BN Exclusive: In Loving Memory of her Mother, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s Foundation OYEP gives 20 Widows AMAZING Makeovers – Must See Photos!

She has starred in countless number of movies, her face has graced the cover of almost all Nigerian lifestyle publications and she is a dedicated and determined human rights and youth activist. These are just some of the one in a million ways to describe Nollywood screen star – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

Omotola’s mother passed away 10 years ago and in celebration of the life and times of her dear mother, she and her Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme team showed love and gave a major transformation to 20 widows in an effort to encourage widows who have strived to keep the home front in order despite the demise of their spouses.

“The 20 Widows Makeover” programme was also organised to pamper and boost the confidence and self esteem of these widows. They were all given a first class treatment, beauty regimen which comprised of a total makeover starting with facials and massage by the reputable Fresh Look Spa and celebrity choice – H and H Spa. They had their hair done by in famous celebrity hair stylist – Ugo Igbokwe of Make Me Beauty and Makeup was done by House of Tara.

After the make-over, they were all taking on a shopping spree to upscale fashion boutique – Every Woman and finally had a photo session with in demand and pioneer photographer – Kelechi Amadi-Obi.

The final part of the programme which took place at Pine Park, Lekki saw lots of mouth watering delicacies such as delicious cupcakes by Mossy Ella Bakers, drinks from Chivita and many more. Apart from the numerous treats that these widows got, they all went home with various gift items like sets of designer pots, cooking utensils and a bag of rice each, make-up kit from House of Tara and words of encouragement from Pastor Tessy of Jesus My Shepherd Church. Kelechi Studios will also be sending a framed portrait to each of the 20 widows.

Speaking about the programme, Omotola said “This is something I wish I or someone had done for my mother.  If you give these women money, they would spend it on their kids. This time it’s about them. When my mother was alive, I didn’t know I was going to loose her so soon, she was a very beautiful woman but because of all her struggles, she neglected her personal needs, she didn’t get to enjoy all these things like going to the spa, going shopping. So, this is one thing I would have loved to do for my mum who was a widow for 10 years. It was lovely and fulfilling to see the entire transformation and I am really grateful to all that helped to make this happen”

    • Me January 24, 2012 at 12:17 pm

I’m telling you! Even if it is only a one day encounter……i’m sure it would have helped prolong a life for atleast one of them emotionally. May God raise more people, to help the less fortunate, and may more fortunate nigerians learn that wealth is only a matter of time, chance and soley by the Grace of God.
Omotola well done. i’ve always known you had more soul and depth in you than what nollywood projects. As you have brought smiles on these widows faces, so shall our God put a never ending smile on your household.

      • jay January 27, 2012 at 1:13 am

    God Bless you Omotola…

    • mirialle January 25, 2012 at 5:25 am

      amen to that

      • Ginika January 27, 2012 at 2:02 pm

        As in amen to that

I was literally shouting, see transformation. This thing has taught me one of two things. Firstly, as a woman continue making an effort to look good. Meaning, dont stop putting on your make up or taking time out for yourself (if you can afford it). I mean, this brought back the youthful glow to them and they look amazing. Secondly, I can see what their husbands saw in them too, when they married them and also the beautiful you of now, dont let it die even as you get older. It is still you. They look like they are all in their late 20’s again.

        Godbless you Omotola.

    • Mercy Mwale – Kalulu January 23, 2013 at 2:22 pm

DID ANYBODY SEE THE CHANGES IN THIS WOMEN?THEY RE SO BEAUTIFUL

    • Temiloluwa January 24, 2012 at 2:14 pm

Absolutely. Stress brings doesn’t mesh well with beauty. It’s not just about the makeover. You can tell that for that day, they were happy, relaxed and had the chance to meet with others in like-situations. I’ve learnt a lot from this.

    • Obi January 24, 2012 at 6:46 pm

They are indeed BEAUTIFUL!!! I was/ still am speechless. A little kindness … Jesus bless Omotola’s heart forever.

      • NMBW January 25, 2012 at 12:01 pm

You can see the beauty and transformation even in their eyes.
Noticed the way their eyes lit-up in the after pictures?

Little acts of kindness make a world of difference.

Guess that’s why Oprah rocks as well.

        Bless!

    • Berry Choco-Latte January 25, 2012 at 2:01 pm

  • too blessed to be cursed January 24, 2012 at 5:20 pm

Omotola, God will continually bless you.As you have beautified these women, God will continually beautify your life too.You will never lack a good thing. You and your husband will enjoy yourselves till old age in Jesus’ name.I was looking at these pictures& tearing up.These women are so beautiful. My Mom was widowed at an early age& widows can be so sacrificing. My Mom worked so hard to see that my sibling& I were well provided for.She would rather buy us clothes than buy one for herself. Now I am in a thinking mode of how to be a blessing to less privileged people.God bless you Omotola.Your children will not be fatherless or motherless at an early age in Jesus name, Amen.

