It seems like it has been a long while since our last BN Red Carpet Fab. If we are not mistaken, it was the glorious Face of Africa 2010 Finale which was held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Now we are back in Lagos, coincidentally the MBGN 2010 Finale was also held at the same venue, the new event centre at the Eko Hotels & Suites. Will it keep up the style momentum?
Scroll down to find out!

At the 2010 MBGN, the trend was full on glam! Lots of evening gowns, short sparkly dresses, metallic hues and bright colours. Some it wrong by trying too hard, some guests got it right and looked fab. Keep reading..let’s go there!

__________________________________________________________________________________________
Not many people can pull off wearing a body con dress in a bright colour but up-and-coming singer, ChiDynma does just that in this long purple bandage dress. ChiDynma performed the National Anthem at the event so added extra elements of drama such as bright red lipstick, a curly faux-hawk and dramatic lashes to amp up her outfit even more for the stage.

ChiDynma

We are excited! Why? We’ve always loved Omowunmi Akinnifesi‘s style but have been hoping that she would shed some of the beauty queen “prim and properness” on the red carpet. Omowunmi gets it right in this beautiful Jewel by Lisa dress, the dress has a sexy lace top with a dipped back and sequined mini-peplum by the waist, it then flares out with a full ankara skirted bottom. We love this even more cause she ditches her usual shoulder-length curls for a modern updo. Thumbs up!

Omowunmi Akinnifesi

It was a beauty queen parade on the MBGN 2010 red carpet. The 2 personas of Munachi Abii met on the red carpet – we got the rockette rapper chick from her two-toned half shaved hair and we got the beauty queen from her gold and black halter neck evening dress which matched the colours of her hair. We like this cause its a representation of Muna’s unique style. We could have liked a smile to brighten up the look though!

Munachi Abii

MBGN Co-Host Jasmine Murray-Bruce looked beautiful on the red carpet in a purple evening gown. Her strapless dress was embellished with crystals and the ruffled train added even more omph to the look.

Jasmine Murray-Bruce

Yvonne Ekwere, the host of Silverbird’s popular entertainment show “E-Weekly” was dressed in a bright pink asymmetrical evening dress. With a  bejeweled shoulder clasp, sheer top panel and sweetheart neckline, the dress stood out on the red carpet. Her hair was also dramatic, so were the earrings.

Yvonne "Vixen" Ekwere

As we mentioned earlier, almost all the recent beauty queens were out on the red carpet. MBGN 2002 Chinenye Ochuba-Akinlade made per first public appearance in  a while at the event. We have to give her kudos ’cause she is a new mum and still looks svelte and pretty in her thin-strapped evening dress.

Chinenye Ochuba-Akinlade

House of Nwocha designer, Ugonna Omeruo is known for her bold red carpet style. Ugonna is not afraid of bright colours, bold shapes and statement accessories. We got all the elements of her trademark look at MBGN. She was in sharp-shouldered knee-length jewel green dress paired with gold and green accessories.

Ugonna Omeruo

Now that she has made a name for herself as an image and PR consultant, many forget that Ifeoma Williams was once a beauty queen. She was Miss Lux several years ago and has lost none of her shine. She kept things simple but modern in a draped black jumpsuit.

Ifeoma Williams

Hmm, that was what we said when we spotted this look on the red carpet. We can count on one hand the number of people who would brave this look on the red carpet. This backless halter sheath dress is not for the fainthearted. She pulls it off though.

We like this ivory evening dress. Simple with a great fit.

What did we say? Yup. Beauty Queen parade. We really loved Agbani’s look in a draped purple dress which we’ve actually spotted on the international red carpet. The look and colour fits her frame.

Agbani Darego

MBGN 2009, Glory Chukwu saved the best for last. This is arguably the best red carpet look she has delivered all through her reign. The embellished golden draped dress is fitting for her farewell.

Glory Chukwu

MBGN Universe 2008, Stephanie Oforka was bright and bold in her strapless yellow dress. Her look was accessorized with a red belt and long flowing locks.

Stephanie Oforka

STV Presenter & News Anchor Adaure Achumba glowed in her bronze ruffled dress. Matching accessories and red lips completed the look.

Adaure Achumba

Renny Akande was dressed in red babydoll  Jewel by Lisa dress. She paired the dress with black strappy sandals.

Renny Akande

BellaNaija.com Features Editor, Glory Edozien looked beautiful in a layered pink empire waist dress. The dress was layered with a delicate black overlay and embellished with butterfly motifs. We love the swept up hair and gold accessories.

Glory Edozien

Mr Nigeria winner and Mr World runner-up, Kenneth Okolie along with Mr. Nigeria runner up were among the few men on the MBGN 2010 Red Carpet. They were both dressed in black tuxes.

    • lola May 26, 2010 at 11:47 AM

      First
      yipeeeee!
The blue halterneck dress?.. seriously….Not working for me!

    • Style Diva May 26, 2010 at 11:52 AM

      Here’s My Pick
#1:Omowunmi Akinnifesi ( love the lace details )
#2:Ugonna Omeruo ( Those wide/sharp shoulder pads are IN!)Love the
Enerald COLOR!!! and I love her choice of shoes
#3.Stephanie Oforka ( It’s Spring , so she got the color right, very tasteful
love the red belt for contrast)
      These are my TOP 3.

Now the Blue halter sheath dress…Pretty gown she needs a bra though.
boobs are sagging.takes attn from this lovely dress

    • Oddie May 26, 2010 at 12:02 PM

      I like!!!

