Go and register to vote - Banky W reacts to President Buhari's Youth Comments - BellaNaija

Banky W

Banky W has reacted to the comments made by President Muhammadu Buhari on the attitude of the Nigerian youth.

Buhari, while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum, had said a lot of youths in Nigeria want to sit around and do nothing.

Banky W shared a short clip of the president speaking on his Instagram, and asked that whatever Nigerians think about what the president said, the important thing is to go out and vote during the 2019 elections.

He asked that people go and register to get their permanent voters card (PVC). He wrote:

So apparently, this is what our President thinks about the Nigerian youth.
What do you guys think?

I have a suggestion. Whether you agree, or disagree with the President’s comments, this time, do a little bit more than posting, commenting, retweeting, and complaining. Go and register to vote.

I’ve sat in countless meetings, seminars, conferences and hangouts with young people. We are always great at pointing out our issues.. but the truth is that we can sit around and complain from now until Kingdom come. IT WILL NOT MATTER. INEC will not count your tweets. Let’s turn the month of May into #PVCMay.
Even if you don’t know who you’re voting for.. even if you hate every single candidate. At least register.. so that if someone comes along who you feel compelled to support, you can.
If you’re really serious about wanting Nigeria to be a better place, go and register to vote. Get your PVC asap. The registration period will end LONG before the elections come, so if you think you can wait until next year, you are wrong.

Get your PVC today. Or don’t bother complaining about anything, because it won’t matter. Your tweets will not count. Your vote will.

Look Banky W. I saw and listened to th e news, Mr President did not say anything bad, that you people should take it over the top and come out and condem his speech. His childern are all youths in Nigeria or not, so how can he then condem the youth of Nigeria? Some of You Nigerians public people should know better. If I may ask you, which of the party do you what them to vote for? For me this President and his party are doing very well for the Nation. Why don´t you as a public person tellsome of our youthwho turn to crime to stop crime in our schools and other criminal activities across Nigeria, that is what you should be doing. This Party APC is doing very well Look at Lagos!!!! God bless Nigeria in Christ Jesus Amen.

All Banky is doing is encouraging people to vote so what problem do you have with that. And by the way,Lagos is still a chaotic dump.. Do you have steady electricity in Lagos? What of water supply? Good road network? Good policing? Why are you using Lagos as an example of good governance?
I supported Mr President but he will go down in history as the worst President Nigeria ever had, mark my words.

No Leader goes on the world stage to berate the youth of his country. Regardless of whether or not his children are youth. The fact that this is even his thought process is the worrisome thing- As a man thinks, so is he…. as such he does not think much of the youth, so how will he enact policies to help them?.

…”The people saddled with leadership responsibilities, are the one’s doing well in this case and not the APC as a political party…
The obvious truth is, PMB is not only administratively incompetent, he is is totally confused of what democratic governance entails. He is rather not a ‘half’ failure, but, a complete one at that. And come February 2019, we (Nigerians) will retire him to his Daura-Katsina abode”!-Mr. T.J. Eghaghe, Italy.

@Tracy Edward, pls tell me what you mean by doing well.. Is it the heaps of refuse on most of our major roads that you call doing well? Infact, I supported this govt. especially PMB before he was elected but without any form of sentiment, I regret it seriously. A govt. that blames everyone for its glaring failures & incompetence. This is the worst president Nigeria ever had. To my fellow youths, pls go get your PVC.

Sadly, most of the social media warriors cannot vote because Nigerians in diaspora, mostly southerners, do not vote!

Get your PVC and vote for who? Anybody but Buhari I guess. Unfortunately, this will not solve the problem. We have an institutional mess and terrible orientation as a country. We need to replace all the 379 house of rep members, 103 senators, 36 governors, 90% of the current judges and put politicians on minimum wage. Then , the competent people who really love Nigeria will participate in politics and we will see genuine change. Sadly, the percentage of Nigerians that can make informed choices devoid of ethnic, tribal or religious sentiments about their leaders is very low. We will be stuck with mediocrity for a while. Don’t be surprised if Nigerians vote for Donald Duke next year simply because he is handsome. Majority of the current youths are that myopic. Duke has no remarkable achievement as a governor for 8 years besides the moribund white elephant Tinapa project. But what do I know. The youths Voted for Efe (BBN) because he is humble. They voted GEJ in 2011 because he is supposedly humble and had a “lucky” story. We vote for stupid reasons in Nigeria. I am sure we will vote another mediocre in 2019 with all the get your PVC noise. BN, if you like delete my comment, you are part of the problem.
