Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde launched her reality TV show – “Omotola: The Real Me” in December 2012 and from what we hear, the debut episode received the highest viewership on M-Net’s Africa Magic ever!
Since then, the show has maintained strong ratings.
So we wanted to find out if BN readers have been watching and what are your thoughts on the show so far!

The show isn’t reality to me. More of a documentary. she should do less narration, and just let the camera’s roll. She should check out the kardashians for ideas. that’s more realistic.
I totally agree with you., she should narrate less,then maybe say a little after a part or after a scene but its good, something different
perhaps form the hangle you are looking at it from, for me, there is every bit of realness in it. it really show her every day life and i must say that it is an interesting one.

I especially couldn’t relate to the part of her shedding tears when she was in France (i think) and she on the phone with her son who told her he was missing her. Am like is she for real? Crying cos your son said he’s missing you? Omo na naija we dey abeg!!!!

That’s the thing with our naija parents, they love us but have a weird way of showing it…they cant express it coz that’s not how they were raised. But it’s a new generation my friend. No reality about the show. She should take a cue from the Kardashians. The whole thing is scripted and looks like she is acting. We want to see her in her natural element- at home, interacting with family, basically her day to day life activities not just the glamourous side of things. I watched two episodes and stopped watching. One positive thing though – she looked stunning in both episodes I saw.

She is beautiful no doubt but its definitely not a reality show. Shows just the glamorous side of her. I hardly watch it now especially because she laughs unnecessarily during the narrations and she’s just acting the whole thing through, making it so nauseatingly fake.

I watch the show mainly for makeup, hair and Omotola’s styling inspiration and she hasn’t failed at all. I love love her accessories as well.

very scripted show. it comes off as very fake and uninteresting. if she adopts more elements of fun or something it would be more interesting to watch. if this is the real her, then she’s boring AF!
Didn’t find it interesting. Too scripted and way too much Narration for my taste.
I think the episodes should be online so fans outside Nigeria can watch and critique as well

Its GOOD, I always watch it when it comes on but it would be better if it showed more of her home life, her kids and dealing with family issues. Cause Nigerian extended family can be interesting most times. Like we would like to know if she has a gate-man, who are her neighbours does she attend her children’s sport events and stuff like that. that’s what makes great reality TV. that’s what people want to watch.

I’m on the fence about the ‘realness’ of the show. Some scenes you can tell was scripted and some not like the guy at the airport praising Omotla. That was clearly spontaneous and on point. It’s good entertainment, I’ll keep watching.
The nice part of the show is the fact that she always looks goergeous but she needs to relax and make It more natural and the camera men still have a lot of work to do,they need to learn how to tilt their camerras well.The editors should also sit up and do a great job because her fans deserve the best

the show has been one exciting and love lovely one, i most especially love it because of the realness in it. The total package is awesome.
its all acting esp in that episode with the PA it was obvious it was just fake…good concept tho,but they should drop the acting if its reality…
watching how the successful actress cope with her career and her family is really amazing, it really showed how great and a wonderful woman she is.

i love every minute of the show mainly because of the fact that it’s real, i wonder why anyone will say otherwise.
I have seen some episodes of d show but am not feeling it yet. She is just showing us the glamorous life of a movie star. We want to see the real omotola not another Nollywood movie jare, we want to see her aS wife and mother…we want see her doing chores, we want see how she takes her kids to school,we want to see her settle squabbles among her kids and many more. This is a reality TV show and not a docu drama. She should take a look at Kimora’s Kadashian’s and many more. We are getting bored! But thank God for make-up and hair sha, at least we something to look forward to if d content is flat.

The show is like crap. Its’ extremely very boring and unrealistic. Its obvious she’s just acting out. It’s kinda sad cause i expected much from the show. I personally used to see her in high regard and all. But as a result of the show am just cin a very fake, selfish and unrealistic individual. It’s far from a reality show, it’s just an advertisement of herself. She should have just stuck to acting!

Ofcos the show is outta this world. I come home early to watch the new episode every Thursdays, even though i have to sacrifice something at work cos i just cannot miss it, must not be told about it at all and believe me, it’s been worth it.
2 words to describe the show, Not Real!! She should let things flow. We are not dumb, we don’t need a narrative. Plus, its all about work work work, no family life, no embarassing moments! She wakes up in the morning looking camera ready! Oh come on!!! The show should be renamed, omotola, my glam life! On to the next please.

I love Omotola as a movie star but dz reality aby scripted show is annoying and awkward. Is so unnatural and fake.she speaks so fast and laughs wen is not neede. I don’t understand the fuss people are making about some of the parts looking scripted. If you watched the very first episode of Kimora’s show, you would agree it was scripted. I believe the people on the show are still trying to ease into the reality of being followed around constantly by cameras. And who wouldn’t? Even you guys that are complaining – admit it, your behaviour slightly adjusts when you realize there is a camera nearby.
So you’ve not gotten round to see the home front – cheer up, its probably coming up in the later episodes.
And people, ease up on the negativity. Hating brings wrinkles. Be happy!

watching her show makes me really wanna see it over and over again, every minute of it is worth my time even though i hardly have time to seat an watch tv, but when it comes to omotola, i can do anything and deprive myself of anything to see it.

