He shared: “The Kaduna State Government has declared free education for all female students in Public Secondary Schools in Kaduna state. This is aimed at getting rid of the hindrances to girl-child education. The free Basic Education Policy in the state for every child remains.”

    Good start!

But (particularly given the state of education in the North) it should be extended to ALL kids (female and male), and better yet be made compulsory up to the age of 16 or 18 years!

Lawd! Amazing. One of the few people in government that actually understand and acts for children and the girl child. I also think this needs to include monthly period packs for girls so they don’t miss school. 10-30yrs down the line we will start having strong female doctors and engineers from kaduna and some penny will drop.

Affirmative action – An action favouring those who tend to suffer from discrimination; positive discrimination. I hope this works as it should remove any financial barrier towards allowing the girls child from getting an education.
