N1 Million for Lunch! Governor Godswill Akpabio Offers N1 Million Each to 6 PDP State Chairmen for “Mr Biggs”

Just while there is a widespread outrage over the donation of a Toyota Prado SUV and 20 plane tickets to Annie Idibia at her traditional wedding recently, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom state is in the news again for another donation.
He was caught on the Channels TV camera on Sunday offering N1 Million each to the six state Chairmen of the Peoples’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-South geopolitical zone who had converged in Port Harcourt for a party reconciliation session.
Before he announced the cash gift, the Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, made a comment that some action needed to be taken to reduce the hardship faced by party members.
“If you want to prevent our members from straying to other parties, you must put food in the stomach of our supporters,” he said.
This was then followed by the announcement of the cash gift by Akpabio who said the N1 Million each to the party chairmen at the venue as lunch money was a way of placating them not to leave the party.
“My brother Governor, Uduaghan, said our members are hungry and that we must put food in their stomach so that they don’t stray to other parties. I am giving all the state chairmen of the party N1 million each for Mr Biggs. Our members must not be hungry.”

Like it’s so sad and I am not surprised. It seems this Akpabio guy enjoys dishing out money for no logical reason. This is where you’d also find Uduaghan. Same Man (Uduaghan) that closed the roads down in 2011 just because his daughter was getting married, talk about a lawless nation. Mothers and kids were in the flood, just because of one girl, getting married. You needed to see this people and their children before they entered office, now they are dishing out money ridiculously as thought they worked hard for it.
Gosh, Nigerian politicians, get your priorities right. The money you wasted and dished out for this gullible stuff could take care of some public schools and hospitals. I am not saying that you should not give money, but for that course, the money you gave was too much, and quite unreasonable.

Tell me those things that you have seen in Akwa Ibom that made you conclude Akpabio has done such an excellent job that he can now give out N6 million for lunch. Nigeria is a failed state in every aspect of the word. This is a show of shame from top to bottom, while it also shows that these men does not know what it takes to govern. If party members are leaving your party, its not because they are hungry. it is because there are no oppurtunities to make anything meaningful from supporting a party that steals all the money and do not think about the ones at the bottom. Why cant you create job opportunities for these so called hungry supporters so they can continue to support you and your party. One meatpie and Guinness malt per supporter will not cut it sir. Someone said there’s no development in the state, does any one have an idea what it means to declare not just free but free and compulsory education in a whole state. How many other governors has done even have of as to invest in the education sector. What other future are we talking about. The man is a governor and can afford to pay anybodys meal ticket or sponsor trips to any part of the world. Even if he doesn’t have the money, all the banks will even beg to lend him to dash out. As far as I am concerned Akpabio is the best Governor akwa ibom state has ever had. Those of you who were born n bred abroad, maybe you should pay a visit to akwa ibom one of this days before you make comments you don’t even understand. For christ sake, does anyone know how many companies this man has brought in to the state and how many people are being employed since he became governor, do you know how many widow the wife has built houses for and finished it, talk bat health, he is currently building a state of the art hospital for the state not private and healthcare services there will be free. What must a gentle man do to accord some kudos, all the primary and secondary schools has been broken and renovated and more constructed where necessary, this are same schools that the conditions where so bad that peoples children learn outside under trees and when it rains dye all go home, what are we talking about. Yea I may be sick in the head but i stand for the truth whenever and wherever. Am proudly akwa ibom and governor akpabio has done me proud. Before who even had an idea that akwa ibom has so much money. The man came in and exposed past governments. How many families in Nigeria did they not have one ekaette or ikon as house helps, but now why would parent want to send their children for house helping. All that is in the past now.
Yes he shouldn’t be going around doling out 6m for Mr biggs or giving out SUVs. He may not be refined or sophisticated as evidenced by this crude display; BUT, the fact remains that he is responsible for:
(1) the new Airport in Uyo which is going to be the most modern airport in the country – FACT
(2) the e-library, one of its kind in West Africa, with about 70 million copies of e-resources, over two million games, 35,000 hard books of various genres, 350 computers with full Wifi connectivity, language lab, conference facility, etc
(3) A major network of well built roads – How many states can boast of good roads, be real please. Are roads not a major killer of our people?
(4) The man is even reconstructing and expanding the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene-Aba Road, a federal expressway out of the state’s pocket! why? because it is Akwa Ibom lives at risk if the road remains in that state.
(5) 20th Anniversary Specialist Hospital an ultra-modern six-storey facility, with 287 beds, six modular operation theatres, MRIs and other sophisticated medical facilities that are available in any comparable hospital overseas. Not to mention on-going upgrades to the Uyo teaching hospital
Infact, there are too many infrastructural developments to mention here but they are well documented in the press. Please go and research for yourselves.
All states in the Federation are receiving at a minimum 4.5billion per month (obviously some more thant others) in allocation but still have nothing to show for it so go figure.

You’ve just effectively summed up my entire reaction to everyone claiming Akpabio is ‘working harder than other governors (and therefore should be left to squander state money as he pleases)’. It’s amazing how beaten down Nigerians have become that we honestly can’t see that we deserve better. Actually… I shouldn’t say that because that particular attitude explains our general response towards everything from cheating/abusive husbands to Alamieyeseigha’s presidential pardon.
We really need to face reality in this country oh. Governors are quietly sharing monthly allocation amongst their cronies and family members, yet no one is saying anything. What because it is not in the news?
There is no excuse for any state not to have basic infrastructure. None whatsoever! Akpabio will keep on giving SUV’s as wedding presents to his state indigenes, and it is not going to have an impact on the free education that Akwa Ibom indigenes are receiving, nor will it impact on the pace of development in the state.

He is a very successful Governor, knowing fully well that, success is more permanent when you achieve it without destroying your principles. He doesn’t destroy his principles that I know; Akpabio’s meekly is not weakness, but rather strength under control. He also know that, “progress must be measurable”. He must have goals to be able to measure progress by giving out the one million naira only each to them. He must be clear on what his goals are.
He located his present position in the area of his life, where he wants progress.
He also envisage what the next level would be like; where he want to go; Having a picture of it. Determining what he must do to get there. Remember his inputs in terms of efforts, time, and resources- money, materials and information matters here. What he is going to do will be affected by what God is going to do.
That means he noticed it and took action.
Otherwise his visions will fail and come to nothing.