    • beezy May 26, 2010 at 12:05 PM

Girl in the blue dress……With BOOBS lyk dat?.. You just respect urself and stay off some kain dresses…chei!!!

    • jaydee May 26, 2010 at 12:13 PM

      i think agbani looks terrible..hate d dress.

    • GLORY May 26, 2010 at 12:19 PM

      beautiful dresses,
just that women shuld learn to wear clothes that fit hteir body shape and frame.
wearing the right cloth on a wrong frame draws attention from its beauty.

    • tyna May 26, 2010 at 12:20 PM

Beautiful ladies in beautiful dresses expect for the one with fallen breast without bra
in a blue halter neck dress, what were you thinking?

    • Mercury May 26, 2010 at 12:32 PM

lol! at the comments.yup!the girl in the blue halter neck-seriously???
best dressed for me was Stephanie Oforka.
      Omowunmi looks lovely as well!
      Munachi…err…not werking for me
Agbani…lovely girl, but that dress is just wrong!she looks beautiful from her neck-upwards.
I’d have preferred Ugonna’s dress a lil bit shorter-like just at the knee.
Oh,and the ldy below the ‘blue halter neck disaster’ looks stunning as well!

    • notaplayahater May 26, 2010 at 12:34 PM

of course, of course everyone has said it, but i gotta still say it again….sheesh.. the halterneck butt cleavage dress. what was she thinking? sagging boobs do NOT need to be flaunted on the redcarpet, thank you. My granny does that stuff way classier… in her bedroom!!!! pls never ever ever repeat this fail again, and contrary to BN’s assertion, she does NOT pull it off to me!!! Agbani’s dress??? i just dont know. other looks were glam tho. nice parade..

    • Mercury May 26, 2010 at 12:41 PM

*lady below the ‘blue halter neck disaster’(the ivory dress)

    • bubu May 26, 2010 at 12:42 PM

Agbani needs a stylist asap see her hair like she just rolled outta bed or something.am I d only one who dsnt knw dis Ugonna Omeruo!!!wat does she do.simply love her Style .as 4 d blue dress no point wasting mi tym on dat one…

    • THE AMAKA May 26, 2010 at 12:48 PM

why are Yvette’s boobs sagging? OMG! why would she wear that? she was just miss Ghana Universe in 2008. disappointing. she belongs on the worst dressed list for that one.
her name is Yvette Nsiah, Miss Ghana Universe 2008
its nice seeing all the old MBGNs again.

Agbani’s left picture looks good. but when you look to the right its like “uhm….what?”
i wonder why Adaeze wasn’t there, i would have loved to see what she looks like now.

STEPHANIE OFORKA!!! STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITES TILL DATE! I believe she should have won though. Stephanie had it all. the height, face, smile and she is always a stunner on the red carpet. FAB.

Omawunmi, i wasn’t so impressed with her outfit this time. she is usually one of my favorites.

ChiDynma, please lay off the overly fake eyelashes.

Munachi, NOOOOOO! what are you doing to yourself? this “rapping” thing? i have been hearing about this for the past two years with no single or not even being featured on anyone’s track. i seriously think she needs to find something else to do. but must you destroy your hair for this “rapping” stuff. she used to be one of my favs along with Stephanie O.

Jasmine Murray, LOVE THE DRESS! reminds me of something Beyonce would wear.

      nice feature Bella.

    • THE AMAKA May 26, 2010 at 12:49 PM

      @notaplayahater
      LOLOL!

    • deedoubleU May 26, 2010 at 12:51 PM

some of these dresses were hideous, some of them(dresses) did not go with their body frames dress/Nice dress, wrong shoes it’s either that or they’ve got bad friends e.g ex beauty queen Munachi!! not h8in but that dress+ color = hot mess.Ugonna’s combo… neit!.No bueno, .Agbani nice dress, wrong shoes, Chydymna, Omowummi, Yvonne, Jasmine and Adaure i like… Ivory dress, looked more like a wedding dress.

    • Renie May 26, 2010 at 12:53 PM

you guys should free the girl in blue halter neck.
the dress is made for bigger boobs but its lacks in support. she looks like a correct ckick so im sure it probably wasnt as bad on the day.

      everyone else looks great.

      is Elohor Isiorho pregnant?

    • Alero May 26, 2010 at 1:15 PM

now I know that ther is an enormous difference between “boobs” & ”breasts”.The lady in the blue dress has BREASTS sagging ones @ that.LMAO

    • NAKELE May 26, 2010 at 1:16 PM

FISTLY, WHY DO A LOT OF THE CHICKS TO WHITE LIKE THEY ARE MIXED OR SOMETHING? NIGERIANS, ANSWER ME, U KNOW UR OWN BETTER.
THE GAL IN BLUE, yAKKIE, PLS DO N’T DO THAT AGAIN (UR BOOBS) UU STOOP SO LOW AND DISGRASED YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. I MYSELF AS A WOMEN I VERY MUCH EMBARASED…………..

    • luvbogg May 26, 2010 at 1:20 PM

lwkmd! @ the gal in the blue dress….I assure you, she had no idea it will turn out this bad: the boos looking like over-ripe pawpaw….but it is a beautiful dress though.
That said I think looked good…omawumi looks diff and nice,
everone else did good, just didnt understand agbani”s dress, maybe its the angle from which the pix was taken….and as deedoubleU said her shoes didnt rock that much….

    • THE AMAKA May 26, 2010 at 1:22 PM

      as for the guests…
like deedoubleU said, most are just bad combinations or they don’t look flattering on their bodies.
so its not that what they’re wearing isn’t nice, its just poorly put together or not flattering. just because its expensive or looks good on the rack/manequin/model doesn’t mean it’ll look good on you!

