    December 16, 2016 at 11:07 am

The only beautiful girls I see here are from Zamfara and Rivers state.

  12. A

    December 16, 2016 at 11:19 am

Miss Nigeria is actually not about physical beauty. It’s not a top criteria. We have MBGN for that.

    • Loki

      December 16, 2016 at 11:24 am

Oh really? What’s it about then? I always thought it was a beauty pageant. Then again, I’ve never actually watched a contest. What are the criteria?

    • A

      December 16, 2016 at 11:38 am

Your ability to represent the country with intelligence, poise and morality. You have to portray exemplary qualities and serve as a role model for young women in the country.MBGN focuses mainly on physical attributes while Miss Nigeria promotes a wholesome girl next door image, combining vintage glamour with modern elegance. The Miss Nigeria swimsuit competition was scrapped but still remains popular at MBGN. MBGN winners become representatives at international pageants while Miss Nigeria acts as a cultural ambassador.

  23. sam

    December 16, 2016 at 12:30 pm

Really looking forward to seeing who emerges the winner……My top5 pick would be Bayelsa/Benue/Rivers/Pleateu/Anambra…..Kwara looks to old, Kaduna too serious, Ekiti shouldn’t even bother, send her home, Kano has a crooked smile that I don’t trust, Cross River and Ebonyi are okay……I think……Lagos looks very unserious, does she think this is a joke?…….I’m disappointed in the choice for Edo to say the least…..We have finer girls than that lady abeg……Goodluck to all of ’em…My money is on Miss Bayelsa though….There’s something about her that I can’t figure out…..A misery if you like…..Lemme take a look at her pic once more.Cheers!!!!…..

It went ooooooon! Like deep down voices, noisy n rowdy crowd echoing ddn accompanied wft millions n billion applause screaming for d new face of ‘naija’. I also saw d hills of her shoes like a metal made of gold. Elegance was at its peak n everyone was lost at a moment in an atmosphere filled wft high expectation to the new face of their own Miss naija who cld take on d rest of d world soon like has never been done for d first time. I cld remember. Song by Ayo Jay ft Chris Brown & Kid Ink “Your Number” was rolling slowly as d fireworks began. Cheery crowd bursted in euphoria as she posed. Grin of elegance, flair of beauty saturated all d entire arena wft her fragrance steps to the throne of beauty. As she started, hair at d back of the ear suddenly rose to an elevation. The music paused, silence became alive in seconds like a guiding angel passing through down d walkway as she walked briskly slowly wft passion on her hills; nothing but d sounds of her hills “kus,….. Kus!,…. Kus!!!” emanating to d eardrum of her audience. Finally, she post in a second, wft a hilarious standing ovation; everywhere was highly spirited, screaming as she basked in a glorious walkway to unveiling her constituency. Then saw d handwriting on d air written…….. B, then I saw E, attached wft N and U which I cld see d last letter clearly and then I heard someone screammmmm Misssssss……. Alas my eyes became cleared that it was a dream. Uuusshh!
