“Anyone who supports Chiwetalu Agu’s persistent use of vulgar language has little or no moral foundation” – Tony One Week

Tony One Week

Comedian and Musician, Tony One Week has reacted to Chioma Akpotha calling out Gideon Okeke for criticising Chiwetalu Agu‘s vulgarity in movies.

Gideon had said that Agu’s vulgarity is becoming too much and the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has to do something about it.

Chioma reacted, saying Okeke lacks respect and morals, and it’s none of his (Okeke’s) business how Agu delivers his craft.

Tony One Week has weighed in on the issue, saying “anyone who supports Chiwetalu Agu’s persistent use of vulgar language has little or no moral foundation”.

Like Chief Zebrudaya will say “Fafafaaaaa…. Fowl”. I read that Gideon condemned Chiwetalu Agu’s vulgarity in movies and actress Chioma rebuked Gideon. And I ask: For what? The young man simply stated the very obvious. Famous actor Chiwetalu Agu’s lines can be very irritating. Truth be told. The guy can talk nonsense.

And overtime, his nonsense has moved from being funny to annoyingly irresponsible. It’s high time someone told him that he is no longer funny. How can u say a vulgar word or sentence and repeat it from the beginning to the end of the movie every time u appear? A movie ideally should have a positive message even as it entertains. What is educative about vulgar statements? Is the intention to corrupt or destroy? I support Gideon 100%.

Agu should be more responsible abeg. Does he have children? D guy is is a good actor but in recent times too unnecessarily vulgar bro. Can I forget “Igwe ejee nga”?. That’s vintage Ogwu in Taboo speaking clean but very apt and entertaining. What he says these days are almost demonic. The worst is the repetition. Must every uselessly vulgar line be repeated like three four times in a scene and then in all the scenes he appears in a movie. Haba. I blame producers for d repetition.

Most of our movies these days are scriptless. No script. No story. That’s why every actor says what he likes in d name of comedy. And to think they believe they are making us happy when they actually make us angry most times? Honestly, anyone who supports Chiwetalu Agu’s persistent use of vulgar language has little or no moral foundation.

Who is talking about censorship here? Are movies censored in Nigeria? How do they regulate who buys the DVDs meant for adults when children sell them? Common… everybody watches everything jare. ‘Nwoke na akoghelizi akogheli’ (meaning Chiwetalu Agu talks anyhow) and it ain’t funny any more than it’s destructive.

Our movie producers must upgrade to using proper solid stories to sell movies and not vulgar repetitive sentences. Up Gideon. Down Chioma. I respect Chioma’s person and I am shocked that a mother like her will condemn Gideon for condemning the unguarded immorality being unleashed on society by Chiwetalu Agu. #Moralityiskey

Chiwetala Agu, you are an amazing actor, but I think you should have a rethink about certain things you say in movies since almost everyone is lambasting you. But what about the kissing scenes, the semi-nude scenes, the use of vulgarities, etc. in Nollywood movies? As Tony One Week rightly points out everybody watches everything jare. It can be done, but it would be difficult to monitor what our kids watch. I see more actors coming in defence of Agu and vice versa.

It’s plain and simple as day and night. Chioma Chukwuka has NO values. Supporting something vile that’s so plain to see, I wonder how she raises her children. When people who seemingly have a voice speak up and use the voice to propagate foolishness like “you can’t talk to your elders this way” in the face of the elders erring, I just know there is NO HOPE for our future generation. I tell you, these ones will see their kids selling their bodies and ask them, “Nne, how market”?

Take your directors and producers to task. Take the censor board to task. But no, that’s too much work.

What’s with the sanctimonious talk?? Who forced u to watch his movies? Thee censors board ought to do a better job and parents or guardians. Need to do the hardwork of monitoring what kids watch. These same people watch foreign reality shows n movies with worse profanity. Oooh because it’s in English makes it tolerable? Chinwetalu Agu is a darn fine actor. Ama Ndi aneze na 2017 kwa

no new story again, maybe because of recessions. lol. Tony ibu idiotic idiot. ?. Chinwe discovered that the supposed comedy movies ain’t funny anymore so he tried and found a way to upgrade it#kudos. I read Tony is a comedian, why the fight? Thank God for Emmanuella, Johnny and co. if the jokes of other comedians are no longer getting on you Pls try the aforementioned. so is he trying to tell me that corrupt children in the family are victims of Chinwe’s line? Mehn fuck off. there are things we are fed up with that some people just started to fall in love with so Tony if you have heard enough just respectfully close your ears and stop creating scene. Tony I wanna see you on stage @AYliveShow on Easter, go get your lines ready cos I will laff like madt regardless of how destructive… Tony you are right and wrong at the same time #datsdproblem

Im so happy someone has thrown more light on this issue. Papa Chiwetalu is becoming boring with his vulgar words. Gideon had a point but out of respect for a fellow co worker, it should have come open on social media. As for Choima maybe many must have misinterpretted her but i thing she is trying to say Gideon should respect elders. She thinks there is a way to talk to our elders as far as our african culture is concern.

I read he’s a comedian/musician. Sorry Oga children should be watch cartoons and do their school work. Both you and your so called Gideon are supposed to be nursing your dead careers and see how u can better ur lives in the industry. I haven’t seen u in any stand-up comedy show neither have I seen u in any nollywood reasonable comedy drama. Chiwetalu Agu is the man any day meeen… Heard you are a musician living in past glory of just one album that is full of vulgar words since over 20yrs ago, hmmm bros how market in the music industry? Flavour or wizkid will be pleased to sign you to their record label… Nna mechiegi that your boring mouth and respect Chiwetalu Agu.

Tony One Week, don’t come with your “holier than thou attitude.”

everyone have their own uniqueness in the acting world.

Your Nigerian movies characters are known to be moral men.

Please go back and watch “oke ochicho” and “your director character” in the Nigerian movie with Stella Damasus and RMD, or your Nigerian movie character with Ann Njemanze