      @NAKELE
      because they probably are….

    • judy May 26, 2010 at 1:23 PM

      @ the amaka
if u search really hard,u will find that Munachi has featured on pples tracks.
She looks really hot by d way.

    • THE AMAKA May 26, 2010 at 1:48 PM

      @judy
can you give me the name of the songs, cause i haven’t heard her ANYWHERE.

    • ihy May 26, 2010 at 2:11 PM

Why do a lot of the ladies have really horrible makeup…too many white faces.

    • sholly babe May 26, 2010 at 2:14 PM

What’s up with the matchy matchy green overload on Ugonna omeruo?fail fail fail!

    • sammy May 26, 2010 at 2:19 PM

OMG!!!…The lady in the blue dress???…..U deserve a hawwwwwt slap!!!!!…Wat nonsense….wat wat she tryn to pull??….fooolish gal!!!…and Agbani….my dear pls try and be eatn at least small akara/beans/meat to look more healthy > i knw ur a model and stuff but u look sick….and ur stye?…ZERO!ZERO!!!…kai!…Money cant buy style mehn!!..it just cant!…am out!

    • Blossom May 26, 2010 at 2:21 PM

      Munachi’s makeup looks so cheap.

I really like Renny Akande’s dress.

I have to say that I never have been a fan of JBL but, lately I’ve developed this love-hate relationship with her pieces… At the end sha, she knows her stuff! *bowing head in defeat*

    • Ujubaby May 26, 2010 at 3:19 PM

      Nyce!

    • @CHIZOBA May 26, 2010 at 3:27 PM

Loved the styles and look everyone was wearing
      and Munachi’s and Rihanna havesimilar
      styles!! :)

    • Iya2 May 26, 2010 at 3:33 PM

not everyone should wear mini abeg …. poko poko knees and thighs and tins? LWKMD on the melons! Chai
I have to say I love the green …. she pulled it together!
Ladies dress for your figure. spend some time in the gym or lay off the Agege bread if you wanna wear these outfits???

    • fokasibe May 26, 2010 at 3:40 PM

I concur with Judy..Muna has featured on some peoples tracks like Banky W’s Lagos Party remix and yeah! she sure looks HAT….as in Hot mess!!! wetin?
Agbani doesn’t look like she has it together either, the shoes are off!! And so is the make-up…People wake up!! Red carpet is not a baby shower!!! Stephanie Oforka & Omawumi killed it! Adaure’s dress was off the chain but she really needs to work on her hair…most times, it spoils her ensemble….

    • kumzy May 26, 2010 at 3:41 PM

Munachi’s look is so Rihanna & I think it suits her…doesn’t mean its for everyone!
Also luving the yellow dress, jasmine’s (purple) & Yvonne’s (pink)..
Omowunmi’s idea is pretty but don’t think that ankara is the best pattern to go with
      the black lace
      Gloria Edozien’s dress….mwah mwah mwah!!
& also luving the black dress with millitary jacket in a set & the black angular-shoulder top with the pearls..luv the pose of the girl!

    • judy May 26, 2010 at 3:46 PM

Munchi was on the lagos party remix by banky w and also on ph girl by terry the rap man. I dnt know y pple keep trying to tear her down.

    • vanessa May 26, 2010 at 3:54 PM

@amaka-munachi is d female rapper in lagos party remix.her name is muna on d track and jesse jagz also featured her on his album.

    • Mercury May 26, 2010 at 3:57 PM

@ THE AMAKA Munachi was on the remix of Bank W’s ‘Lagos party’ #justsaying :D

    • xoxo May 26, 2010 at 3:59 PM

Omowunmi looks really stunning and very classy… doesn’t she always,…Stephanie looks great..2 they all look pretty but probably the girl in the blue halter dress got dressed in the dark..lol

    • ader May 26, 2010 at 4:04 PM

Munachi- why? oh why? you are such a pretty girl. that hair really does nothing for you- u look like an akata wannabe

Ifeoma W- hmm very disappointed. You usually do the lack back sophistication right. This jumpusit isnt it o. It makes you look wide. But I guess everyone can have an off day huh?

Love Agbani’s dress, but her hair is ahot mess

I personally think that green from dress to shoes to eyeshadow is a bit much, but to each his own

On a side note , Brazil see what you have done! All your rejected hair, good bad and tangled has flooded naija o.

    • Asa May 26, 2010 at 4:37 PM

I love Munachi Abi, she is stunning and not your typical mbgn, i really want to see her act or sing, she’ll be great, Glory chukwu is a pretty girl but just seems so inhibited, wish she could come out of her shell, come on girl you got it so flaunt it.Not going to mince words here Agbani’s dress is rubbish, it just seems like a piece of cloth thrown on.Omowunmi looks gorgeous,on the whole and i think they all look great and the guys didn’t disappoint.

    • temi May 26, 2010 at 4:47 PM

munachi is pretty but tooooooo much make up and that hair style too ghetto, i think she lost the plot

    • Ameboress May 26, 2010 at 5:22 PM

ChiDynma looooks amazing…that dress fits her like a glove! I think her makeup looks flawless…Now onto the lady in green…did she think she was going to a Naija independence day event? she looks hideous in head to toe green, the dress is gorgeous but she shoulda worn gold heels or sth. I love omowunmi’s dres, stunning….The girl in blue should not show her sagging breasts in public again….dang the thing is almost at her knees. she should worn those backless gel cups that lifts the boobs. she looks like if she turns swiftly, her breast fit slap person. Love Agbani’s dress…her shoes are another story…

Naija ladies also need to step up their shoe game…if the wanna strut their stuff on the red carpet, they should wear befitting shoes. I mean these shoes are uuuugggglllyyyy….they might as well wear joker jelly abi kito sandals…. #thatisall

    • joan May 26, 2010 at 5:53 PM

love d dresses by Jewel By Lisa…..it’s time we start supporting local designers. PS; the girl in the blue halter neck dress is beautiful bt pls she should never wear that dress again. or if she wants to, she could wear an invincible bra

    • regina May 26, 2010 at 6:17 PM

they all cute. so who won?

