“To err is human, to forgive is divine” – Senator Elisha Abbo apologises for Assaulting Woman | WATCH

Senator Elisha Abbo, representing Adamawa North district, has apologised after being caught on camera assaulting a woman.

A video released by Premium Times on Tuesday showed the senator physically assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop, after she told him, “Take it easy.”

After his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), released a statement condemning his actions, and the Senate began an investigation into the assault, the senator this evening held a press conference apologising.

He’s not known for being violent, he said in the press conference. He asked that Nigerians forgive him.

Mr Senator, unfortunately you still don’t get the point…there is absolutely no justification for what you did, what kind of apology is this? You must either think we are ignorant or that you are above the law. This is not hear say o, we watched the video and heard the conversation. You assaulted a woman at her place of work for saying oga abeg take it easy, haba Mallam…you come dey claim ambassador for Christ, which Christ be that? My own Jesus no beat anybody o.
In any case, like I always say to my 8 year old son, I forgive you but you still have to face the consequences of your actions.
Mallam face the consequences of your actions, let others learn from your mistake. The next person may want to ask their escort to shoot…maybe he will think twice.
This power was given to you by the people to serve them not to trample over them…

Let’s see what will ultimately happen in this case that clearly HAS VIDEO EVIDENCE against this idiot. And yes, I want to hear specifically from those shaming rape victims for coming out to share their experience with Biodun. What will you do in this case that clearly has evidence of PHYSICAL ABUSE?????????? Hypocritical lots. And the idiot himself has the gut to claim “to err is human”, and some people will support him. Something shitty is really wrong with our minds and how we reason.

I don’t understand how we as a country continue to shift the goal post and apply blatant double standards when men perpetrate their evil. As someone said on Twitter, it is apparent that young women did not inherit the silence of their mothers, and young men who want to emulate their fathers and continue status quo shenanigans don’t know how to handle this new wave. They better WAKE THE HELL UP! Ladies continue speaking YOUR TRUTH!!!!!!!

Lol… conference just to read out apologies. I thought the young lady was visited and the senator was made to apologize in person. Anyway, na this one we see and I am happy this was brought out but we all know this is a common occurrence in some Nigerian homes- Madam slapping the maids, Oga hitting the driver etc I had one very wicked neighbor that was reported to have mixed detergent and water for her maid to drink as punishment (Who the hell are you that cannot be offended, are you God?!!)
Any form of violence should not be tolerated- kids should be taught not to be violent towards anyone and not to accept any form of abuse.
And bdw, It is not just because she is a woman-, he was simply violent!

There must be justice in our land. Enough of the violence!!! Oga Senator step down and pay damages! We need lawyers to sue this guy. Lack of self discipline. You are not fit to represent us. And the policemen and other men who stood looking, shame on you. Let there be justice!!!