  • Yusuf Sophia January 24, 2012 at 5:22 pm

  • Shosho January 24, 2012 at 5:23 pm

This is indeed very touchung….seeing the transformation was mind blowing and brought me to tears. The before pictures you can see the pain, lonliness and hardship on their faces. Its not easy being a single parent and having to deny yourself of so many things in order to care for your family. Most especially missing your companion…..Omotola well done!

  • Baby Dee January 24, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Tola, i’m glad the whole world is finally getting to see the woman we know already. Mom would be so so proud of you. You were dead on when you said you wished someone did this for her when your dad passed. She was doing what all mothers in her position would do, she was providing for you and the boys, to make sure you guys had everything daddy would have provided for you had he been alive. I still remember those days like yesterday. I’m very very proud of you. God bless you.

  • Omobolaji Jalade January 24, 2012 at 6:27 pm

For all you have done for me and my brother alone, I cannot but thank you, Mama Jal lived a very short life somewhat unfulfilled but I am sure she is happy in heaven as she smiles down on you. Keep doing what you are doing and God will make you bigger

  • Stella January 24, 2012 at 7:29 pm

I love this! God bless them all.

  • pendo January 24, 2012 at 7:39 pm

amazing what makeup, different hairstyle, different clothes and most importantly a SMILE can do. Well done Omosexy for puting a smile on these widows faces. i know yours is a youth empowerment foundation but please consider taking on widows as well to help them with sustainable development projects so that they can take better care of themselves and their children. African societies can be considerably harsh to widows sometimes taking all they have and leaving them with nothing. God bless the work of your hands Omotola!!!

  • ida January 24, 2012 at 7:44 pm

I don’t know if it’s me, but these women look too different from their ‘before’ looks. Was the makeover beyond hair and make up or it was with surgeries?
I appreciate the gesture, but after a good look at them, I hope the ‘after pics are true.

    • Pooja January 25, 2012 at 3:54 am

Who are you to speak this way? What gives you the right to think of such..Do you think these women are not beautiful? Son!! This is not a place for stupid jokes, if you want to laugh, take a good look in the mirror and you will find something to laugh about. These are great women who are beautiful in sight of God and man…you on the other hand is just a low-life human who has no other job to do other than doubt and try to take the piss out of something so dear to these women. You appreciate the gesture….I don’t think so. My advise to you is this..pray to God to have mercy on you and that the grace of God be upon me that I don’t rain curses on you for what you are implying about the looks of these great women here. Once again my sincere and honest advise to you son, is you don’t fool around sensitive matters, or anybody at all in life, cause someone else is watching you. And when you get caught, you will reagret the day you ever haboured the thought and say something foolish. Utter wise words son!!! And you will be free from foolishness!!! Better still,if you have nothing positive to say, then shut your trap!!!!

      • molarah January 26, 2012 at 2:08 pm

why the need for insults? people have a right to their own opinion – for me and many others this is a great initiative, some others might think otherwise, they reserve the right to do so?

  • viv January 24, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Never cried like this while viewing pictures. I cried because these are everyday women, some live on your street,we buy stuff from some, and we attend church with some-they are regular people. You touched their lives, you made them smile (be it for one day),they met you(which is a great deal to them)……May God pray for you Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. I’m still in tears right now………

i’m short of words&moved to tears..it’s amazing when to see the physical impact that your actions have made on the widows lives….great job, they are so beautiful…some of the women looked more than 10 years younger after the makeover. Prior to this,i liked Omotola but now I love her! God bless you and your organisation beyond your expectations in Jesus Name…Amen

  • tia January 24, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Brought tears to my eyes the way the makeover took off years and made them look so radiant. Kudos, Omotola!

  • Purpleicious Babe January 24, 2012 at 11:45 pm

ohhh WOW @ all the positive reviews… OMOTOLA must be blushing with encouragement and fulfillment.

I am almost tempted not to comment, but well done and keep up the good CSR… It will not only improve your reputation but its shows you in a different light and how down to earth you really are…

As many have prayed, I join my faith with them that this opportunity to make widows smile will not be one off but there will more and more. More rolled out across the country and before you know it people are buying into the idea and doing it in their own country(yes, it can also become a business venture, i.e. a CHARITY)…

You have inspired many many and many people through this, you can only pat yourself and the team on your shoulders..

Well done team omotola…. GREAT WORK..

Very impressive too, all the widows looked AMAZING… AS IN….

Baba GOD will continue to inspire you and protect your family.

    • chybabe January 25, 2012 at 6:22 am

      Chybabe,
I am really not a regular comment poster on this site, but Omotala’s act of kndness was very inspiring and touchy. Women should emulate such act, encourage each other, love one another as God loves us, stop the competetion and the bickering for we only live for a moment and what gain is there when the most of our time were spent hating, competing instead of loving. We cannot do it alone without the help of our Lord Jesus, so give Him a chance today. God bless you Omotala and your family.