    • Faramade May 26, 2010 at 6:49 PM

Omowunmi’s dress looks lovely…she is pretty…dang, is that Chineye all fat and round? Jesus…she don plump o? Akinlade married this very slim and all, look at how thick she has gotten? She is still cute but it doesn’t look like she even tried maintaining like ‘em Nike Oshinowo etc have. wow….

    • Faramade May 26, 2010 at 6:56 PM

oh…and God doesn’t like liars o…to the person who lied and said the girl in the blue dress pulled it off…na lie go wound you sha. See her boobs like rotten paw paw and you come talk say she pull it off. Even duct tape would have lifted her saggy tits a bit…silly girl. I am sure some folks lied to her that’s why she made it to the show looking like that…

    • ONYINYE May 26, 2010 at 7:56 PM

LADY IN BLUE MAXI RESPECT YOURSELF!!!!!!!

    • oju May 26, 2010 at 8:30 PM

faramade id love to see you soon after u give birth!!!

    • pinkfunky May 26, 2010 at 8:30 PM

Cant stop laughing at the silly lady everyone is commenting about “This backless halter sheath dress is not for the fainthearted. She pulls it off though.” This isnt news BN, she should’nt have been shown with sensible people.

    • londonchic May 26, 2010 at 8:54 PM

The lady in green ugonna or whatever her name is looks like a leprechaun in all that green lmao

    • bibbs May 26, 2010 at 9:14 PM

all i saw was a wrapper tied aroound agbani’s chest!!wat a stupid thing to wear…no matter d cost

    • Jummie May 26, 2010 at 9:14 PM

    • Miss Lawunmi May 26, 2010 at 9:33 PM

Oh my God!! Lady in blue halter whatever dress, believe me when I say I’ve never seen anything like that before. Where are the boobs heading to?

    • silia May 26, 2010 at 9:34 PM

omgsh, i dont know whether its the camera but alot of these women look messy
but yeah , love omowunmi and the ivory dress and i think munachi needs a stylist and that mr nigeria is a mess WTH!! but yeah alot to say. so fr the HHWA i hope ppl do better
check out this blog though, might help
      http://leoandpisces.blogspot.com/

    • THE AMAKA May 26, 2010 at 11:15 PM

@fokasibe, vanessa, mercury, thanks! i listened to the song.so i guess she really is rapping. her rapping is okay, same old, same old.

@judy, no one is trying to tear her down, I actually LIKE Munachi as a beauty queen, a lot. HECK, she reps for my state. i was only saying. but i did look for music with her in it and couldn’t find anything anywhere. didn’t know she was under “Muna” so PLEASE, no one is trying to tear her down, lets get that straight.

@ader, LOL at your last statement.

      @londonchic, LOL!

@Faramade, i believe Chinenye has had children. NIKE HAS NO CHIDREN!! please do not compare. its easy to maintain a body that has never had to carry a child for 9 months.
even if Chinenye has had kids or not, don’t use Nike has an example because she has no kids at all.

I’m would have been hoping that all the past MBGNs (or at least the ones from the last 10 years) would all get together at this event. kinda to see how all of them look like and what they’re up to.
      Adaeze, Anita, Abiola, Nike, Celia…
even older winners like Sabrina, Bianca, Regina.

no one even notices the girl with the saggy boobs is Yvette Nsiah, Miss Ghana Universe 2008. she is not just some random girl, she was MISS GHANA!!! why, why, why, why, why!
just because you are no longer the present holder of the title doesn’t mean you should just “let yourself go”
Bella, i think you should add a name to her pic, she does have a name for herself.

    • silva May 26, 2010 at 11:29 PM

am sorri but Ugonna’s dress doesn’t do it for me… seriously!…
the shoulders were to wide for her stature, they kind of dwarfed her a bit and also the green was too much.

She reminds me of Judy Jetson in that dress… seriously…
bt dat is the whole point isn’t it? to look ‘futuristic’…lol….

    • Tosin B May 26, 2010 at 11:31 PM

Omowunmi remains my best MBGN ever. Kuddos to d babe men……Love her 2 death. Young, decent, stylish, ambitious and beautiful. What more can a man ask fo…OMG

    • silva May 26, 2010 at 11:37 PM

the girl in the blue dress…what can i say? Bella pls stop being polite… the girl didn’t pull anything off…
instead she came off looking like all these women are desperate for attention… i mean look at her boobs!

Is it just me or Agbani looks really sick? Oluchi is a model also, she’s skinny but she looks healthy…

If i steal all the ‘human hair’ that is on display…chei… i go hammer baaadddd!!!
what! naija women and ‘human hair’…..
Ifeoma’s jumpsuit makes her hips look wider than normal…

    • silva May 26, 2010 at 11:41 PM

i don’t think the chik in the blue dress has ever heard of underwear…
if you look closely, it seems as if she has no panties on! no pant, no bra…hmm…
not very ladylike if you ask me…

    • munira May 27, 2010 at 1:21 AM

munachi looks nice.. dress isnt the best but its cool
      omowunmi looks great as usual..
the girl in the halter dress… smh
      agbani:dress? FAIL hair? FAIL

    • babylawyer May 27, 2010 at 1:39 AM

Adaure looked nice, would have looked even more magnificent with her slicked into a simple tight bun.