Nothing reality abt her show. Wouldn’t have gone beyond d ‘pilot’ episode if it was on US tv. That said, she is a good actress no doubt.

I was especially surprised by the show’s lack of content. The fact that it was a so called reality TV show that didn’t feature her in her home, or show her kids or husband was a let down. Anyway, thank God there are always alternative channels to change to.

Okay people, wait up!!!! The reality industry in Nigeria is just starting up (i may be wrong) it takes courage to let a camera follow you all day and still act normal and you dont expect her husband and kids who are not always under the spotlight to act like they are used to this. Her show’s still in its early stage and given time, they’ll all adjust to it. I’m sure it was not effortless in the US when it first began.

I have not seen the show but I must say for Omotola taking the bold step to do a reality, thumps up to her. What is the defination of a reality show? Some of you are talking about the Kardashian’s like that is the only reality show on tv. In a reality tv show, you only let people see what you want them to see, hear and know. If the directors are okay with that, then they go ahead with it. In her case, they must be okay with it. The article also suggests that the first episode has the highest viewing rate on Africa magic and the show consistently attracts a high viewing rate. Even in America, shows that we love so much are discontinued because the viewing rate is low. Why don’t we say well done to our own when they are doing well instead of thrashing them. If you don’t like the show, then stay away from it. It is very obvious other people love it!

Why do we love to tear our own in Africa? Omotola’s show is wayyyyyy better than some reality shows I’ve seen on E! I’ve heard most of my colleagues all discussing the show in the office on Fridays after Thursday’s broadcast. So I’m wondering where are all these people who rushed here to write its boring from?

I love this lady, good actress.
From the ads that preceded the airing, what I heard her say is; ‘When the make up is off and the lights goes off, then comes the real me’. This made me to expect something more original than the scripting that is being aired. Besides, I watched it with my wife and surprisingly just before I asked her, she asked me what is the show about ‘cos I could not connect to it after watching for over ten minutes. I like her daring spirit to do something new besides her regulars she is known for, but I will encourage her to make it more original and African so people can connect to it.

i wonder why some people will find it hard to appreciate when someone is doing good, we Nigerians most time beahve as if we know best. A friend of mine who came from the Texas with me down to Nigeria find it interesting, that makes me to wonder why someone out there is hating on omotola. She has done and still doing good, and we should respect that. If we cannot appreciate our self, i wonder who will.
Omotola is the shining light of Nigeria and i am proud of her any day anytime. When she came with this show, she blew and still blowing my mind away. Right about now, i am getting ready to go home so i could watch the show.

She’s far from being real. It’s all acting, boring and she makes a lot of grammatical errors which are never edited. This so called show is not sustainable and I’m sure its life span won’t last for a year. Try something else aunty. Plus what’s it with her permanent undergrowth on her front hairs? Makes me wonder if her hair never relaxes… must be some steel sponged hair she’s got

the truth of the matter is if we ask opinion of people about the Kardashians majority will be negative and don’t you for one moment think all this reality shows are real they are all scripted.Just much more than each other.I think Omotola is about to be the next Kim they hate they show but can’t stop watching.You’ll be shocked the amount of people that watch the show,same goes to the Kardashians.

I watched an episode and I was not impressed. A lot of grammatical errors and diction issues. As well as a generally fake representation of being real!

I haven’t seen the show and have no interest in doing so but some of you really think over half of the “reality” shows on Anerican TV isn’t scripted? Okie. The Kartrashians and co are better actors than you think.

Omotola is just like Beyonce, whatever she does, will be absolutely interesting. If it means that by just looking at omotola sleeping, i am satisfied by it, cos she is a screen goddess.
The show i saw lastnight and the previous ones are lovely, just seeing how omotola does her thing is enough for me. For goodness sake, we are not talking about an ordinary person here, it’s the biggest star we are talking about. I am loving every minute of it.

Finally watched the show cos of all the mixed comments it’s been generating. All I can say is people watch it yourself oh!!! I did and I’m thanking God I did. It’s one of the best things I’ve seen on african tv in a looooooooong time since the days of checkmate etc… That’s the kind of excitement it brought. I’m already a disciple.

I didn’t know Omotola was this unintelligent she talks, expresses herself, gesticulates and laughs unnecessarily in conversations like a 5th grader, heck in one of the episodes she referred to a Blazer as a Suit and the Asian guys had to correct her. Embarrassing, this Reality show is exposing her real self indeed.

All these “reality” shows are scripted. This one was just too fake, because it seemed almost like they did takes for several parts especially Faustina….. Somehow stars are more glamourous the less we actually know about them. She should stop now before she is overexposed.