Stephanie looked magnificent, I also wondered why she did not win, admittedly her question and answer session dint put her in the best light at the time.

Absolutely love the girl with the futuristic black outfit, love her attitude and what she did with the pearls. She gets the gold star.

    • jess May 27, 2010 at 1:44 AM

Oh.my.word. I see what you mean about people trying too hard. I can count on one hand the amount of people that actually look good. I like the jump suit outfit, and also the yellow dress, the rest get a O_O

    • cici May 27, 2010 at 3:53 AM

      Omowunmi is a natural beauty
Adaure looks nice. She looks lighter or is it just me.
Agbani needs to get a good stylist that will know what looks good
      on her.
      Chineye Akinlade looks beautiful.

I guarantee you that most of the people that try to critique other people
fashion, they look a mess if we were to see how they dress!

    • chichi6 May 27, 2010 at 4:08 AM

Alot of nice outfits. Yea the blue halter could have been better with some more support but she still looks gorgeous!! lets stop all the hating guys work on yourself and focus on the positive

    • Chika May 27, 2010 at 5:20 AM

I am loving the ladies, and I am not trying to hate on how gorgeous they all look, but can I please see some more pictures of the hot guys! LOL! Them brothas are FINE!

    • Bola #1 May 27, 2010 at 5:57 AM

      not ‘hmm’ but ‘eeewww’
      not ‘brave’ but ‘stupid’

or maybe she didnt realise that when sheer clothes are photographed, the skin beneath shows
i hope she’s learnt what not NOT to wear next time

    • kk May 27, 2010 at 7:26 AM

      Muna, you rock. carry on,girl!!
The question aboutthe girl with the saggy boobs is not why she wore that dress.
The question is how does a young lady’s boobs get so saggy?
That is the more intruiging question.
I will refrain from making a comment on Agbani, as my post might not get published if i do.
Truth is, everytime i see a pic of hers in recent times, i get really worried.
I hope all is well with her?
Loads of women, not one with natural hair!!!
      It is utterly disgusting.

    • That Girl May 27, 2010 at 8:33 AM

LOVE the JBL dress…definitely best dressed of the night. Also liked Glory Chukwu’s dress.
As for Yvette, she looks gorg! Yes, she should have worn a bra, but come on! Let’s see how your boobs hang without a bra! I swear one would think a bunch of Beyonce’s were writing these comments…

    • Kunbistic May 27, 2010 at 8:59 AM

I can see what Darey meant on twitter now – this pagent should seriously be called most beautiful igbo girl in nigeria – And I aint a tribalist before the vulutres bury me before i have landed ( i am half igbo).

    • Nnenna May 27, 2010 at 9:48 AM

Please, somebody should tell that girl with the blue dress never to try putting on dat rubbish and she should not come to red carpet again and embrass herself.
Chidynma, you are looking very beautiful, but i prefer when u are naturally without t the the lashes and ur lipstick is much. i think you will be more beatiful, when on light make up. Agbani should go n look for a good fashion adviser.

    • Eno May 27, 2010 at 10:58 AM

the comments are more interesting than the pictures.
      Lol@ it all

    • asabe May 27, 2010 at 11:54 AM

To think agbani is about to host a style show. SMH.
Chinenye is really lovely. Congrats to her on her baby. @ faramade: u need to stop hating.
Not really feeling the ankara part of omowunmis dress. Love munachi’s hair

    • fokasibe May 27, 2010 at 1:38 PM

Ugonna looks a bit off with her all green ensemble, it leaves a lot to be desired…Even if she was attending a 9ja Independence day show sef!!! WEtin! As for the girl with the boobs down to her knees: The Fashion Police will arrest you the next time you try that rubbish!! Kai! What kind of rubbish is that? ChidYma tried, though the faux eyelashes were a bit much but all the same she looked good… IMHO a lot of babes in the smaller pictures (unnamed girls) should have been given the spot-light cos a lot of em looked way good!! Good job, BN team!

    • THE AMAKA May 27, 2010 at 3:08 PM

      @kk, i agree.
sometimes i think in my head when i see pictures of these events. the thought of it is just scary. looking at the guests at an event and staring into the crowd of weaves. O_o

@chichi6, maybe you are in her shoes or what? why shouldn’t we comment on something SO obvious to everyone. if you so much wanted to focus on the “positive” you wouldn’t have made that comment at all.

@ThatGirl. I don’t think anyone would be that foolish wearing a dress where your boobs are sagging to your belly button and with NO BRA. why would anyone do that in the first place?
I know my boobs would look fine without a bra. but on top of that its sheer material! GAH! she simply should learn from her mistakes.

@asabe, i totally forgot she is about to host a style show. so now that i think about it, SHE HAS NO EXCUSE to be looking like that. she will be critiquing others’ style when her own style is whack.

    • Oremi May 27, 2010 at 4:52 PM

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Agbani’s hair…the dress?ill pass, maybe for someone with a wider hip and shorter frame, it prb would drape better.. The comments are my best part on this website lolz. As for the St. Peter’s day leprechaun..hahaha. Love Muna’s hair, omowunmi cest tres much! Blue halter I dey hail o! Dont u have anything to say for urself?

    • silva May 27, 2010 at 5:23 PM

lol @ K.K and Amaka… natural ke? only ‘bush’ women don’t wear weaves in naija lol….
bt seriously, we overdo everything… if you don’t wear a weave then it means your broke…
nonsense… that is why i have nothing but rspect for Miss Dakore and Ego Ogbaro……

    • Foxtrot © May 27, 2010 at 6:58 PM

O! But why! Dear ladies – if your boobs are droopy – please, please dont let us know – not cool :-(
Ifeoma Williams looks so old – my gosh!
Omowunmi – lovely, lovely dress. Love it to bits :-)

    • eran iya May 27, 2010 at 6:59 PM

Haba most of u peeps shld take a chill pill. Yes admitted some of d pics do ve a lot of issues but really u lot jst sit dere nd lynch ppl r u actually for real or ny better . Dis one’s boobs is dat, dat one’s face is one kind, dis one is fat oh geez evry one shld go take a nice glass of cold water nd jst shut up.

    • Faramade May 27, 2010 at 9:24 PM

lmao @ the mumu that just said Chineye just had a baby..did she have seven babies? no be one she have?…she needs to stop being lazy and hit the threadmill jor. Didn’t regina askia, bianca Onoh etc have kids? isn’t she a young girl that she already looks like madam shaje after one kidd…sorry she is just too fat for an x-beauty queen. and yeah if i have kids, its ok for me to be fat cos last time i checked, i am not the one running around as ex-beauty queen. whether your reign is on or over as a beauty queen you need to maintain shape, figure, look etc small..don’t go an skinny up to win a beauty pageant and then start swallowing banga and starch just cos you can or oooops just cos you had a baby…nonsense. Even Genevive Nnaji looks damn good and heck she has a kid too…stop using your baby as an excuse for your lack of control…especailly if part of your job/titlbe is to look good.

    • Molly May 27, 2010 at 9:28 PM

luv it luv it…one of the most stylish editions of BN’s I’ve seen, keep ‘em coming!

    • BiggestBossThusFar May 28, 2010 at 1:14 AM

@ Kunbistic, I don’t think it sounds tribalist. It’s actually a good observation.

However, did you also notice that 50% of the contestants are also Igbo?
      And 3 Yoruba, 4 Edo & 1 Rivers names?

Sure, Igbo girls are beautiful. But so are Yorubas, Itsekiris, Idomas,
Efiks, Fulanis, Kajes, Hausas and I can go on and on.
All Nigerian women are blessed but the ethnic groups are not evenly represented
      at these pageants.
Which leads me to the point that your observation is great but it’s important to
interpret it well otherwise, one can be misled. This pageant statistics certainly DO
NOT say ANYTHING about Nigerian women as a whole.

    • THE AMAKA May 28, 2010 at 2:10 AM

@Faramade, are you alright? BN just wrote congrats on being a mother. that basically means she recently within the last few months had a baby. otherwise Bella wouldn’t be randomly congratulating her.
give the lady some time to get back to her normal self. Did you not see where Bella wrote “she is a new mum” She is being a mother taking care of her child (probably still an infant). Losing weight at this time is probably the last thing on her mind.
Genevieve Nnaji had a child about 11-13 years ago. Regina and Bianca also. How long ago did they have those kids? how many years ago? they have had TIME to get down to their size.
don’t even compare her to these American celebs that have a whole team of trainers and nutritionist that help them lose baby weight within 2 months. that being said its because they are either doing music, acting, modeling, whatever. Chinenye isn’t doing anything that requires her to lose a crazy amount of weight right after having a child.
btw, are you paying her? is she doing anything that requires her to lose weight? she has been nowhere in the media. not doing any acting, modeling (at least from what ive seen). so who should she be so worried about losing weight ? for losers like you? I LAUGH! maybe her husband likes her like that.
so you can have kids and get fat(she’s not even fat anyway) but she can’t just because she is an ex-beauty queen? did you really just say that? hahaha! after you have your kids, i would expect you to be slim 6 weeks after giving birth. LMAOOOOOOOO. I bet you also expect them to stay slim during pregnancy. LOOOOOOOOOL.
get off your high horses and stop being foolish, USE YOUR NOGGIN.
mumu indeed, pot calling the kettle black.
Beauty Queens don’t even mean anything in Naija, really. most people there don’t even know or care who the current MBGN is or the one from 10 years ago. This is not western society where people are critiqued left and right for their size, even though they were beauty queens 10 years ago. this is naija we’re talking about. who even really cares about her size other than you? and she’s not even fat, get your eyes checked or upgrade your computer.
stop sitting behind the computer running your mouth, you probably don’t even look half as good as her.
if it makes you happy, i bet you can pay her to slim down, if you ain’t paying her, please sit down in one corner.
answer this. why all the animosity?

@silva, thats a very foolish mentality to have. I really hope that isn’t the case for all this “weave”
i do give my props to Dakore, Ego, and Grace Amah. :)

    • asabe May 28, 2010 at 7:32 AM

@faramahate: Get a grip!! Genevieve, Bianca,Regina? Seriously? Chinenyes baby is probably not even up to a year!! Looks to me like she is maintaining and can only get better. You are not being very constructive in ur criticism. For one you are clearly not well informed since you referred to Nike oshinowo (that was hilarious ). Btw, did u just call someone a “mumu”? SMH.

    • fokasibe May 28, 2010 at 8:18 AM

Haba Faramade, Chinenye’s baby is less than 1 year old now, haba? Give her time to nurse her baby and get back in shape now? The peeps you are comparing her with have kids who are at least 6, 7 and even teenagers!! Give Chinenye a break abeg!! So because she has not lost her preggy weight she should lock herself indoors and refrain from socializing?

    • proenza's cooler May 28, 2010 at 10:55 AM

Ugonna please don’t mind all these comments….I still love your look! I prefer you with longer hair though.

I just want to add to the WTF comments about the saggy boobs. Just WOW!

    • babylawyer May 28, 2010 at 11:44 AM

good observation about the ethnic representation thing, but you must remember that candidates are generally invited to apply to the competition voluntarily so perhaps the call should be made to the eloquent and presentable girls from other ethnic groups to go out and buy the forms, audition and commit the expense, time and effort to the competition so that it can be “evenly represented.”

    • jaypemps May 28, 2010 at 6:51 PM

That blue dress is just a paw paw sheath. She did not pull it off at all considering that her pawpaws are quite droopy :-(.

    • Nice Anon May 28, 2010 at 8:48 PM

Whoever that munachi girl is.. she is blazing HOT! The chic is freaking fierce!

    • cynthia May 28, 2010 at 11:58 PM

what did agbani think she is doing, dat dress shuold be tag worst dress if the occasion.

    • silva May 29, 2010 at 1:53 AM

@ THE AMAKA that is not my mentality by a looong shot! am telling you what goes on through the heads of most of these women… i read Genny’s interview in some mag and she said the last time she wnt out without fixing her hair, people kept asking her if she was broke or somtin…so according to her’i'll neva go without fixing my hair again’….
my previous comment was purely sarcastic… i personally dn’t understand the craze

    • babyface May 29, 2010 at 2:10 AM

      Too much makeup……………..

    • less is more May 29, 2010 at 1:24 PM

Ok people, forgive the girl in the blue halter. I promise she’d never do that again, she must have learnt the hard way by now.

    • THE AMAKA May 29, 2010 at 3:12 PM

      @silva
i know its not your mentality ooooo!! but i meant i hope thats not the mentality of the people you were talking about.
thats sad!!! just because she didn’t fix her hair shouldn’t mean anything. my thoughts would have been “is she too lazy to do her hair” not “is she broke”
na wa for those people oooo.

    • fash May 29, 2010 at 6:22 PM

Naija peeps sha……….They all look overdone except Omowunmi who kept it clean and sophisticated.
I don’t get the girl in the blue dress with her breast hanging loose…..really mehn what were you thinking?I loved chidyinma’s hair and akinifesi….breath of fresh air from all that rubbish Brazilian and Indian hair that everybody seems to pack on their hair.I think Agbani is on cheap crack cos i dnt get why she’s always looking half done.Ugonna Omeruo missed the mark. The length of the dress is soooo off.I guess she was copying Vic Beckham.Chinenye ochuba should have stayed at home with her baby. She looks like a mess.Aduare’s hair looks like darling yakiii…but im loving her dress. Now that i’v finished hating….im outta here.

    • JJ May 30, 2010 at 3:48 AM

Blue halter neck dress… Catastrophic error in judgement. Get thyself to Dr. 90210, or invest in a bra.

    • sandra May 30, 2010 at 6:08 AM

am so dissapointed that bella didn”t recognise MBGN UNIVERSE 2009 sandra otowho in the red greecian dress>not fair instead she got a lil pic while the terible lady in the blue dress got a big one

    • caramel May 30, 2010 at 8:49 AM

lots of hits and lots of misses…most obvious for me is agbani…jeez what was she thinking? outfit and shoes are totally wrong!!

    • THE AMAKA May 30, 2010 at 3:21 PM

@sandra, thanks for pointing that out, i didn’t even notice.

    • tanya May 31, 2010 at 11:09 AM

a few of these ladies looked very nice….props but easy on the make-up and fake hair…..dang…

    • Toni May 31, 2010 at 11:12 AM

      Lovely Pictures

    • Banke May 31, 2010 at 11:14 AM

      beautiful dressess! Amazing

    • THE AMAKA June 1, 2010 at 7:19 AM

the second girl from the left in the second to last row of pics…i knew she looked familiar. does anyone wanna confirm my suspicions.
isn’t that Chioma from the Koko Mansion? she is wearing a dress similar to the a dress Omowunmi wore in the past.

    • jaybee June 1, 2010 at 10:07 AM

too much make up,fake hair, oga o,agbani doesnt look beautiful again imo, those shoes of hers shld be thrown into the lagoon, and i thinks she’s had wrk done on her face, cos she has this permanent semi-sad look nowadays.abt d disaster waiting to happen in the blue dress,u need Dr Ray asap! 4 a braest lift lol!

    • fash June 1, 2010 at 2:59 PM

I wonder what all these ladies look like w/out make-up and fake hair. Some men will be getting divorced….lol

    • aduks June 1, 2010 at 9:04 PM

yay!! can finally put a face on the absolutely amazing writer , Glory edozien. Just so you know ur writings are addicting! FANtactic

    • THE AMAKA June 2, 2010 at 12:06 AM

      @jaybee and fash
the same can be said for hollywood as well. tons of weave, makeup, this and that. the only thing they have that nollywood/naija celebs most likely dont have is plastic surgery.
so all these celebs rock the fake hair, tons of makeup look, cause thats just how it is.

    • tara June 3, 2010 at 1:48 AM

@Kunbisitc…U cannot get upset if igbo girls seem to be the prettiest. Igbo ppl dont run the show..ppls apply and the best are chosedn. If they all happen to be igbo..too bad..that’s life..everybody cannot be beautiful. There is nothing to balance out.

    • Blossom June 3, 2010 at 10:44 AM

LOLing at all the drawn-on eyebrows that are reflecting the camera flash!

    • supre June 3, 2010 at 11:56 AM

Abi I love u.u re our rihanna

    • Titi June 3, 2010 at 1:10 PM

THE AMAKA, that’s definitely Chioma. I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw her. She looks buhahaha, doesn’t she?

    • dammy June 3, 2010 at 6:05 PM

nigerian women need to start stepping up their makeup game. its better to not out any on that to look like a freakin rainbow. their make up routine is beggin for some highlighting/ contouring. it just looks so blah its dissapointing

    • missy June 3, 2010 at 8:38 PM

Got to say, Bella writers need to be alittle bit more honest with your post. Look at other famous fashion blogs and see what makes a complete look. it is funny the comments are the ones pointing out the truth about some looks

    • Seun June 3, 2010 at 11:30 PM

munachi should stop all ths rap nonsense – how old is she – with such teenage goals. She is a stunning african girl she needs to aim at something better than saying “i want to be a rapper” – thats ridiculous. I hope she at least have a degree. She is beautiful out side but something tells me i cant say the same for her inside (look at how she is frowning) – it kills me when isee beautiful girls like Munachi and Genevieve trying to act all like Victoria Beckham thinking frowning or rigid makes u look fierce or Sexy – NOOOOOOTTTTTTT.

Now the other lady i love Omowunmi. Her inner/outer beauty exudes like Halle Berry – is she married or attached.

    • Seun June 3, 2010 at 11:32 PM

is there a single nigerian woman with nice legs , all this v shape legs and they always want to show it
      i mean really

    • moxie June 4, 2010 at 8:19 PM

all i have to say is to each their own.some were hits(omowunmi and chdynma)some wer misses(lady in d blue dress)while some were just wrong!!!!(agbani!! kilode?).as for the weve debacle, dont worry about it,we go all tire at some point.

    • THE AMAKA June 5, 2010 at 5:35 PM

      @tara, i totally agree.

@Titi, i knew i was right! hahahahaha she does look a mess. the dress isnt bad but the shoes and earrings just kill it. or even better earrings would have done the trick, because they’re too distracting. but she does have nice makeup and a nice dress, she just didn’t pair them together well.

people keep comparing munachi to rihanna. nah! i see munachi more like Naija’s own Keri Hilson (who does kinda steal Rihanna’ style a bit). but she seems more like a Keri Hilson than a Rihanna.

    • rehreh June 7, 2010 at 11:40 PM

      Agbani is absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • sally June 8, 2010 at 1:24 AM

hate d blue sagging boobs gown

    • teemah June 8, 2010 at 1:43 AM

Really the girl in the blue dress needs support for her breasteses! Agbani is
pretty but she looked like she rolled out of bed with her cover cloth…
      not flattering.

    • Ency June 8, 2010 at 9:35 AM

Some of the ladies looked soooo gooooddd….But the lady in the blue halter…mhmmm….She didn’t pull it off in that dress. Someone call the fashion police on her pleeaseeee!!!!

    • afrochic June 8, 2010 at 9:40 AM

wat’s up bellanaija? why wasnt my comment posted? did i ruffle some feathers with d comparison to City People & undue praise singing or was it my comment about ur feature writer, Glory Edozien’s dress being unflattering to her figure or ifeoma williams boring look. ive read a lot of comments here that r rather unsavoury & still got posted. Hope d former naija factor’s not gradually creeping into bellanaija. constructive criticism doesn’t hurt.

    • b June 8, 2010 at 6:50 PM

Faranmade or wot do u call urself. That comment about Chineye was completely out of place. This woman happens to be a new mum,and that was her first outing having just given birth. Why don’t u try having a baby first, then compound that with the pressures of being in the public eye. Then u would have become qualified to comment on such matters. Look at u, a woman like urself making a derogatory comment about a fellow woman. I wud think with all the stick we get from men, the least we could all do was to be supportive of each other. Nonsense.

    • mischif June 10, 2010 at 10:52 AM

I start off by saying that whenever we set out to go for an occassion , the primary aim
of most women is to outdo each other and in the process its overdone, either the make up
the shoes, ….etc, it takes a whole lot to put up the overall perfect look without looking
like you tried too hard…………. and when anyone
does that right, then i can say you are a true fashionista, a fashionista takes out time
to combine and look through the combo to ensure everythings perfect but there are
times one or two mistakes are made and its pardonable,

Muna is a fantastc rapper trying to change her image from prom queen to gangster
rapper, she shudda not put on that dress, with that kinda look she needs to on sth
super sexy and sharp @ the same time.

Omowunmi…not bad at all, fantastic make up, love agbanis make up too, yvette….its
sad u were an ex-beauty queen, you have to depict decency and u could also still look
      as sexy as you want,

ifeoma williams, i agree looked a bit drab, 5 ladies after Agbanis picture looked nice….overall
comment…..60% of the women looked good.
      tx
Chineye didnt look sophisticated enough, too much of everything, once u are a public
figure u need to take ur time before stepping out, you tried but trust me it could be better

    • Sophie June 12, 2010 at 5:45 AM

The girl in the blue halter neck dress,is she for real? Abasi mbo!!!!! The Agbani picture, did she just come out of the shower with her abi towel or wrap? Agbani U no do am like UP girl before o,I tell U. But everybody looked ravishing.

    • felicia June 15, 2010 at 9:19 PM

Nd dat dress is also transparent..

    • squish September 5, 2010 at 5:11 AM

hmm. red lips, green dress, pink bag, blue shoes! OMG.
